The peacefulness and comfort of the location were ideal. We were not in the main house but in a hut in a separate garden. It was idyllic and if we return, which is a possibility, we would ask for the same accommodation have bbq's and stay in for the evenings. Thomas, our host, was genial, welcoming and helpful. He recommended a restaurant, Jacobs Well, which was superb in standard, quality and friendliness. Breakfast was lovely. A great find. Highly recommended!

Absolutely loved our stay! The host was kind to allow us to check in early as our room was already clean. He was quick to give recommendations for hiking areas and where to have dinner. Also, provided a map and good information for the best routes. Breakfast was amazing, delicious, and beautiful. The dining area was lovely and there were fresh flowers on the tables. I loved that the window sill had little board books for children to be entertained. We would recommend the Birchdale house to other travelers.

The loction was beautiful; the facilities were amazing. There was a great sitting area, wich we used. Even had an outside "bar" area with tables and drinks for purchase. The staff was amazing, Tom greeted us and was friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend this location! Oh and the breakfast options were delicios and plentiful!

I was given a private cabana in the backyard of the main house and I couldn't have been more grateful. My window faced a beautiful garden where birds and deer would pay a visit every now and then. I enjoyed sitting on the flowery patio reading a book and being surrounded by the peaceful nature. Priceless. Breakfast was great, rich, and delicious. Can't recommend this place enough.

A lovely stay at Birchdale House! The host Tom was very welcoming, helpful and kind, the breakfast was great, the beds were comfy, the area is astounding, and we felt at home. Highly recommended!

We stayed at the Log Cabin, which had its pros (amazing views) and cons, including not having a Wifi connection. In addition, the location is rather remote. However, Tom did everything he could and was more than helpful.

The Birchdale is set in the most peaceful and picturesque location, with beautifully kept gardens, which guests are encouraged to enjoy by the staff, perhaps with a beer from their well stocked ‘honesty bar’, this is a really nice touch. There is ample parking for guests, due to Birchdale’s country location, a car is a necessity. The bedrooms/en suites are spotlessly clean, comfortable and well stocked with various essentials including bottles of water for each guest. The breakfast is plentiful with very high quality ingredients, it definitely sets you up for the day. I will stay here again and recommend this Bed & Breakfast.

You do need a car to stay here due to the location.

Hosts were lovely, very welcoming in the evening and full of smiles in the morning. Great breakfast selection in my opinion. Room was comfortable and spacious. Overall lovely stay. Coffee/tea making facilities in shared space were a lovely novelty for me. We would happily stay again of in the area

The best value in the Glendalough Valley. The accommodations are comfortable, clean, & cozy, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Great location to get to Glendalough or Wicklow. Breakfast was hearty & tasty (good choices).

You’ll want a car to get around from here.

The owner was very friendly and welcoming. Its always a good start. We are both the same age within a month of each other. The house was lovely and a lot of care had been put into renovating and making the place suitable for a B&B. You can see the care and pride that was put into delivering a lovely experience. We were on our way south to Cork so it was just a stopover. We would like to have stayed longer. It would have been a lovely place to chill out for a while. The bed was super comfortable.

The owner (Tom) was the most generous, kind man to us during our stay. We took the train and weren’t aware there was only 1 taxi in the town. We didn’t have a way to get to the b&b, which is an hour walk from town. He picked us up and dropped us off at our location the next morning. Can’t explain the lengths of his generosity towards his guests. This is the Irish hospitality I’ve heard so much about times 100!! Such an amazing host!!
