This was the most beautiful accommodation in a wonderful town. Luciana is the perfect host - so friendly and welcoming. Provided lots of information when we arrived on where to go and what to see. Luciana’s breakfast was amazing, prepared with love and delivered to the room. The view from the room and balcony is just amazing - perfect spot to start the day with breakfast and even more stunning in the late afternoon and early evening. I could have sat there all day! Room extremely comfortable and a great shower.

Il Sasso e la Seta is in a great location, with an expansive view of the neighborhood. In the early morning it is pure joy to just sit in the open doorway, bask in the sunshine, and listen to church bells and birds and feel the town come to life. The breakfasts (as frequently noted in many, many reviews!) are splendid -- made with love in a bountiful array of savory and sweet. The room is very comfortable and feels like a friend's home, with thoughtful touches of original art. Superb!

That I booked only a two-night stay! It was very hard to leave such a wonderful place!

Is Sasso e la Seta is 10++. It is in an amazing location in the old Matera. The views were spectacular. The room was delightful. But the gem is the hostess Luciana. From our first meaning after being lost in the city (google map was having a moment!) to her wonderful insight of her beloved town and her tour suggestions, restaurant suggestions (Keiv was one of our best meals on a 18 day trip) and her breakfasts! Perfection! Especially her home made marmalade. We so enjoyed our visits with her at breakfast. She is a fascinating woman with a heart of gold. Your stay here will be a highlight of your trip!

Luciana is an amazing host, so warm and welcoming. The location was amazing, at the foot of the church built into the rock cliffs. It was even more beautiful in the evening. We were close to most of the main attractions. We had fun at the Bar across the street with a live jazz band one night, including some of Luciana's lovely neighbors. Our breakfast was outstanding, including freshly made focaccia bread among other delicious foods.

The parking was in the city, extremely difficult to find. We parked at a different garage and barely made it in with our mid-size rental. Not for the faint of heart. And it was hard to find Il Sasso, took us over 30 minutes. It is quite the hike with a suitcase thru cobblestsone streets and then up a few different sets of steps. But once we got there it was worth the trip.

The breakfast brought by the host each morning was excellent. Kept me going for the whole day, really. The location in the middle of the oldest parts of Matera was excellent. Very quiet area, obviously no car traffic nearby. Very friendly host. Warm water supply was good.

Can't think of anything that should be improved really. It was as described, even better.

That was unbelievable. Luciana is a great host, the room was wonderful and you can easily see, that Luciana made everything with love. The view is amazing and it's not just that you can walk to the nice places at the Sassi, you're right in the middle of it. Thank you, dear Luciana, for the recommendations, the lovely welcome and the great breakfast! Really made this a special part of our holidays.

Luciana's B&B was exceptional. Everything in our room was comfortable and beautifully decorated. Breakfast every morning on the terrace was delicious and fresh. The location was perfect for seeing this amazing historical town. The view from our room was beautiful. Luciana was also very helpful with booking taxis and helping with a transport problem we had, her recommendations for where to dine were exceptional meals. Location of the property was perfect for exploring the historic town. The property was full of character and perfect for our needs. Lucianna was an excellent host who made us a lovely breakfast each morning. She gave us lots recommendations of where to go and where to eat one of which was The Keiv which gave us great food, location and service.

Luciana was superb in providing helpful instructions to get to the room, so it was easy to find. We have found the accomodation very clean and provided with everything, the children enjoyed very much sleeping on the mezzanine. The view from the balcony it is very nice at all times of the day. Noise wise it was very calm and peaceful. We also liked the breakfast that was prepared every morning, Luciana was also good at providing info for tours.

The fridge was a bit noisy in the room. Perhaps few more cups in the kitchenette would be good, as well as some instant coffee and cupboard milk shots. Bathroom - we don't smoke but we could not find any lighter or match sticks for the candles (not a disaster ehi!) Mezzanine steps: it was ok for our children (4 & 7) but please bear in mind it is steep and has no balusters so they need to be supervised at all times.
