Beautiful rooms, converted from caves, stylish decor. very nice experience. Very central location, in the Sassi, close to everything. Beautiful views of the Sassi, especially in the night with all the lights. We could park the car at the Damasco parking, which is just 400 meter from the hotel for 20 euro per day. There’s a free shuttle of the hotel to bring the guests to the hotel.
You have to pay for the swimming pool and spa. 20 euro per 90 minutes.

Arriving at Matera and parking the car in a recommended garage, we were picked up by a very helpful and friendly staff member (did not recall the name) so we did not have to walk with the bags. He was prompt and very kind. The hotel offered us an upgrade to our room - we had booked the one which is further from the reception. They offered us an amazing room in the hotel itself with a beautiful terrace. We could choose, of course, between the one we initially booked and the one they offered. Both rooms were amazing, however, we took the upgrade. This was the most romantic place we have stayed! Beautiful, authentic, matches the out of this worldly feel of Matera beautifully. Despite it being a cave, it felt luxurious, was spotlessly clean and warm. Every detail of the room was amazing! The balcony and the view - the best in Matera. Too bad we only stayed for one night! The location - again, the best there can be! Breakfast - was yet another exceeds any expectiations matter - a beautiful breakfast room, great variety, and wait for this - live music - the beautiful sound of a harp!!! The thermal pools - wow!!! Not to be missed! Most of all - the staff - we communicated with a lot of staff - reception, the spa, at breakfast and the driver - they were all so helpful, friendly and professional! This is probably the longest review I have written lately, but the place deserves and excellent review, so here it is! If we ever go back to Matera, I would love to book at least 2-3 nights in this same room! Thank you for a special stay!
We did not like that we only spent one night there :)

Unique Hotel in a fantastic place in the heart of the "Sassi". The room was comfy, the Spa under the ground is amazing, the breakfast with live music made our day.
It was not easy to find the parking place (Damasco), the one way roads were closed which led to the center. I enclose some pics that can help. Afterwards, the location of the hotel is can't be find by Google map. From Piazza Vittorio beside the public WC you have to go down the stairs with your luggages in a very difficult way direction to Sasso Barisano, follow the little stone Via Fiorentini and after 150m you arrive to the hotel with a very modest sign on the left. You can't imagine the structure of this city centre, it's like a huge building with 10-15 floors, the hotel's entrance is at - 3rd level

The location is STUNNING. Right in the centre of Matera's Sassi area. The breakfast (included) was continental and very good. There's no restaurant, but it doesn't really matter as there are so many within walking distance of the hotel. The thermae spa under the hotel is a MUST. You have to book it and it costs 25 euros for 90 minutes but it's worth it to swim in blue-lit caves and use the steam rooms/saunas etc. We loved it. Our bedroom was a cave and, as far as we could tell, so were most of the other rooms.
Nothing really. There is only a small lift from reception to the upper floor (we couldn't see any stairs) so it means you sometimes have to wait a bit, but a tiny quibble. The view when you come out of the lift to walk to your room is pretty much unparalleled.

We had a triple room which consisted of a double and a single. It was very spacious. It even had a bath tub/spa in its own little niche! Toiletries were plenty - no skimping! They made the bed daily which was such a treat. The room opened to the outdoors...there are quite a few steps to navigate from the elevator, but if you arrive within hours, the porter will help with your bags. The outdoor area had a lovely table and chair that you could sit in and just take in the incredible view of the Sassi. Breakfast was at the breakfast room and the food was plentiful and tasty. A variety of coffees were offered and brought to you. It was a highlight. The pool and the sauna facilities were great...very relaxing. only wish I could have gotten a massage..but i didnt have time. I would highly recommend this hotel. I would return again.
Nothing.

The hotel is located in the old town itself. If you want to feel like an actual resident and enjoy the views of the ancient city, I recommend choosing this hotel. I liked the authentic rooms. The one-bedroom is not big for one traveler, but it really leaves the room. The cleanliness and smell in the room are ideal. The service is excellent. I liked the Spa.
You must carry your luggage to the hotel through stone streets and stairs or take a taxi service. The hotel warns about this. But the images around redeem everything! Breakfast was qualitative, but the choice could be wider.

The breakfast was exceptional! Amazing selection of food and coffee was wonderful. The staff was so pleasant. We enjoyed a booking at the thermal pools which were so relaxing and clean. I would highly recommend splurging on this after a long day of walking around the town. Having specified a parking garage and having a free shuttle to the hotel was outstanding. The only way to go really! So many stairs, & narrow streets would have made finding the accomodation a tad bit difficult. This was a BIG PLUS.
We did stay in a cave room which was on a side street and there was a bit of noise at night. Making it more sound proof would be wonderful.

This place was very unique. The cave rooms were so beautiful and they have taken all the necessary steps to make it comfortable, including having a dehumidifier in the room as they would be very damp otherwise. The spa area at the hotel was much better than I expected, it was well worth the money to go for a few hours and swim, sauna, steam and drink tea. We had such an amazing time in Matera and would come back here again and again.
Had to park quite far away and climb a lot of stairs with luggage. So pack light if visiting here!

we chose the hotel due to having a thermal spa but omitted to read the fine print that it was only for over 18s so as we had our 12 year old grand daughter we’re unable to utilise the facilities. other than that it was perfect. breqkfast was included in room rate. the hotel was in the old town and right in the middle of everything. extremely easy to get around albeit up hill and down dale and lots of stairs. it was trembly cold being a wi ter stay and up in the mountains, but quite bearable. bed were comfortable. our kids and grad daughter got a famiiky suite which was ideal for them. we had a car and the hotel advised a suitable car park and had hotel shuttle

Fantastic the experience to stay in the “cave home”. It was very clean and quiet. The room was very big so they could have put a sofa inside or a caffe machine, a mini bar but nothing. There was a sauna but it was locked. The breakfast was great!
The girl at the reception almost shouted on us why we didn’t call them at the garage. Then forbidden to our kids the entrance in Therme - I wish I knew this at the moment of booking. It is located in the Sassi the old part so it is really difficult to reach with baggage.
