Absolutely loved my stay at Albergo Vapore and the hosts' hospitality! The price/value ratio is unbeatable. The location is perfect right at the lake and the main square. The hotel is operated by a wonderful lady and her son who made me feel incredibly welcome. The hotel also has a delicious restaurant with authentic home-cooked meals. There rooms are comfortable and cleaned daily. There is a lovely cafe/bakery right next to the hotel. Menaggio as such is a great base and allows you to visit Belaggio and Varenna within a day, while still being relatively low-key and less touristic. My stay was absolutely wonderful and I will be back! :)

Best value in como. If you want a place with a lovely view, incredible location and lovely staff this is the spot. My partner and I both agreed that we were not going to be hanging out in the room very much so were looking for something functional that was close to the ferry (5min walk). Comfy bed and fresh towels each morning was great. My partners highlight was getting a cappuccino from the owner and having it on the balcony while reading her book in the morning. Didn’t get a moment to have a meal in the restaurant downstairs (everyone says it’s great). There were good restaurants around the area and lovely views. If we come back to como this is where we will stay!

We loved the location of the accommodation, from our balcony you could see the lake and you were in the middle of a little square so you could take in everything that was going on. Very authentic Italian place which we loved. The lady that runs the place was very hospitable, caring and she couldn’t do enough for us even lending us an umbrella for our day trip out. She also ran the restaurant downstairs which her son is one of the chefs, the food here was amazing and great value for money compared to some of the other places we ate at. The restaurant is quite cosy and is like being in your own lounge with other people which we didn’t mind at all, you could still have a private conversation or you could eat outside. Loved the fact that you could also bring your dog which just made us feel like it was a home from home, never heard dogs wailing or barking just nice that they allowed people to do that. Our room was lovely and clean quite basic but we didn’t mind this at all for the money. Would highly recommend and would Definately visit again :)

Nothing really the only small thing was that the floor was quite noisy so every time you walked around you made a creak on the floor and vice versa for the other rooms.

We loved our hotel, it was in a fantastic location close to everything and overlooking the lake. The hotel owner could not have been more helpful. She did everything possible to make our stay comfortable and always greeted us with a smile, even when she was busy. We stayed 5 nights and had breakfast every morning, and had dinner a few nights too. The food was beautiful at our hotel. The room had no AC, but had a fan. We had a wonderful stay in Menaggio and would recommend this beautiful Hotel.

Located in the most beautiful part of Menaggio, close to all the cafés and restaurants, but a bit to the side, which makes it very peaceful and quiet, though in the room we selected there was no lake view. The interior is rather basic, but enough for a few days’ stay. Quite a good value for money.

Would be a nice touch if the room had a fridge!

The location is perfect, in the middle of Menaggio, close to the ferry terminal and to the central square with all restaurants and cafes. The hotel owner wich also worked there was very helpful and friendly. We had a room with a balcony that had a beautiful view of the lake with Belaggio in the background.

The mattress was a little hard, but other than that we slept well. The walls between rooms aren't very thick, so you could hear everything the neighbours were up to, but we were not bothered.

The ospitality of the staff was excellent. I was amazed by how they handled one of my requests.I had a room for one person. Everything was clean. Every day, they cleaned up. The food at the restaurant was very good. They don't have shower gel or shampoo, but this wasn't a problem, as I knew it from other reviews. I really recommend the hotel for a low-budget trip.

My husband and I spent a few nights here on our honeymoon and it was definitely great value for the location and warm hospitality we received. Mother and son duo running the hotel and restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing! The best food we had in Menaggio. Grazie Mille! Highly recommend.

The people staying above us were stomping around until 2am on our second night so didn’t get the best sleep . The bed was a little bit hard to what we are used to but we managed 😊

The location is right in the middle of the beautiful center of Menaggio, the hosts are delightful and they even keep tables at their (very good) restaurant downstairs for you. The facilities are exactly as the pictures show, not the flashiest but it has a lot of charm and I've had no trouble sleeping. The pasticceria right next to it is also true gem for breakfast. I see no reason to go anywhere else.

Comfortable beds, clean room, friendly host. The hotel is located in a beautiful neighborhood so we also could walk around to spend some time. Near to a supermarket and traghetto where you can take a ship to e.g. Bellagio and Varenna. A strategic location (in city center of Menaggio).

Just building-related issues, nothing that the hotel could do about it. If you travel with an elderly, better be prepared since there is no lift/elevator and the stairs are pretty steep. Not very soundproof.
