Absolutely loved my stay at Albergo Vapore and the hosts' hospitality! The price/value ratio is unbeatable. The location is perfect right at the lake and the main square. The hotel is operated by a wonderful lady and her son who made me feel incredibly welcome. The hotel also has a delicious restaurant with authentic home-cooked meals. There rooms are comfortable and cleaned daily. There is a lovely cafe/bakery right next to the hotel. Menaggio as such is a great base and allows you to visit Belaggio and Varenna within a day, while still being relatively low-key and less touristic. My stay was absolutely wonderful and I will be back! :)

Like most people we decided to take a gamble as on booking.com the hotel has one star, however on trip advisor it has more. This hotel was GREAT value for money! Considering you’re staying in an expensive area, we were really impressed! The hotel is run by a lady who does all the hotel check ins etc and the restaurant. While her son cooks. She is incredibly friendly and welcoming! We were lucky enough to have a table booked in the hotels restaurant (as it was full booked every night) and the food was incredible! Lake Como has a common theme of being “expensive” however Menaggio and this hotel is definitely the place to stay if you’re trying to do this on a budget. We will 100% be returning!

We loved our stay at Albergo Il Vapore!!! The location was incredible, the two ladies running the hotel and restaurant were so lovely and the room was great - comfy bed, amazing view of the lake with a small balcony, good bathroom and shower, and although it was a bit hot to sleep at night, we knew there was no aircon when we booked and greatly appreciated the tall fan that was provided in the room. We also had two fantastic meals at the restaurant downstairs, and even when they were fully booked they made room for us as hotel guests - delicious pasta and aperol spritz, and some of the best prices in Menaggio! We would stay again in a heartbeat.

The room was a bit hot to sleep well at night, but it was nothing a cold shower and the tall fan couldn’t fix!

Best value in como. If you want a place with a lovely view, incredible location and lovely staff this is the spot. My partner and I both agreed that we were not going to be hanging out in the room very much so were looking for something functional that was close to the ferry (5min walk). Comfy bed and fresh towels each morning was great. My partners highlight was getting a cappuccino from the owner and having it on the balcony while reading her book in the morning. Didn’t get a moment to have a meal in the restaurant downstairs (everyone says it’s great). There were good restaurants around the area and lovely views. If we come back to como this is where we will stay!

We loved the location of the accommodation, from our balcony you could see the lake and you were in the middle of a little square so you could take in everything that was going on. Very authentic Italian place which we loved. The lady that runs the place was very hospitable, caring and she couldn’t do enough for us even lending us an umbrella for our day trip out. She also ran the restaurant downstairs which her son is one of the chefs, the food here was amazing and great value for money compared to some of the other places we ate at. The restaurant is quite cosy and is like being in your own lounge with other people which we didn’t mind at all, you could still have a private conversation or you could eat outside. Loved the fact that you could also bring your dog which just made us feel like it was a home from home, never heard dogs wailing or barking just nice that they allowed people to do that. Our room was lovely and clean quite basic but we didn’t mind this at all for the money. Would highly recommend and would Definately visit again :)

Nothing really the only small thing was that the floor was quite noisy so every time you walked around you made a creak on the floor and vice versa for the other rooms.

We liked everything about our stay. Perfect location, rooms are simple but very clean, wonderful view facing the lake. The charm of this family run hotel is the owner- Signora Pinuccia very sweet, lovely and welcoming lady. She also has the restaurant downstairs where her son Simone cooks amazing food and we had nice evenings there. Overall Great value. Yes, it is not a 5 star hotel, but it has italian soul and charm, smiley faces, sweet and kind people - that's all we needed. Grazie mille signora Pinucia and Simone! With love from Georgia <3

Home away from home. Exceptional host, very kind and caring,always there to make our stay as memorable as possible. Food was delicious. You do have to book in advance if you want to have dinner(almost booked out every evening) , but believe me it's worth it. Lovely view of the lake from the room with balcony. Close to the ferry. In the main square of Menaggio. Lots of cafés and restaurants around. 10 minutes drive from Villa Carlotta. Great base to visit the towns around Lake Como.

We loved our hotel, it was in a fantastic location close to everything and overlooking the lake. The hotel owner could not have been more helpful. She did everything possible to make our stay comfortable and always greeted us with a smile, even when she was busy. We stayed 5 nights and had breakfast every morning, and had dinner a few nights too. The food was beautiful at our hotel. The room had no AC, but had a fan. We had a wonderful stay in Menaggio and would recommend this beautiful Hotel.

Located in the most beautiful part of Menaggio, close to all the cafés and restaurants, but a bit to the side, which makes it very peaceful and quiet, though in the room we selected there was no lake view. The interior is rather basic, but enough for a few days’ stay. Quite a good value for money.

Would be a nice touch if the room had a fridge!

The location is perfect, in the middle of Menaggio, close to the ferry terminal and to the central square with all restaurants and cafes. The hotel owner wich also worked there was very helpful and friendly. We had a room with a balcony that had a beautiful view of the lake with Belaggio in the background.

The mattress was a little hard, but other than that we slept well. The walls between rooms aren't very thick, so you could hear everything the neighbours were up to, but we were not bothered.
