Stayed for 4 nights during early Feb in the Small Double room and Large Double room. Great value for what you get! Hotel and rooms have lots of character. 24/7 service and lovely bar. Room was cosy and warm. Beds were comfortable. Provided with a range of pillow heights. Breakfast was decent. Most staff were wonderful. Shower pressure was great. Location great - easy walk from the hauptbahnhof and right next to the Little Tokyo district. Can work in the Large Double hotel room or in the bar area. Small Double room would be a squeeze for two people. Spend a bit extra and get the Large Double if there’s two of you.

Rooms weren’t very soundproof (but didn’t affect my sleep during the week). The shower! It was super small but worst of all had a shower curtain (in both room sizes). Not only would there be water everywhere it was just not a comfortable or relaxing experience. Hairdryer was only 1800W (not powerful enough for my hair but might Ok for others). Also the WiFi is not password protected so couldn’t use it. I would stay here again, given the value and location, but know that the shower won’t be the best.

Great location, staff were helpful and friendly, clean and tidy, also had a basketball hoop and teddy ball to play with haha, loved our stay!!

The only downside was the shutter wasn’t fully attached to the wall and was hanging over the bed so we had to hold it open with our backpack on a shelf to hold it out the way overnight, this also meant we couldn’t close it too. We made the staff aware and they said it can be fixed after our stay. This wasn’t a major issue for us and didn’t overly affect us, and didn’t impact our opinion on the hotel as we loved it. The water was also shut off for a couple of hours around the check in time but this didn’t really affect us at the time and was turned on by the time we needed it.

The only thing to consider in hotels are beds. It was very fluffy and comfortable. Small rooms are small be aware, do not book with 2 people to be budget. Breakfast was typical european style ( eggs& sausage). Close to japan neighbourhood (Lots of asian restaurant ). Hotel's location was close to shopping streets and malls.

Tiny walls that seperates the rooms made the every noise can be heared. It was very annoying to wake up with the noise of other rooms' pee or bath water splash noise.

Rooms were characterful and really were much more comfortable than other similar priced hotels. Love the record players in the rooms and the basketball net! Lovely quirky décor throughout. A nice feel and great theming.

Staff weren't the most helpful. For whatever reason we couldn't add extras (drink, snacks etc) to our hotel room - suspect this was because the staff couldn't really be bothered. Also - smoking seems to be permitted outside the front door which makes the relaxing lounge area smoke inside.

Very interesting style! Looks great and the rooms are also retro themed! Definitely brought about a good mood every day. There’s a public pool table by the reception and a bar where many guests come down to mingle. Reception was very friendly and stored our bags before check in. The soap and hand cream smelled great (unfortunately no shampoo so bring some with you). The room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable with extra lights and light switches near the bed. Despite the room being quite small, the bed is more than enough for 2 ppl and you can walk around easily. There’s space for luggage at the foot of the bed and under the table. Location couldn’t be better! It’s right in the „Little Tokyo“ street so you get easy access to all the bars, cafes and restaurants nearby. It’s also near to the Bahnhof

The atmosphere at the hotel was great, retro/vintage furniture in the entile hotel looks great. Fun room with record player and basketball net. staff at reception/bar and breakfast area were more than friendly!

The room did not have airconditioning and when we stayed at Max Brown, luckily the weather was not too hot (20-25 degrees). The room was hot and opening a window did not really help due to the blinding roll curtain that blocked air flow. If temperatures reach 25-30 degrees, the room must be blazing hot. Beds were a little too soft and bumpy to our liking, but nothing we couldn't overcome.

The hotel has a great energy and vibe! The décor was quirky but enjoyable. Breakfast was really nice with varied options while the bar was great for evening drinks. The staff was very friendly and helpful - really making my stay! The rooms are well decorated and the beds comfortable. The hotel is actually really close to a metro station making trips really easy!

Sometimes it can be bit noisy as doors to the stairwell are left open causing noises to rise from the reception and bar area.

I don’t know why the hotel wasn’t rated better; it is absolutely cosy, retro style, warm lighting, nice small bar (good whiskey choice), a snooker table in the lobby available until 11 pm. Big room about 20 square meters with very high and comfortable bed and retro style shower.

My only bad remark is about the elevator- it got stuck for several minutes as I was inside… there’s an emergency button and it started to work again. I soon after however, used the beautiful staircase- which is also good for the health 😀

You mention the public parking closeby, indeed very nice and next to the hotel. But it would be good to also mention to foreign travellers that you must order a green badge to enter Dusseldorf. Maybe I should have looked up at this but I really didn't know. I saw a flash on the road hence well under 30km/h. I'm now expecting a ticket coming in my mailbox. Had I know this...

The place is clean and even though thw rooms are small they made the best out of it. The style is very welcoming and there are vinyl players with sample vinyls in every room that is a fun little extra.

Decorative pillows and stuff on the bed. Since there isn't much space to put them other then the floor many people put them on the floor and they seem dirty in my mind even if they aren't. I don't think they are necessary.
