UAN Kanazawa is currently my favorite place to stay while in Kanazawa. I’m a frequent traveler to Kanazawa and have stayed at a well known old traditional style onsen ryokan and a reasonably priced chain hotel. I will always prefer the UAN Kanazawa for the following reasons: 1. The UAN Kanazawa is very convenient to many of the major sightseeing places, shops, convenience stores, and restaurants, especially if you like walking to explore. 2. This hotel is a modern take on the traditional ryokan. Very comfortable, very clean, and well designed. While there isn’t an onsen, there is a very deep modern bath tub to soak away your tiredness from walking. 3. I did notice a slight drop in meal quality pre-covid and now, but the Japanese and western breakfasts are still a must for us. The breakfasts are very filling and tasteful. The lobby area also has a small bar, free amenities like tea, coffee, and juices, and free soba in the late evening. 4. There is a free washing machine service as well on the first floor. Free fitness center as well. All very clean. 5. I can’t speak enough about the Staff. In all of the stays there, the Staff has been exceptional. Very pleasant to talk to. Always smiling and accommodating with inquiries and requests. They go out of their way to help and if they are too busy, they will take the time to follow up with you. This hotel Staff has been the most exceptional in all of my travels and stays in Japan these past years.
I really can’t think of anything that I didn’t like.

Service was great - the explanation and information provided at check-in was comprehensive. The hotel lobby has a welcoming cozy feel with the free flow drinks (coffee, tea, juices) along with drink-in or take-away cups, which I found very thoughtful. The late night soba was also fantastic. Hotel room was clean, and plenty of free mineral water was provided. Omicho market is just a short walk away.
The room was listed as being able to accommodate 4, but each double bed was a bit small to comfortably fit 2 people. The location is also slightly far from the train station.

Everything! The aesthetic is so beautiful and calming. They provide really great amenities like tea coffee and little Japanese candies to try. The night time soba noodles are divine! The staff are extremely polite and helpful. We loved how spacious the room was and thought it was well designed and clean. It was easy to find and a great location that allowed us to walk to all the major tourist spots. We booked with breakfast and got the Japanese one both mornings. It was delicious and so interesting to try! Please come visit Kanazawa! It is totally safe and the people need the support after the earthquake on New Year’s Day. They are so hardworking and just want to share their culture and show hospitality.
Nothing! Everything was perfect.

I had a fantastic stay at Uan Kanazawa Hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kanazawa. The reception staff were exceptionally helpful, kind, and friendly, making check-in and navigating the city a breeze. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated in a traditional Japanese style, providing a comfortable and authentic experience. The attention to detail in the room's design added to the overall ambiance and made for a memorable stay. One of the highlights of the hotel is its excellent location, within walking distance of most Kanazawa attractions. This convenience allowed me to explore the city easily and maximize my time exploring the cultural and historical sites. Overall, my experience at Uan Kanazawa Hotel was exceptional, and I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Kanazawa.

The location is excellent. Quiet but close to everything. The room we had was spacious, with comfortable beds and a nice terrace which we could not use as it was raining. The staff were nice. Kind of like a Ryoken but with beds ( not futons) and breakfast. Nice Japanese feel to the hotel.
Some staff could speak a little English and others needed to use a translator. Most of the guests were foreigners so hopefully they can improve in that area. The laundry uses a washer dryer combination machine which takes around 3 hours to wash and dry clothes. 2 machines were not enough for the size of the hotel, given most guests were from overseas and needed to do a mid trip wash.

Room was a good size and we had all comforts. Breakfast was unique where you had two choices: a Western breakfast or a Japanese breakfast. We tried each and both were enjoyable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is about a 20 minute leisurely walk from the rail station but very close to the markets and the Kanazawa Castle and Kenrouken Garden I would recommend this hotel to people visiting the area
A choice of a continental breakfast would be good as we are not big eaters in the morning, but it was different and that was fine too

Spent some nights in a superior twin room, in Oct 23 Overall all the hotels we spent in Japan in our 2 weeks trip were good, friendly, clean but this was the best. Location is close to castle and market, Ok for 21st century museum, mini marts close by. And I definately recommed the food market in the department store close by (which I name I forgot :-() Hotel has the nicest staff. Usually I do not mind staff service level, but this was extraordinary. One felt really, really welcomed, everything was explained and also with great English language skills (not common in Japanese hotels) Beds were big and super comfy, I have the tendency to develop some back pain after some nights in hotel room beds but nothing here, this was all great We did not have breakfest, but when coming again I would do so, it looked very carefully prepared Room and hotel had feeling of mix of Western boutique hotel and Japanese tradion. Very nice

This is a hotel with Western features, but a very attractive Japanese style. The rooms are visually attractive, the beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are good. I particularly appreciated the very stable rubberized floor in the walk-in shower. The service is helpful and friendly. The public areas are abundant and welcoming, and there is always complimentary coffee, tea, and fruit juices. After 9pm they serve a complimentary bowl of soba noodles.
There is a very real trade-off being made in this hotel between style and function. The rooms are reasonably large, but there is wasted space. At one end of the room is a decorative area that is called a patio. There is a very small rack for hanging clothes. There are absolutely no drawers, and very limited space for luggage. Where one puts most clothing is a dilemma. This is a real problem. There is no desk. There is a small table with two chairs that can be used as a desk, but there are no electrical outlets in that area.

Convenient location. Walking distance to many of the sight seeing spots. Love the evening soba and juice and snack bar. We did not get to try their breakfast because we did not order it in time. Overall, a nice place to stay.
We bought the Kanazawa Bus Pass mainly for the Kanazawa Loop Bus but found the bus undependable and ended up not using it. You could use the pass on other bus lines but it wasn't easy to figure out which bus goes where and where to catch the bus. Our room had a little terrace but we did not use it because it wasn't really open to the the outside. It was up against the wall of another building. The bathroom was strange because it had huge panel glass windows between the sleeping area and the bathroom. You had no privacy while using the bathroom! Strange feeling.

Uan hotel Kanazawa is a wonderful, welcoming hotel. The lobby is lovely, with free green tea, coffee, juice, etc. and at night a free soba bowl (nice touch!) which mosts guests are enjoying in their kimono's. The rooms are light, some with a beautiful view on the shrine, others with a Zen indoor patio garden. Our room had a lovely bathroom with bath, japanese style. The location is very convenient, walking distance to the castle, Kenrokuen garden, the Omicho market. We had amazing sushi nearby the hotel, there is a jazzbar 2 minutes away, and a mall where you can buy lots of souvenirs (you can also buy these at Kanazawa station by the way). You can buy the cute room kimono's at the hotel. I totally recommend this place.
