A bit dated and a bit tired, but what a lovely hotel with large rooms and great location. Sitting areas in the room were wonderful, the onsen was very nice, we really enjoyed our stay here. Everything we needed for the two days we were in Kanazawa were within easy walking distance. It's location counts for a lot. We had a room that faced the castle though it was not high enough to let us look over the castle grounds. Still looking into the hillside at nature was a nice change for us.
We never ate at the hotel because we thought the cost for breakfast was high and we tended to wander the town for our other meals. Free shuttle back to the train station was nice but little information on how to catch it from the train station.

Staff were really terrific and we loved the overall ambience of the hotel. Also, the nightly piano recitals in the main lounge area were wonderful. We very much liked the on-site onsen and used it every day, sometimes twice a day. We are already missing it! Location is good for Kenrokuen, the Castle, and the Asanogawa areas. Staff provide helpful recommendations of restaurants & will even make reservations if requested.
On warm days our room was a bit too warm - overall this hotel needs some light air-conditioning in some rooms. The staff provided a fan for us however, and this plus leaving the window open was mostly OK.

We loved this older style hotel- especially the Onsen which was fantastic! The room was spacious and well appointed- very comfortable. Perfect location right next to castle and gardens out of the hustle and bustle of downtown.
There was something strange behind our bathroom mirror which made the right side of the mirror burning hot. It was a little disconcerting. Once we figured out it was likely harmless - we just kept the bathroom door closed to keep the rest of the room from turning into a sauna.

We loved the overall traditional "craftsman:" ambiance of the hotel featuring stained glass and Kutani ceramic pieces throughout the lobby.. The exceptional morning buffet was traditional and focused on vegetables and dishes from the Ishikawa area. An amazing array of traditional Japanese breakfast dishes made our mornings. What made our evenings was the solo pianist playing on the lobby grand piano. It was a great way to end our day exploring Kanazawa. On our last day we just had enough time to visit our favorite garden Kenrokuen and was really short on time to see it. But to our pleasant surprise, Kenrokuen was only 10 minutes walking-distance away from the Hotel making it possible for us to see this beautiful garden in the short time we had left in Kanazawa. We then returned to the hotel to catch their shuttle bus to Kanazawa JR Station. This shuttle bus to the JR station was such a huge benefit and convenience. Love this hotel!
Loved everything about this hotel.

Everything! The Japanese style room, the yukatas, the onsen, the breakfast buffet with regional specialties... The position is strategic, a stone's throw from the castle and the Kenroku-en garden, and there is a free hourly shuttle from the station to the hotel and viceversa: very very convenient! Although the staff's English is not as good as we found in Tokyo, they are extremely helpful and friendly. They helped us with restaurant and reservations and went the extra mile to help (literally - even came to our room to bring the restaurant map).

Lovely hotel with wonderful staff. Front desk ladies were so charming, sweet and helpful. Piano concerts in the lobby every evening were a unique and nice bonus. The breakfast was perfect for two days. Enough variety that you could try everything without over-eating or getting bored of the same menu. The location was amazing right next to the castle grounds and garden. Also the neighborhood, though relatively quiet (which was nice), was very close to both the market and a few really fantastic restaurants! We loved our time at this hotel and can't wait for our next opportunity to return!
We traveled with our 11 year old son, who was included in the room price. That was great! But the bed situation was a little hard since the beds were mattresses on the floor- which is fine, but we had only two mats or the three of us. It would have been nice to have a third mat. We didn't request one, so don't know if they could have provided it had we asked. We pushed our two mats together but it was not the most comfortable sleeping as they slid apart through the night. Also the mats were a little thinner than others we've experienced. The pillows also were not fantastic.

The location of this hotel is fantastic. Very easy walk to the Kanazawa Castle and garden, also a nice walk to the tea district. The hotel lobby is beautiful with the stained glass windows. The reception staff and concierge are very friendly and helpful. Lots of options to try at breakfast, very delicious! The shuttle to the train station was great too!
The room itself seemed a little dated (window treatments appeared old and stained), the shower was very short. I was unable to stand all the way up (I’m 5’6”). It smelled a little bit musty and like stale cigarette smoke, despite being non-smoking room. Overall was nice, just seemed like it is coming due for an update.

This Ryokan hotel is just next to two amazing sights: Kanazawa Castle and Kenrokuen Garden. The hotel provides you yukata for men and kimono for women, and you can keep them if you like (we did!). Breakfast was good but not great. The traditional Japanese style room was excellent with a small sitting area, which was quite pleasant. The staff was excellent and made us feel quite welcome. The onsen was excellent and quite hot; the water minerally and soothing. The facility was excellent.
Dining area is a bit small, and we were unable to eat dinner on-site (we walked a sort distance to a gastropub, which was quite good).

Excellent traditional Japanese hotel. Room was perfectly comfortable, clean and quiet. Breakfasts were excellent. Wide variety of food with plenty for everyone. Breakfast room, like the entire hotel, is a beautiful, traditional banquet room.
Only one English speaking staff member during our two night stay. Inadequate for hotel that advertises on this site and other English speaking booking sites. No room service really. Came back after day of site-seeing. Only one set meal choice for in room delivery and they said they were sold out. These are minor points. I would love to stay here again.

This hotel was perfectly located within a short walking distance to the Kenrokuen garden and castle. The hotel provided a convenient shuttle bus service to the train station. The on-site onsen was heavenly and we loved all the beauty products available to use.
Whilst it was good to have breakfast provided, the western style breakfast offerings were limited. The room decor was lovely and comfortable, but a little tired and the bed was a little hard.
