It's conveniently located very near the scenic spots. The lobby is big and the service of staff is very good, especially Mr Chris Raku, who was most kind to help us settle the problem with the mattress by actually adding a blanket on it himself. Million thanks to him. Other staff are also very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is quite old and so the facilities are a bit outdated. We book a twin room and a triple room. It turned out the triple room got problems with 1. the ventilation, so the room was so stuffy and hot that we couldn't sleep. 2. the mattress of the additional bed was ultra thin and the cushioning was nearly all worn out. Luckily the manager Mr Rr Raku helped us settle it.

Our original room on one of the top floors was somewhat rundown and small. However, once we asked for an upgrade, we were given a larger and much nicer room on a lower floor. The breakfast was quite good. Unfortunately, after our first day there, we weren't able to go down to breakfast anymore, and the hotel didn't provide room service. Overall, however, the staff was very friendly, helpful, and professional. The location of the hotel near the Kumamoto Castle and the downtown core is very convenient.

No room service, in spite of having a restaurant on site.

A relatively large business hotel in a great location - only a 10min walk to the Kumamoto Castle entrance (and visible from the top viewing deck of Kumamoto Castle itself), which made it a convenient base for going early in the morning to beat the crowds. It's also a 10min walk from Shimotori Shopping Arcade which has a wide range of conbini, shops and izakaya in the night-time. Highly recommend walking a bit longer to Katsuretsu Tei Shinshigai, which has some of the best tonkatsu I've tasted in Japan. You do indeed get a view of the top of the Castle from the hotel window. The amenities and in-hotel experience was a rung above a standard business hotel. Also recommend changing any money at the hotel - they had a very good exchange rate!

Parking our rental car was an additional 1000yen for a day, though for that service (valet parking), it's worth it

- Air con is centralized. During winter, the air con is stopped. When I stayed, the weather was like 10c which was a bit hot in the room. But the windows can be self-opened.

Good location next to castle. We had a problem with the room and the staff was very fast at finding a good solution. The staff were all very kind and cleaning staff did a great job despite some of the rooms being dated.

Air conditioning didn’t work properly (December with climate change) so we had to open the window. Bathroom didn’t get enough air exchange. But this was only in the older rooms. Recently renovated rooms had better air exchange.

Excellent service, location and value! I have stayed at this hotel a few times and there is a good reason why I keep coming back. Staff is always very accommodating and professional. Special thanks to Mr. Matsunaga and another staff whose name I cannot recall who extended their hospitalities to make sure my long stay was comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel. It’s a gem!

A "classic" hotel, not brand new but well kept and maintained. Spacious room, with a view of the Kumamoto castle. Great bathroom, with a large bathtub. The staff is stylish, welcoming and helpful. Great breakfast, with a choice of Japanese or Western. Location couldn't be better. We left the car at the hotel parking and walked to the places we wanted to see. A relaxing stay.

It’s only 5 minutes walk to Kumamoto castle, and you can see the castle through the room window. They provides two types of breakfast: Japanese and westerners style for customers to choose. Parking just right by the hotel, but you need to pay ¥1000 for one night. (Not really sure if you can go in and out. )

The sink in the bathroom was super low, even though I am not tall (155cm) at all, but I also felt it was really low to use.

Super friendly & helpful staff, very clean room with comfortable bed. Good size space for a Japanese hotel room. Great location near tram stops, main thoroughfare & castle.

Everything was fine. The hotel is showing its age slightly with some décor but that is actually part of its charm, not being a clinically modern & characterless place.

The location is perfect, just next to everything e.g. castle, shopping arcade, restaurants. The room is clean with classical decorations . Staff is very helpful esp. Mr. Chris Raku who help me sought my missing thing issue. Thank you very much to him again.
