Very spacious and clean rooms, really good quality and friendly personnel. They all speak english if necessary.

Breakfast is not as shown in pictures on booking, probably it recently changed. It doesn’t have the quality standard of the rest of the hotel. Instead of buffet you have to go on the café next door but can only get one drink and one toast.

As a family of four we stayed in connecting rooms with kitchenettes. Clean and well-appointed rooms. In-room, easy-to-use washer/dryer was great! Great location for exploring Eastern Kyoto, and also close to Sanjo Stn with great train, bus, subway connections to reach other parts of the city and surrounding area. Friendly, helpful staff.

Set breakfast consisted of three varieties of grilled cheese sandwiches. They were good, but would have appreciated a little more variety (something other than grilled cheese) as we stayed for several days. Would also have been nice to have a few pots & pans for cooking.

The staff were very friendly and spoke good English. The location is great, close to the subway intersection at Sanjo, so getting to different areas was easy. Gion, Heian Jingu Pontocho within 10 minutes walk. We had an apartment room with a kitchenette with twin beds. The kitchen had everything to make a simple meal or just heat something up. The hotel does not serve breakfast, but with 2 Konbini within a 100 meters getting food is easy. The design of the hotel was lovely and it was also very clean. Beds and pillows were comfortable.

As with a lot of Japanese hotels, the windows do not open. The AC does its job wonderfully, but sometimes you want some real fresh air, especially during the night. There wasnt a lot of room to place our suitcases, certainly not to keep even one of them opened (2 people traveling with 1 suitcase each).

Where do I start, the staff was one of the best things about this hotel. From the moment I walked in they were courteous, attentive, and helpful beyond what you would expect. Luke, Ax and Nakagawa san went out of their way to make me and my group feel welcomed as well as others in our group that were not even staying there. Free coffee, tea, cold bottled water were available in the lobby at all times. The rooms were exceptional with nice wood decor inside and lovely bamboo decor in the hallways. Every floor had two FREE washing machines with detergent and softener to use. The third floor rooms had a washing machine IN THE ROOM! Each room on every floor had a stove, microwave, toaster oven and refrigerator if you felt like making your own meals. The location could also not be beat. It was just block from the Sanjo metro station and another few blocks from the famed Kyoto Gion district with lots of places to eat and drink. I really can’t say enough great things about this hotel and HIGHLY recommend staying here when you visit Kyoto.

The manager needs to reopen the bar because there were shelves of delicious spirits that weren’t available but only temping to look at. When I spoke with him he said that when they reopened after COVID it has become difficult to staff the bar as he would like. He did promise to have it open on my visit next year. 😀

Well equipped and comfortable room with windows and views. Laundry room available on each floor. Friendly and helpful staff who solved my allergy to feather bedding issue by (happily) providing me with blankets and polyester filled pillows as no synthetic filled duvets available. Lovely communal entrance area with free coffees, water etc. Breakfast is a toastie (3 options) with mini yogurt or pastries (both with coffee, tea, fruit juice etc.) served in adjoining small and friendly coffee shop. Easy walking distance to subway and also fascinating and endless shopping & eating mall with shrines and buzzing with life.

Right when we got there, we expressed concern because there was a crying baby next door to us. They moved us to another room with no hassle (albeit a slightly smaller one since that was what was available) and threw in free breakfast for our entire trip at the downstairs cafe. It was very convenient to have laundry machines right next to our room. The room was beautiful, an excellent combination of traditional and modern elements.

Walls were thin, so we had to move rooms because of a crying baby next our original room. I was under the impression that there was a public courtyard, but that's only for the top floor suite. Wish the toilet had its own actual sink with soap instead of having to go over to the bathroom to wash my hands.

The staff were friendly and helpful! The room was beautiful and modern. The room that I stayed in included a kitchenette and a washer/dryer! The location was about 5-6 walk from transit access and 7-8 minute walk to the busier area of the city. Many convenience store locations were close by. (This Family Mart: Japan, 〒605-0081 Kyoto, Higashiyama Ward, Miyoshicho, 2 Chome−３４２番３was the best! I found it was well stocked.) An FYI, the breakfast included is several types of grilled sandwiches and includes tea/coffee/juices. I tried the tuna melt!

The door to the shower had a bit of a narrow opening. I was able to get in fine, but other's may find it a bit challenging. The room layout is also a bit tight but this is not unusual for the larger cities in Japan! Takes some adaptation for those of us that are used a to bit more space.

Beautifully decorated rooms, clean and comfortable with a handy kitchenette and washing machine which we made use of. We had connecting rooms with our other family members which made it seem like an apartment. Perfect location to explore Kyoto close to the subway and downtown area with lots of shops and restaurants all walking distance.

There was a step up just inside the room which we tripped on until we remembered it was there. The light controls were in the furthest corner from the door which meant stumbling through the dark if you forget to leave the entrance light on. And we have bruises from the bed and shelf corners..

I had an amazing time during my stay in Gozan! The location is nice, about 3mins walk to Keihan and Sanjo stations which allowed me to visit many famous sightseeing destinations. 10mins walk to Gion area and Yakasa Shrine 20mins walk to Kiyomizu The staff members were very good at communicating with me in English, which was incredibly helpful. The room was quite spacious with a mini kitchen inside. They also had washing machines and room cleaning service was upon by requests but towels were replaced everyday. Thank you for taking such good care of me while I was traveling alone. Will come back someday!^^

Not really

One of the finest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. I mix of authentic and traditional Japanese style and western styles.(in my opinion) all the staff were kind and courteous. The location was quite close to the Ghion district, and I would gladly come here again.

Only minor things need changing. I’m an avid coffee fan and there were not any coffee packets in the room . The door to the bathroom should have an option of being open . It is currently only available to be closed. Would have like some of that humidity in the room. And I really don’t like turning my keys in to the staff while I go out but it is a good safety idea.
