Outstanding location. Really, the best possible in Kyoto - easy walk to Gion District sights, 5 minute walk across the bridge to Pontocho, 15 minutes to Nishiki Market, and literally a block to train (Nara, Osaka) busses and subway (all of Kyoto). Lobby is beautiful, staff friendly, professional, and fluent in English. Free 24/7; coffee machine (latte, cappuccino) in lobby is a wonderful idea and greatly appreciated at a jet-lagged 3:00 am!

The rooms are small, but that’s Japan.

Our 3 day stay at the Dhawa Yura Kyoto, was excellent. When we wanted to go to tourist locations the staff had a drawer full of detailed information in our language, they provided making every excursion including bus and train times and locations, easily manageable. The open common areas were even more favourably highlighted by the bamboo stand growing from the lower ground floor up to the ground floor sunlit ceiling. The very competent multi lingual (particularly English) staff at reception created a nice flurry in assisting everyone very promptly. They provided larger currency note breakdowns for commuting etc,.Their breakfasts were to die for, with the chefs providing personal service to all guests, the tea and coffee breakout room was great and being next to reception, as thoughts came to mind, the eager staff were on hand. Our room was spotless, the proximity to trains, buses and the main street were all within an enjoyable short walking distance, the Wi-fi and charging points for all our battery stuff (including mobile phones), and the little section near the window for an extra suitcase was brilliant.My wife commented on the slippers and quality of the bathroom personal items, you know like shampoo conditioner etc,. And the bath robes and towels were a good size.The fridge was cold with space to store your own cold goodies and the tea and coffee room facilities, good as well. They sent our luggage to our room on arrival and timely organised our cab on departure. The bill was exactly the sa.e as they had quoted us more than 6 months previously. This place just has to be on your list of most enjoyable stopovers.

The location of the property is excellent - a few minutes walk to Sanjio station (right outside the hotel), a 10-15min walk to Gion and right across the river is the main shopping district. You can easily get around either by the subway or local buses. Highly recommend this hotel for the convenience of its location and the room is huge compared to many Japan hotels.

The staff of Dhawa Yura were all extremely helpful and friendly--likely the best we have experienced in our many many years of travel both domestic and international. Rooms were spotlessly clean. Beds were very comfortable. The location near the center of town, across from a river, near Gion, and next to a subway was perfect. The hotel restaurant was excellent.

The rooms are very small, but then this is Japan! The glass wall separating the shower from the beds was annoying., providing a clear view of anyone on the toilet or in the shower. Fortunately there is a screen that can be lowered to provide privacy.

What a great hotel! This was my first time traveling to Japan and Kyoto in particular. I did a lot of research trying to find the right place to stay and definitely feel like I made the right choice. The hotel interior is as beautiful as it looks in the photos. The location is great and is a short walk from most of the areas in central Kyoto and has quick access to the Subway line nearby. Just as or more importantly, the staff was incredibly helpful. My partner and I arrived and we were a bit late for a reservation we had for a food tour of Kyoto. I had to run to the rental car place to drop our car off and my wife was left with two big huge suitcases and two backpacks. Mine was crazy heavy. The front desk attendant who couldn't have been more than 5 ft. tall and 100 pounds came around and helped my wife haul the bags upstairs. I felt AWFUL that I had to run out but just demonstrates how this hotel goes the extra mile to help you have a great experience. Highly recommend.

The property is beautiful and modern. Very well located in Gion with subway and bus lines very close by. Breakfast was excellent and our 6 year old ate for free. There is a lounge where you can get free coffee and tea and snacks which was a nice touch. The staff was excellent. From the bar manager to the breakfast chef, massage therapist and front reception staff, everyone we interacted with was friendly, helpful and professional.

The rooms are generally quite small with not a lot of room for your personal belongings. You need to get creative in putting your stuff away.

Excellent property in a fabulous location.Extremely clean and tranquil. Nice restaurant on-site. Very nice staff. Subway is one block away so easily can get to most sites. Ginza area and Ponchoto street is a short walk or one train stop away. Great Japanese and Western buffet breakfast with a choice of egg dish prepared to order. Sites in the Northwestern area ie Golden Temple and Bamboo forest are a bit far so we ordered a car, but we did all those in one day and spent the remaining time more on the East side of town.

This is a high quality hotel. It is a bit more expensive, but you pay for what you get. It was definitely exceptional and we strongly recommend it if you are willing to pay for it. The personnel at the reception was great. They have coffee free of charge. Breakfast was really good: a buffet with both Japanese and continental food. Location is excellent too, a 10 minute walk from Gion or Pontocho, or less, and next to the metro station and bus stops. The room is very nice, not very big, but very comfy bed and very nice and quite spacious bathroom.

Maybe it was us, but the coffee machine didn't work very well for us. But nothing to dislike really

Great hotel, ideally located, very nice and helpful staff, good breakfast and nice restaurant, and very relaxing massage treatments. Our room was not huge, but relatively big for japanese standards, but it was well organized, so we were able to store most of our things for the duration of our stay.

Nothing major, we thought there could be a little more choice for massages or the spa could also offer some salon services. Dinner (restaurant and in-room dining) had last order around 8pm, which is extremely early for tourists from certain countries, but then again, most of the restaurants in Kyoto seem to stop serving very early.

Huuuuuge and very comfortable bed, strong shower, fancy Sundari bath products, in-room Nespresso (plus downstairs coffee and snacks too), and well-suited central Kyoto location, just on the edge of Gion. This is obviously a newer hotel with modern comforts but blends well into the Kyoto landscape.

There are some quirks: rooms are very narrow in layout, so we kept banging into everything. The closets are also strangely set up and can only hold 3 hangers each, which was weird. Also, there are a limited number of e-bikes available on a first-come first serve basis; if you're not ready to go by 8 a.m., you will likely not have access to one.
