The hotel has a good location, it is near to bus station, subway station and main streets. The staff were amazing and thoughful, they asked us if we had a good trip, they congratulated us for our wedding, they gave us beauty masks, bath powder... We had a wonderful reception! The hotel structure is a little old but the room was spacious and clean! The room had good shampoo and lotions! I love it. The tv was smart and we could watch netflix in our account. I appreciated it! The hotel had bikes for rental and free umbrellas! We had Breakfast at the hotel and it was fair! It was well prepare and had local stuff.

It was a little expensive but I think it is because of the season (sakura season). It could have a vertical mirror instead of horizontal. It was not so convenient to have the washing machines at the kitchen because of the hour restriction. But I am glad that it was two of them.

Room provides enough space for two adults, two kids and luggage. The roof-deck is a nice feature that comes with this type of room. No need to be afraid of noisy guests, as there are no neighboring rooms on the same floor, and no-one above, as the room is on the top floor. Excellent breakfast both Western and Japanese style. Very friendly and helpful staff both at the reception desk and in the breakfast room. Location is close to Pontocho and only a few subway stations from the city center and the JR Main Station.

There was a humming sound all night long. I suspect it originates from a technical device on the roof-top. It did not really bother us, as we were pretty tired after long days of sight-seeing and after having delicious Japanese dinner outside.

The staff were lovely and very helpful. It was a short 2 min walk to the train station. 10min walk to Nishiki market and lots of restaurants. Perfect location. The breakfast was delicious and free drinks all night is great.

The hotel automatically changed the aircon to heating mode which made it uncomfortable inside the rooms as we were not able to change it ourselves to make the room cooler so it was too hot to sleep comfortably. It didn’t say that anywhere when we booked and I specifically choose places that have aircon as I like to sleep in a cool room so it was very disappointing to have a hot room that we were not able to change to our liking. I don’t think a hotel should choose what temperature your bedroom should be. That was a major turn off for me and I don’t think I would stay here again based on that issue.

Our room was a good size, free drinks were available from machines in the dining area, there were washer-dryers on site, location was good (near a metro station, coffee shops and some top attractions), staff were very helpful and friendly. Free bottles of water provided if we didn't have our room cleaned every day.

Only 2 washer-dryers, so one night we weren't able to wash clothes as we'd hoped. Decor was fine, but a little dated in places. Breakfast was basic, so we only had it on the first day.

The staff at Hana hotel was professional and very helpful answering questions about the area and ensuring that our stay in the hotel was satisfactory in all respects. The location was nice, close to the river short walk to train station, bus stops we needed to get to our destinations.

Breakfast wasn't included, which was fine with us. Laundry machine was not available during breakfast or lunch service, had to do laundry when we got back from long days of travel. The view of the room was not great, but all this was not too disappointing. Liked our stay.

The room is clean and comfy, location is convenient and staff are friendly, even down to the cleaners. Love that they provide a baby cot and an air purifier. A water dispenser is even provided in the hotel corridor so you don’t need to purchase your own water. If I can, would stay again :)

We went during winter and the heater was blasting away, and we weren’t given the option to manually turn on the AC. Can feel like a sauna.

Perfect location next to the metro Sanjo station. The room is the largest I have stayed in Japan, very comfortable. They also give each room a foot massage machine which is super nice.

I am not sure what happened one night during my stay, there were a lot of noise from the floor I stayed, like someone kept smashing the doors in the middle of the night. I am a solo traveller, and their price is strange, higher price for 1 person per night, and cheaper if I booked for 2 persons. I don't know if that was a mistake in the system.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff was super-friendly and usually spoke good English (which seems to be an exception in Japan, generally). The location is good, a 10-15 minutes walk away from some of the main attractions, as well as very close to a metro station, making it easy to connect to other parts of the town. The room we stayed in was spacious, with all the necessary amenities and items. Everything was super clean and tidy.

The only thing that we felt could've been better was the breakfast (we only paid for it for one day). The choices were a bit limited and the food was nothing to write home about.

Location cannot be beaten, especially with the access to the bus service to go all around Kyoto. There was one really friendly and helpful man on reception. The others did not seem so confident with their English and perhaps that’s why they did not come off as friendly. My room on the top floor was a really good size, and I liked the option of not having room cleaned every day. The bottle of water you got from doing that was an added bonus. Bed was really comfy. The ability to borrow hair straighteners.

There was no full length mirror in the room and no USB sockets so I had to buy additional adaptors. Bath took ages to drain so when having a shower you would be standing in the water. Fridge was really noisy so I had to turn it off every night leaving the items inside to get warm. Cafe was not a cafe, it was a dinning room with access to washing machines and a coffee machine.

For the price, this hotel is hard to beat. Reasonable size room, quiet, the breakfast (yen 1200) is perfectly ok (coffee is a small negative). Possibility to rent a bike for parts of the day.

The only criticism is the fee the hotel charges for an early check-in: yen 3000 for three hours. The entire hotel was empty, rooms were available and still they felt it necessary to charge. This is encountered frequently in Japan and hotels should rethink their policy in this respect.
