+ Very nice and helpful staff + Great location + Great value for price

- There were no curtains for the beds, so no privacy at all. I think curtains should be standard. - For some reason the blanket is not changed/washed after every guest. How it works is that you get a sheet that is supposed to be between you and the thicker blanket. So they don't wash the blanket, just the sheets. And the blanket just gets some spaying down after check-out. But most guests use the blanket without the sheet which means each guest is sleeping with a blanket that has already been used. Very unhygenic. After I found out I tossed my blanket and just used the sheet. Everything else was cleaned regularly.

First of all, all the employees there can speak decent English, and all of them are very friendly. I really like how they guide you through the check-in process and everything, and all the facilities provided by the hostel. They even got a dedicated shoe storage space and shoe dryer!!! I stayed in a 6-person mixed dorm, and each bed has 2 type-A plugs. The shower room is so clean and well-equipped. Body soap, hair shampoo, hair conditioner, and hair dryer are provided. Each floor has its own shower room, so everything is so good. On top of that, there is a common area on Level 2, and you can freely use any of the facilities (kitchen, fridge, cooking utensils, washing machine, etc.). Do note that you need to pay for the washing machine, but it's fine. They also provide slippers for all guests. The most caring part of the hostel is that there's Braille at the lift!!! I would 100% recommend this hostel and come back again in the future.

Nothing. Everything is perfect and exceeds my expectations.

The hostel was very clean & modern. The kitchen was spacious and well designed. The terrace was cool & had a great view. I enjoyed the common area - it was comfortable and guests didn't have to sit on the floor like in other more 'traditional style' hostels in Japan.

This hostel needs urinals for the male guests. It is not comfortable to use a toilet all the time. Inside the dormitories, the beds have no soundproofing - bunk beds are located right next to each other without walls or anything to block noise. Any guest who snores or makes noise in these dormitories will be heard by the entire room. This ruined the quality of sleep for many guests. Using ear plugs every night is uncomfortable for the ears.

The common area was the best I have experienced in a hostel environment. I was very thankful for the bean bags when I arrived and needed a nap. There kitchen is well equipped for all the meals you’d need to make. The rooms are a little tight but excellent use of under the bead for the locker. The bathrooms and toilets were clean and in very good condition. There is very helpful information on planning your trip in Kyoto in the downstairs area. There are umbrellas to borrow and bikes to rent. I took the bike for a short ride along the river. It was very nice.

No curtains on the beds. After experiencing this here I learnt that it is an essential for me.

Location is really good, close to Keihan line Shichijo station what gives you an opportunity to discover Gion, Fushimi Inary Srine, Uji city and other locations. The hostel is a 15-minute walk from Kyoto Station, and there are also bus stops nearby, which are very convenient for getting around the city. Towels are not provided, but you can rent them. There is a hairdryer and 3 showers on the floor (at this time of year, this was enough, I don't know how the situation is in high season). There is shampoo, shower gel, hair conditioner, and hand soap in the common area. The kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook something. There are refrigerators, drinking water, etc. You can store your luggage before check-in and after check-out. The staff is great and always helpful if you have any questions. You can also use umbrellas for free and borrow chargers if you need them. The place itself is pretty quiet.

It was pretty cold for me in most of the common areas (I believe it's not the problem of the place, but my personal). I didn't expect that the men's and women's showers and toilets were in the same place, so it was very uncomfortable when someone of the opposite sex came out in a towel or half-stretched. In my opinion, it would be better to regulate this issue with additional rules for those who will live, as rebuilding the hostel, in my opinion, will be more difficult. I would also like the hostel to add curtains to the beds, especially in the mixed rooms, to create more privacy for travelers.

The location is really great, and the hostel in itself is good. We had a private room, which makes such a big difference. We didn't use the kitchen but the shared bathroom was always clean and it's comfortable. We were located in the second building next to the main one. Our building was calm, and guests were respectful of it. They provide slippers to walk inside and lockers for the room. Towels are not included but you can rent one for 100¥.

I think our experience would have been different if we had been in a shared dorm. If you're not used to hostels but still want an option cheaper than hotels, I'd recommend booking a private double room here.

- Facilities are clean and everything is really organized and straightforward. - Staff is nice, and they all seem to speak English well - Location is pretty convenient -- about 10 minutes to Kyoto Station and 5 minutes to another train station that easily gets you to a lot of touristy destinations (Gion, Arashiyama, etc.)

- Small detail, but their 4 and 6 bedroom rooms did not have curtains around each bed. Their 8 bedroom room did though and I appreciated that extra bit of privacy despite the room technically having more people in it. - Hostel seems to lean more towards party-vibes (which can be a pro or con depending on what you're looking for). I personally didn't like how loud the lobby area could get. - Prices seemed to fluctuate quite a bit -- I decided to stay in Kyoto for longer and wanted to originally extend my stay, but the price for extending a few days seemed to almost be over double the cost (granted I think it was a combination of weekend booking + upcoming holiday), so I transferred to a different accommodation.

This is a good hostel to meet people, or at least be surrounded by other travelers. It has a giant lounge where everyone likes to hang out or chill, especially lively in the evening. It also has a terrace.

We had to bring our room cards with us everywhere we went, because the bedroom doors automatically lock when you go out. There was a tax charge that I had to pay when I checked in—I’m not sure why they didn’t charge me when I paid for the booking online. Also, the beds do NOT have curtains or coverings! This was the first time I encounter a hostel without bed curtains, it was a bit awkward since I couldn’t even change cloths comfortably.

Excellent location - walking distance from Kyoto and Shichijo train stations, and some bus stops. Some tourist spots are also walkable from the hostel. The staff are very accommodating, and always available on the aforementioned time. The rooms (esp. bed/mattresses) and common areas are very clean. Really appreciate the suggestions board on the first floor - I was able to enjoy autumn views because of it.

The luggage storage within the rooms is small for someone who has multiple luggage but is not a concern if your roommates are trustworthy, or you brought your own luggage locks.

Cheap (for Kyoto) Friendly staff Clean Great common area with big kitchen and lots of space Dorms have personal locker that fits all your stuff

Location not near anything, 1km from train, 2km from nearest main site. Not massively isolated, just a bit irritating to need long walk or short train ride to get to interesting places. We had dorm beds near the door and some trouble sleeping. Light from hallway and noise of heavy door every time someone came in or out Beds have locker underneath for big bag but no space or shelf beside bed for small bag, charger, phone, water etc
