The breakfast!! You don't need it for all the days you are staying since it is 2800 yen/person (definitely on the pricier side) but there are tons of options and it is delicious. It would be even better for someone who can eat a lot in the morning. I stayed 4 nights and opted to have breakfast on just 2 mornings since it is pretty much the same every morning. You can pay at the reception instead of during the booking if you aren't sure you'll like it. Public onsen is nice and has many options for baths - but only when there aren't a lot of other folks, especially super loud families who are shouting at each other. It definitely ruins the experience a little bit. Would be great if the staff could tell people to stop doing that. Free popsicles, instant noodles, and washer were awesome. I thought the 200 yen fee for the dryer was fair.

We were stuck taking buses in Kyoto pretty much the whole time because of the location. We learned pretty quickly that the buses are extremely crowded, expensive (230 yen flat fee per ride if you don't get the bus pass), and not always reliable or on time. This is not the fault of the hotel, but something to note. It's not near the metro and only close to Kyoto Station. That might be good if you plan for a short stay, but I could barely use the metro for this reason. However, it was near 4 bus stops, so if you come during a non-busy season, the buses will be a decent option. The wifi was also spotty but if you have a good pocket wifi, it works well.

- Hotel is clean! Staff performs regular cleaning of the rooms everyday. - I like how the hotel gives a guide to their facilities using your room’s TV. - You can check in your room’s TV if the onsen is full, or if someone is using the laundry machines on the first floor. - Hotel gives complementary drinks that you can take away - perfect after a long travel. I would recommend the matcha latte. - Hotel also gives free noodle service (9:00-11:00 PM) to its guests. - Hotel also gives free ice cream - perfect after onsen. - The Japanese breakfast buffet is delicious! - I like how the property is near to Kyoto Station, convenience stores, stores, and restaurants.

- Onsen rules are not strictly implemented.

This hotel absolutely exceeded expectations. Rooms were clean, comfortable, and felt very new, with no superfluous frills but everything thoughtful laid out. The real highlight was the various amenities—great onsen (3 types of pools and 2 saunas), complementary snacks in morning and evening, and helpful and polite service. The hotel is 5 minutes’ walk from Kyoto Station, so a great place to stay while doing day trips to Himeji, Nara, Kobe, Osaka, etc. Hotel guests were a mix of families, couples, and business travelers. Overall, a great place worth revisiting. One thing to note—despite the indication of a shared bathroom, rooms have private baths including shower (in addition to shared onsen baths downstairs).

The whole place was very clean! we get to wear the hotel attire and walk around the whole place. The onsen is small, not like those major onsen places, but it is good enough and you get free ice cream or probiotics drink at the onsen. There is also laundry in the onsen area Breakfast spread was great, you pile a mountain of sashimi for your own chirashi bowl. Location is great, it’s very near the train station, (less than 5mins walk). You can actually base here to go to Nara or even Osaka and Kōbe.

There are quite a few hotspring baths available, and the breakfast buffet has variety of dishes, drinks.

The hotel is very crowded; there are about 60+ rooms per level (rooms are level 2-9) hence the hotspring baths can get very crowded in the morning and evening/ nights (baths are closed from 9am to 3pm for cleaning). The room is also a bit small for 2 pieces of luggages (mine is 22sqm, will have to close luggage after use or else no space to walk).

I've stayed at 5 Ryokans now and this was one of my favorites. Starting with it being a 6 minute walk from the Kyoto train station. Once I arrived, the staff were very friendly and were easy to speak with in English. One unique aspect that I had not experienced before was you remove your shoes at the entrance of the hotel and store them in a locker. The floors of the entire hotel are tatami which feels very comfortable and inviting. The decor of the hotel felt modern Ryokan/spa with calming music playing in the hallways and lighting and decor to match. The room was comfortable and clean, including the bed. Although the room wasn't particularly large I appreciated how the entry and bathroom sink were separated from the bedroom by a pocket door. The two-piece yukata was very comfortable and I spent all my time while in the hotel wearing it. The highlight of my stay was the onsen facilities. They had 5 different bath types, warm shower stone seats, a sauna, and a rain shower bath. I spent 2 sessions per day enjoying these offering over my 4 day stay. On top of all this, the stay included multiple freebies: -Late evening ramen -Post-onsen popsicles -Laundry washers (dryers cost money, but were cheap. I believe 100 yen for 20mins) -Massage Chairs

There wasn't anything to dislike about the hotel. If I were being picky, I would wish there were more dining options nearby.

I loved EVERYTHING from this hotel. From the moment you enter it feels lush! Not only is it beautiful, clean and peaceful, but there are many extra things you can have for free which took us by surprise. This included things like soba noodles, ice cream and probiotic milk (all available for free within a given time). It is a traditional Japanese hotel so if you are looking for an immersive experience of Japanese culture in Japan, look no further. The bed was super comfy, pillows like clouds, very spacious (I was surprised at how much space we had) and one of the best hotel showers i have experienced. The onsen was amazing, with many pools, both indoors and outdoors, including a sauna. The products provided in the onsen left my hair glossy and my skin feeling like a baby. The location was perfect, around 7 min walk to Kyoto station, access to many bus routes, shops and connivance stores within the same street. The staff was great, very friendly, helpful and many spoke great English. By far one of the best hotels i have ever stayed in. When i come back to Kyoto i will be staying here again!

Very nice traditional hotel (you need to take off your shoes as you enter which is unusal for a large hotel). Even our suitcase wheels were cleaned by the staff. Very comfortable hotel. Excellent as it had hotspring baths. I dont know about the restaurant for breakfast as we didnt eat there.

I would have liked a separate private or family bath in the hotspring as I am not used to walking around without any clothes at all even though the hotsprings are separate for men and women. Many hotsprings inns have a very small private or family bath you can pay a fee for.

Clean room with tatami flooring, a sitting area, and plenty of outlets. Bed and pillow were very firm, which I liked, and the options for the translucent or opaque window coverings was really nice. This place offers a lot of amenities! The Ibsen’s are beautiful, there are massage chairs for guests washing for laundry is free with coin operated dryer. I didn’t end up trying the ramen, but the popsicles and Yakult were a nice afternoon treat.

The location is about a 10 mins walk to the Kyoto station. Breakfast, located in the 1F restaurant area, is a buffet style that includes both Japanese and Western style breakfast. The hot spring can be used throughout the day, and you can use the free massage machine. There is a free night snack hour of yakisoba noodle, which is very convenient and satisfying.
