It was lovely to have high quality croissants and coffee for breakfast. Maybe some fruit would have been a nice additional touch? We loved the personal contact with the staff. On tablet with information was great and it had useful restaurant information however if we asked reception for restaurant recommendations all they did was point us to the ones on the "app" and ask us to choose one. They should participate in some family in local establishments so that they can make good recommendations. All the staff were friendly and warm and most have excellent to good English. We particularly appreciated that use of the laundry was complimentary. Our room size was fabulous but we did have the largest room available. For a lengthy stay this made things really comfortable.
The idea of the evening drinks was nice however there wasn't really anything we liked to drink. White wine never seemed to be available the the red wine was not really ro my taste. I ended up buying wine from the great wine shop over the road and having an evening drink in our room which meant we missed the convivial atmosphere. There was a weird situation where we had to be out of our room one day for an hour for "deep cleaning". We weren't in any way compensated for the fact that we have to be gone by that time; and no one really explained what "deep cleaning" was - we were told something about a spray and the effect of these chemicals on my possessions and to be breathing them worried me.

Details - I like the fact that the room was equipped with an oven that allows patrons to have their cold food heated up. I came during winter in Feb 24 and I reached the hotel late at night with my cold bento. It was lovely to just see an oven in my room. The room was also equipped with a rag that has a warm rod where it warms up your hung clothes ensuring you put on warm clothes in this winter. Also, the air purifier is switched on 24/7 for you and the water is changed by the hotel staff during room service. Unlike some hotels, to switch on the purifier, I will have to also maintained it on my own. Overall, out of the 3 hotels I stayed in Japan for 2 weeks, this hotel definitely left me with great impression in terms of the consideration taken to a patron's needs. The room was superbly clean especially the carpet, I did not spot dust at corners that was hard to reach. Toilet was neatly designed with the shower room separated from the dry area. Location - Walking distance to subways and the central. You can also walk to Yasaka Shrine =) Food - There is a tablet in the room that has recommendations to delicious food nearby and I tried this place that is about 300m walk to have really good Gyoza, ginger soup, potato salad and rice. I went there on a winter, rainy night and it was so good to have this meal.
Breakfast could have a variety and milk with tea as I don't take coffee.

EVERYTHING! The location is brilliant - right in Gion. The room is large, spectacular and so well appointed. The shower is amazing and the bed so comfy. The staff could not be more helpful - so attentive and so friendly - and the complementary croissant and coffee to start the day was a lovely touch. It was my husband’s birthday and the hotel made it really special with an impromptu card and a small bottle of champagne. The hotel is small - only 10 rooms - making it so intimate. The hotel have a washer dryer onsite and were very helpful when we used it (3 times!).

Best hotel I have ever stayed in! My partner and I stayed here for a vacation we took in November. The staff was so kind and helpful, everyone spoke excellent English which was helpful for us as we did not speak Japanese. The room was huge and very clean. We loved having a bathtub to relax in after sightseeing. The croissants and coffee in the morning was wonderful! The staff really went above and beyond to help us and give recommendation, we even received a free upgrade!

I booked this location because of the amazing photos of the hotel and the fantastic reviews about the service. Both exceeded my expectations! The design is impeccable, the room was extremely comfortable and quite spacious for Japan, with many thoughtful details (like an iPad for extra info, converter, clothing spray, and more) and very clean. However the service really went above and beyond. Each staff member knew my name and helped me with everything from sending my luggage prior to my arrival, to booking a restaurant for me, and calling taxis for me when I needed one. Being located in the historic Gion neighborhood surrounded by beautiful walking streets and delicious restaurants was a big bonus. Will definitely stay here again.
A full breakfast was not included, but the hotel is upfront about this. However the coffee, orange juice, and croissants was a nice touch. The hotel is also located right next to a 7/11 so I would just pick up an onigiri and be good to go!

The staff were extremely helpful, considerate, and attentive. The rooms were well laid out and the bathrooms were excellent . Very clean. Walking distance to Maruyama Park, Pontocho, and a row of sakura along a lovely photogenic canal.
The location in Kyoto Gion should have been a pleasure, but was so overcrowded that it was nearly impossible to get into a restaurant or walk through the main streets. It was “Times Square on New Years” crowded. This detracted from the experience and we had no outstanding meals. A quieter neighborhood would have been better.

What an incredible find! This wonderful boutique hotel is a modern take on a traditional ryokan. We were a family of 5 and enjoyed 3 nights in 2 rooms at this little gem. Set in the bustling night life district of Gion, we felt like locals. The staff were friendly and attentive. The rooms were absolutely spotless and every amenity thought of. The Nespresso coffee machine was a winner but my favorite feature was the bathroom. So much fun in the shower room and I am sure that the very fancy toilet could read my mind! Haha. A wondrous experience.
Everything was perfect. I didn’t like that we had to leave!! We will be back.

The best accomodation we had in Japan. Checking in was very simple and done a day prior so that everything will be easy on the day you arrive. Stupendously clean. Very accomodating staff and very helpful as well. They sorted out our luggage issues 😂. Rooms sizes are very adequate and spacious, compared to most hotels in major Japanese cities. Having the laundry was a big help for people who were in japan for a few days or weeks and The best part is, its free of charge. And don’t forget to have your free brewed coffee with croissant for your breakfast 😬. Will definitely consider coming back on our next trip in Kyoto!

Beautiful building, so serene after day with the maddening crowds. Quiet ++, slept so well. Brilliant position, able to get up early and walk Gion area in peace. Walking distance to Potoncho Alley and market. Train line to Fushian Inari is 5 minutes walk away. Crossiant for breakfast is perfect, quick and tasty and you can get going with your day. Front of house staff are attentive and sweet. Suggested and booked an amazing restaurant for us, a short walk away. Organised on forwarding of luggage and taxi to Kyoto station. We were enchanted!

The location is exceptional. The hotel offers access to all the sightseeing one could hope to achieve. There are excellent food options around as well. The rooms were very clean and had a somewhat traditional Japanese feel without leaning fully into the ryokan style.
The triple room was quite cramped for our family of 3. Also, while the staff were friendly, the hotel took modernization a little too far by having guests check themselves in on iPads and book luggage forwarding by the same means. For the price, I would hope for less trouble, although the staff were again very helpful in walking us through the above.
