location was perfect. quiet but near where all the action is. everything is walkable. we loved crossing over the bridge to Pontocho. there’s a Lawson convenience store directly across. there’s also a lot of good massages in the area. dining option was plentiful (check out Sui in Gion) room was slightly bigger than others I’ve stayed in. clean. i love that you can drink tap water in Kyoto

the pillow was a bit hard and high, but the hotel staff was so kind to find an alternative cushion for me

The best hotel we stayed at in Japan! The room was great, very spacious. The staff were very helpful and the location is fantastic!

The only minor downside is the lack of internal laundry in the hotel, however there is one very close to the hotel. This wasn’t an issue at all for us though, and we recommend this hotel highly!

Everything about this hotel was nice. The room was so spacious, clean and with a fridge and a kettle. The beds were so nice and comfy. Staff was friendly and helped and one of them spoke English very well. The location cannot be beat. In the heart of GION. Be sure to book very early. I checked the prices and the same room cost 3 times more when it was close to arrival time.

The rooms were very spacious in comparison to many Japanese hotels. The beds and facilities made our stay incredibly comfortable. This little hotel is positioned close to Shirakawa Lane and other historical Gion streets. There are ample great restaurants close by. It’s a short walk from Gion-Shijo station, and Yasaka Shrine is 5 minutes walk away. Staff were very helpful.

great location, near enough to the walking streets but far in enough from the crowds. friendly staff. room cleaning is impeccable. room size is massive.

find another way to send your luggage that is hopefully cheaper. we sent 2 luggages for $45 just from kyoto to osaka. we previously sent our luggages from osaka to tokyo for just $36.

One of the front desk staff not that friendly. Signage for the hotel could be better! They won’t clean the room unless you’re staying a long period but will give fresh towels. No breakfast but there’s a Tulleys coffee shop a minute away

Great location, small boutique hotel in the middle of the action. Great value for money.

I thought I lost my hotel key (plastic) and hotel was going to charge me $2,000 yen (about $20 dollars), which is outrageous, as most hotel would just replace it. This may not be specific to this hotel and maybe how things work in Japan, I don’t know. Luckily my key was found inside!

Loved the location and the room was great.

The Café downstairs was not open so no breakfast possible at the property. Think this was just temporary as it looked like they were doing some construction, but would have been handy to have it before setting out to sightsee for the day…
