Traditional Japanese style Ryokan in Gion, close to Higashimaya historic district. So very central location to explore one of the main touristic areas in Kyoto. We had half-board. Two excellent meals. First night fish based in kaiseki style. Second night sukiyaki with plenty of marbled beef. The en-suite in the room had a "mini" version of Japanese onsen-style. Big public japanese onsen-style baths were available in highest floor and at ground floor - they alternated between mens and ladies (morning ground floor men, evening highest floor men, next day morning highest floor men, next evening ground floor men)

This place probably had the best hospitality throughout my 2 weeks trip in Japan!! Everyone was so kind and you can genuinely feel their sincerity in service! I had the kyo-kaiseki dinner served in my room, which was beautiful and delicious! But the highlight for me was the breakfast. It was served in a splendid tatami room, the meal was delicately arranged. Everything was so beautiful and I couldn't stop weeping for the whole 10 minutes!!! I've never felt so much taken care of in all my life! The facility is not the fanciest, but the room etc are very well maintained and immaculately clean! I thank everyone there; from the reception, the lady who served my kaiseki dinner (I forgot to ask her name), those who served the breakfast, the man who made up our futon bed. Huge thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of you for making this such a memorable stay for me! I would love to come back again and stay longer here!

Nothing. This place really exceeded my expectation!

The staff and food here were wonderful. We had a kaiseki dinner and an absolutely lovely breakfast and both were exquisite. The location was great and the room large enough to fit four of us and our luggage. The staff were kind enough to store our baggage both before and after our stay so that we could further explore Kyoto. The staff were also very responsive to emailed questions. The overall experience was wonderful and highly recommended, especially for the reasonable price.

The baths were clean but unfortunately the rooftop is either male or female, with the other gender on the first floor with no view. The rooftop baths also had a surrounding wall so none of us really got a view. One of our party is larger size and could not fit into the robes provided, even after discussing different options with staff. I’d suggest guests with larger bodies to bring their own.

The staff was great, especially Keiko, who was very helpful and very nice to us. We loved the location as well. Couldn't be better ! We liked the little attentions to details, like the paper crane in the morning, the sweets and also the presents. Very kind and thoughtful. And it was very clean.

It was a great experience within the price range - we absolutely enjoyed it.

This was an absolute dream for us. Traditional experience at its best ! The dinner was AMAZING, breakfast aswell. The room was 100% traditional japanese experience. The hotel staff was extremly kind and helpful with everything, sending them my greetings while we are back in Italy. We realy had the best time and i cannot reccomend enough this place. Location was also perfect ! Thank you !

The staff was great! Super friendly and helpful. The dinner included different dishes which were all very good and different from other food we had during our stay in Japan. The same applies for the breakfast. The room is spacious and very clean. I personally loved the futon bed, but this is about personal preferences really.

Very traditional Japanese hotel, very kind staff, attentive to our every need. Room looked very traditional. Dinner and breakfast were traditional and very nice. Very well located.

Hotel looked a bit dated, specially the toilets.

The hospitality was top notch. Awesome location in the Gion district. We only stayed one night but it was a key highlight of our trip. We got an exceptional taste of traditional Ryokan.

We were in need a laundry services that weren't available. Had to figure out another solution.

i had very authentic 10 tatami mats washitsu with real shoji!. Onsen, especially the one on the top floor is breathtaking. its very clean. the hosts are very kind and providing very good hospitality. I strongly recommend!

Simply amazing. Original Japanese experience. One of the things that will stick with us for the future.
