Perfect place to stay in the heart of Kyoto - Gion. For me the location was everything since it allowed me to explore things at night while there are less tourists. Kōdai-ji temple looks amazing at night, and even just strolling through Gion is amazing. It is in a main street with bus station nearby. There is also a metro station maybe 500 meters away. It was easy to move around. The hotel room was nice, since they are never too big, they had elevated beds were we could store our luggage, this is a plus. Hotel had all the amenities. Staff was nice and really helpful when we decided to use the services that ship our bags to the next hotel. Helped us with the paperwork and even confirmed with the next hotel that everything was ok to receive our bags there.

Air conditioning is not controlled by the guests or even by the hotel. It was so cold in the room that we could only turn it off and hope to be warmer. As a solution, hotel asked if we wanted more blankets... After turning it off it was ok, but it never felt as comfortable as other hotels were we control the A/C. Breakfast seems expensive at the hotel so we did not try it, but there are a lot of places to have breakfast a few meters from the hotel.

Wonderful location right on a busy street with lots of food shops, souvenir shops, and personal care and cosmetic stores. For us, the station we needed to use was relatively close to a subway station, just a few minutes walk away. The room was bigger than your average sized Japanese business hotel room, but it could be because this hotel seems to largely cater to tourists. We were able to comfortably fit our 2 pieces of luggage in the room no problem. Very generous with amenities, they even provide hair ties for women!

The hotel staff seemed to speak limited English, but were polite and helpful nonetheless.

The best location! In front of Yasaka Shrine, walking distance Ninenzaka, Senenzaka, Kiyomuduzera, Nishiki Market and a lot more. 1 train to Fushima Inari, 1 bus to philosophers path. We watched the sunset at the nearby river while drinking coffee, had walked throught the streets of Gion at night, walked through temples in the morning. Starbucks at 1st floor and outside is full of japanese street foods. Good hotel breakfast, the rooms were clean and big enough, good ammenities. Loved my stay here for 5days in Kyoto.

Loved the location, fairly close to station stops, convenient stores and Kiyomizu deru temple, lots of convenient stores and kimono rental and most of them don't need reservations I noticed, so walk in was okay. Bed was comfortable with amenities provided, they do have scheduled room service but they do call before hand if you're okay or not, building has its own Starbucks too. Would definitely recommend.

Nothing really, pretty great experience, rooms are small, as most are I believe in Japan, but not really note worthy to be a negative comment.

Everything! The hotel was cozy, had night lighting, ambience, the bed was so comfy, the wifi was fast, there was nice hot shower and bathroom shampoo, soap, amenities, and the buffet breakfast was so good; There was udon, fish, nice croquettes, , duck loin, pasta, cereals, and coffee. Location was a 10; Right in the heart of Gion-shijo and near the Yasaka Shrine and the Kawamachi street where Ben's cookies (The best cookies in Japan!), all the restaurants and near the sakura mocchi store where they sell probably the most delicious mocchi in Japan. Will highly recommend!

My stay was too short; Apparently, 5 days goes so fast here, would love to stay longer here!

The location was exceptional! Very well located and I enjoyed how easy was to hang around by walking. The city landscapes are just amazing, lots of convenience stores nearby and I hardly could imagine a better location. The room was very clean and the staff is polite, especially the folks from the breakfast.

I had the same issue with another APA Hotel: it's very impressive how a so touristic place and hotel that apparently receives so many foreigners lacks a better understanding of English. I didn't had much trouble, but during the night time the staff was 100% full Japanese with no English, which when I needed, it made communication much harder. Don't get me wrong here, they were incredibly polite, but from the price tag, reputation, and location, it really didn't crossed my head I'd face this.

The location was super central, the room had everything we needed. It was a very small room, but we discovered this was the norm in Japan and to be honest we were out and about so much we didn't need it to be super spacious. The bed was a comfortable size and the air-conditioning was hugely appreciated in 37 degrees Celsius of heat! Staff were super efficient, polite and friendly.

The view from the window was partial, because of a privacy screen protecting the room next door as we were on a corner of the building. But what we could see was great!

The room was well equipped, quiet and clean. The staff was helpful, we were cold one night due to bad weather, and they immediately provided a heater for our room. I'm okay with small rooms and tiny bathrooms because I'm small, but if you are bigger than 190cm you should think twice :)

The room is very small, which is a feature of Apa hotel so that's okay I guess, but there was no good space for our large luggages. Maybe you can open one on the floor, but not two. (Standard Large luggage for airlines)

Great location near beautiful streets of Gion and Yasaka Jinja/Maruyama Park. Bus stops very near. Great cleaning and nice variety of complimentary toiletries. Breakfast served also some western foods like croissants and cereal. Staff was super nice.

Room was small, which I knew beforehand. But maybe a little more hooks for clothes and bags would help. Vending machine at the 4th floor didn't work.

Location is right in the middle of Gion, right beside Yasaka shrine. This can both be a good thing (you can go to Yasaka or Sannenzaka just by walking) and a bad thing (the streets can get very crowded in the afternoon and evenings and makes it hard to get back to the hotel)

I wish they would replace the bed linens maybe every 2 days instead. Or just give us bed linens and we will replace them ourselves.
