first of all, I would like to stay here again next time. The facility is new, staff kind and warm. Easy access by taxi. Room clean. DIY bread is good
(1)on the web, please state that you have Wheelchair access so that people can know before they travel (because from the street to the lobby-check in , you have to go down by stairs, difficult for wheelchair user) (2) Every staff should know this too, not after one day stay and some other staff told us. We did not know at the first day when check in (3) If guest needs taxi, please go out the counter and help them, not saying" it is easy to get one on the street" (4) Laundry machine is not friendly for foreigner, we do not have the card to pay, also, only one machine is not enough (5) We asked a shower chair after confirmed booking , but the answer is NO. Is it possible in the future, prepare shower chair for customers if they need, Or state on the website, you can not provide this.

Great location to access the major attractions, Geon School, Museum, Temple, shops and restaurants. The early morning free tour around the neighbourhood was great. You need to book early because our first choice date had been fully booked. Hotel is very clean as if it was just built. You must remove your shoes when entering your hotel room. Everything is well organized and clean.
Can't find a grocery to buy bananas for my husband's breakfast. Can't find regular grocery stores to buy food for cooking on our own. We asked for a kitchen, but didn't have food to cook. Hotel offers making your own bread breakfast which we didn't reserve the service.

The room size is very large by Japanese standards, an apartment rather than a hotel room. We loved the Japanese style bedding - with an active 1yr old the floor beds took a lot of stress out of our stay. Everything was exceptionally clean, the location in the heart of old Gion was amazing, a part of Kyoto we hadn't explored before.
The bread maker was a bit of a rort - 30 Aud for bread mix for a small loaf and toppings which we didn't use. The smell of fresh baked bread wasn't really worth it for us but we didn't find out the price until checkout. A note that it's not very accessible, with the entrance down steep stairs. If you have limited mobility this may not be the place for you

The room was very spacious and very nicely decorated. The kitchen, sitting area, toilet and bathroom were modern and beautiful. Right next to the room was a room with washing machines and dryers, which was a bonus for us. The staff was very kind and helped with any problem that arose. The hotel is in an excellent location and everything is modern and aesthetic.
This is a "problem" in all hotels since the Corona - which reduce the cleaning days in the rooms to once every few days. The cleaner changed towels and threw away trash, but for example dishes in the sink were left for us to wash. The breakfast is experiential - but less suitable for us. There was a bread baker and we did follow the instructions and baked bread that was ready in the morning and we could eat it with 6 different spreads - some of them very "Japanese" and less suited to our children's taste. For breakfast the next day, they brought us in advance a personal bento box for each guest with a variety of types of sushi. Again, it didn't suit our taste, who can't eat fish and seafood "first thing in the morning".

The room was super comfy and big, also the design is really nice. This hotel is perfect for families because the room has a lot of space, bathroom and toilet are separated and there is a kitchen and living room in the room, so you can buy food and cook it.
The breakfast was not what I was expecting, one day we had a bread with some spreads like butter and egg spread (we did in our room the bread with a machine, which was a cool experience). My friends stayed at OMO5 in other part of Kyoto and their breakfast was bad too.

Location can’t be better! We loved passing through the red gates across the street to explore the all the gardens, temple complexes, and tea houses. We even tried some of the hiking paths up the mountain. You are also right on the best street in Gion, with fun shopping and food. We found other tourist areas, like the Nishiki market and the Ninen Zara path, to be an easy walk away. The staff was great and we liked trying all the recommendations for different treats in the area. The beds were comfy and we enjoyed the extra room and the large dining area to eat our snacks on. I will definitely stay again!
No complaints.

Loved the location, right in the heart of Gion. Easy to find, the staff were very friendly. The room had plenty of space and a cute little kitchen. There's a breadmaker in the room and they supply the ingredients to make your own bread for breakfast, we didn't do this as we prefer to go out early but it's a novel idea.
No window in our room, apart from one that looks out into the hallway but it didn't bother us.

The location was the main reason for booking this hotel and it didn’t disappoint. We finished at the end of the day from visiting Kiyomizu dera and could just walk to our room and woke up early to explore Sannezaka and ninenzaka before the crowds. The kitchen needed some butter knives but was well equipped for breakfast other than that. As with all our Japan trip accommodation cleanliness, service and room/bathroom were excellent
The laundry facilities could be better, the dryer wasn’t working but swallowed 4x 15 mins slots of 100yen

We had such a great stay at OMO5 Kyoto Gion that we wanted to book another night but were sad to find out that they were sold out. Pros: - This location is fantastic. - The staff are kind and helpful - even if English may be a little bit of a struggle. -We enjoyed the spaciousness of the room with kitchenette and the hotel’s complimentary toiletries. - We loved the early morning walking tour - our wonderful guide spoke enough English to explain some of the major highlights and showed us some non-touristy spots as well. -The make-your-own bread for breakfast was super fun! I loved the matcha and red bean pastes the hotel provided. -Luggage transportation service from Kyoto station was really helpful as we arrived in Kyoto the morning before our check-in. -The hotel allowed us to leave our luggage for a while after check out. -Hip, modern design of the hotel is cool.
CONS: -The sofa and cube in our room were a bit worn. -There’s no cabinet for clothes but there is a rack with hangers. -The bed is a mattress on the floor, so it moved around a bit. However, I’m not sure how to prevent this.

Located in downtown Kyoto, in front of the Yasaka Shrine, and on a popular shopping street. Offered free ice, water, coffee & a bread maker in the room (I did not use this amenity). Room was set up with a low bed on the floor and a sofa cushions that could be arranged to be a second bed. Felt a bit more traditional Japanese but still very modern.
Coming off the street you have to take stairs up and down into the hotel. When carrying heavy luggage this can be a bit more challenge, but overall not too bad.
