Couldn't have asked for a better base from which to explore Chinatown during Lunar New Year! This hotel is one of the nicer offerings in the immediate Shinchi Chinatown area, and we looked forward to coming back each night from a day out exploring. Housekeeping was superb; they always turned our room over in record time. The hotel was kept in great condition and staff was very kind. We were missing towels in our room, and they always gladly supplied them when we asked. The room, while very small, had a great window-seat couch that we used often as a place to snack and watch movies as a family. Loved the view from our room, too!

The bathroom felt a little dated compared to the quality of the rest of the room/hotel. The shower curtain had a tendency to blow into the user mid-shower and we struggled to keep the shower head from turning into the wall. A shower door would make a world of difference.

Location-wise, Candeo Hotels Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown was great. It was at the heart of the city and wasn't very far from the JR station via tram. Breakfast was continental although I had to pay extra for it. But best of all was the spa. This was available to all clients and was open to all. The best time to head in, if you're shy, is about 5-6 PM.

There wasn't much I didn't like during my stay. I do acknowledge that some of the breakfast options were a little limited but it was overall a decent selection. While I would have preferred it was closer to a few of the tourist sites, the tram ride wasn't very long.

Beautiful hotel in such a great location! This is just a short walk to Shinchi Chinatown and a great spot to stay at for the Nagasaki Lantern Festival. Both front desk attendants I spoke to spoke English as well. Simple toiletries like wash clothes, razors, shaving cream, hair brushes, and cotton swabs are available by the front desk and toothbrushes are in the rooms with a set of comfy pajamas to use! You can also use these to transit to the sky spa on the 12th floor. We had to get pay parking, which there was plenty of before 6pm on a Friday night of a festival weekend, and also a very short walk from the hotel. At the bottom of the hotel is a drugstore in case you need to purchase any toiletries you forgot to pack and aren’t available by the front desk. The front desk for check in is on the 11th floor and the guest rooms are on floors 2-10. There is a sky spa at the top that is open to public use but tattooed guests are not permitted. Men and women get different cards to access the spa. For those complaining, no tattoos is the culture here and it needs to be respected. This goes for most onsens, pools and waterparks. There are places in Beppu or around Japan that will allow tattoos, that is on you to educate yourself about the culture and ask. Do not punish a company with a rude review because you didn’t know. We didn’t do their breakfast buffet but it smelled so good and it was very busy. I made reservations on Booking.com and check in and check out was very easy. Smoking room is also on the 11th floor with a nice sky terrace to sit outside.

Rooftop bath was wonderful. The staff were incredibly polite and helpful. Rooms were a bit small—with no desk, which was a bit inconvenient in my case. But the breakfast buffet was really excellent, with great views from the dining room. So was the location right in Chinatown, and proximity to public transportation.

My only real complaint was the state of the carpets. All across the hallways, and in the middle of my room, there were the biggest most disgusting dark stains of spilled liquid on the carpets. Why they don’t replace the carpet squares, or at least steam clean them, is beyond me. It really ruined my stay to have to see such filthiness every day. On this point the hotel should have done much better!

Fantastic location in the center of everything, with entrance on a quiet pedestrian street. We loved exploring the hills and neighborhoods of Nagasaki, as well as friendly restaurants, bars, and cafes. King Room was new, spacious and loved large built in window seat/couch and streaming on large TV. Easy check in. We didn’t use Sky Spa or take breakfast so can’t comment on those. Good WiFi. We had nice view on 11th floor, but lower floor rooms could be a bit less pleasing.

Somewhere in room to unpack bags for 3 day stay. 10 am checkout is stingy. Guest Laundry area was a bit chaotic when we checked on it, so we passed.

Wow, what a great spot. It's right in the middle of everything. Beautiful views, great staff, fun onsen on the roof deck where you can watch the city from above while in a hot tub. I wouldn't come to Nagasaki and stay anywhere else. For people with tattoos: There are signs everywhere (including on booking.com) that you can't use the onsen if you have tattoos. But actually, if you have smaller tattoos like I do (even if you have multiple), you just ask the desk and they give you these patches with incredibly strong adhesive that you put over the tattoos, and then you're good. I think they might actually give you trouble if you had a large tattoo that couldn't be covered with a patch, but the patches are basically the size of a whole upper arm.

the location is very convenient, with tons of restaurants and shops nearby. it was also easy to get to from the train station! the rooms are also very comfortable. they’re not very large but that’s pretty normal for Japanese hotels, it seems, and it’s got everything one needs. the sky spa is definitely the highlight! I booked it for the spa and it did not disappoint. If it’s busy in the evening, try going in the morning - basically a private spa:) if we come back to Nagasaki, we’ll definitely stay here again!

nothing!

The hotel was in a great location for exploring Nagasaki, right in Chinatown and really close to a tram stop. Lots of good restaurants nearby too. The room was amazing and a really great size compared to a lot of the more traditional Japanese hotel rooms we stayed in! Bed was comfortable and the room came with a lot of amenities too.

If you’ve got tattoos and want to use the spa facility, then don’t bother booking! I have a few small tattoos and they wouldn’t let me use the spa without covering them with plasters. They gave me two for free and then wanted me to pay for more if I needed them.

The location was perfect. We had a corner room on the ninth floor and it was very quiet. We also enjoyed the buffet, and we're not big on breakfast usually. The staff were wonderful. Coming from the US, we didn't know what to expect. But it all worked out. You can take the bus from the airport to Shinchi, and it's an easy walk to this hotel. The tram is close too. We enjoyed Dejima museum a lot, and recommend walking there.

The toilet seat kept the room warm and we would have turned it off if we could have. Very minor issue.

The location is excellent, Shinchi Chinatown is close to most of the tourist spots in Nagasaki and the hotel itself is only a 4 min to the tram station. The room was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The lighting and climate control systems were modern and convenient. I enjoyed the rooftop spa, which definitely sets this hotel apart from other similarly priced places.

The only thing bad I could say is that the corridor between the rooms smelled a bit musty. This did not affect the room, though, which was absolutely clean.
