Highly recommended — this is an unpretentious but quiet, clean, and comfortable place to stay. The simplicity of the rooms is a plus, the bathroom (while small) is clean and modern with a good shower. The single room is bigger and brighter than it looks in the photos, I travelled with a lot of luggage and there was space to store everything away without clutter. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good as breakfast options in the area are not great — again, it’s simple and straightforward, but it’s made freshly by the staff when you sit down, and is very reasonably priced. The area has many places to eat for lunch and dinner, and the metro station is a 2 minute walk from the ryokan.

This place is fantastic! Only 2 mins walk from Sendagi station ( subway) and 10 mins walk from Nippori ( JR line), there are two supermarkets nearby. The restaurants nearby required booking in advanced, that’s why I got sushi and bento from 7-11 across the ryokan. There’s a great place for breakfast that I go almost daily- coffee chi-zu, you can get a set for 600 Yen in weekday, great deal in the area. Also, the fish restaurant nearby is also worth going. The host is very responsive to my request, since the tatami mat is hard for me, so they gave me extra mat so I can sleep tight at night :) Definitely will come back again! Thank you!

Nothing.

Location of the hotel is good. There is a subway nearby and train station is in walking distance. There are small stores and convenient stores along the alley, and you seldom find a car drove by so good for walking. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy, and staff were very friendly. The room has all what we want. They will clean the room every 3rd day, but you can leave your garbage and get a new towel near the reception area. Floor bed is more comfortable than I expected, and toilet and bathroom is also ok.

The only thing I was not happy was the hair dryer and i have long and thick hair and when you use it for quite some time, it will show spark and you need to put the power off or put it to low volume.

This was our absolute favorite ryokan of our trip to Japan. The staff was welcoming, the facility was beautiful, and the location was perfect- less than a block from the Yanaka Ginza- exciting by day, quiet by night. There’s a washer and dryer- much needed after 10 days of travel- and they provide detergent. The proprietors were generous with coffee, tea, provisions and extra big fluffy towels, not the skimpy ones you get in most hotels. Make sure you follow their recommendations for dinner nearby. We had some delicious meals they suggested. We will definitely return.

It’s a bit of a haul from the station (about 10 minutes with some gnarly steps) but well worth the walk

Great location near Sendagi station and a walkable distance away from Nippori station. It's located in a residential area, just beside the Yanaka Ginza shopping street which has great food. It's also near the famed snake street and the Yanaka temples. There are also three convenience stores and two supermarkets right outside the ryokan. The ryokan owners are a friendly and helpful elderly couple. They provided enjoyable recommendations around the area. Western-style breakfast is served upon request and has to be made at least a day in advance. The room itself is spacious compared to other japanese business hotels as the futon doesn't take up as much space as a bed. The futon and duvet are also comfortable and provided enough warmth for a winter night. The ensuite bathroom and toilet are clean. Potable water flows from the toilet tap (guests should be aware that cloudy hot water from the tap is a result of trapped air bubbles and not contamination, thus should clear up after a few minutes). Wifi was strong and easy to use. Overall a comfortable and lovely stay! Highly recommended for anyone interested in a stay with local flavour.

A minor inconvenience but the charging port charged my devices quite slowly. The ensuite bathroom is also elevated on a step and may not be suitable for guests with mobility issues.

Stayed here for 5 nights at the end of February for some Tokyo sightseeing. The location itself is already a gem: one of the lesser known but not necessarily less interesting districts you get to discover. It's only a 10 minute walk from Nippori train station and Sendagi metro will get you anywhere in a minute. Hosts are very helpful and welcoming!

Nothing really. This is a great hotel if you're mostly wandering around in the city and need a decent place to sleep. It's a traditional ryokan so you'll be sleeping on a Japanese futon on a tatami floor, which is an experience itself.

The staff that runs and owns the place are genuinely the most friendly people you will ever meet. They help you with your questions (what’s good to eat around here, what places should I visit, etc.) The place is EXCEPTIONALLY clean. I have stayed here multiple times and it has never been anything less than spotless. And it’s very close (easy walking distance) to two train stations that will get you to the major cities you’ll want to visit.

Honestly this place exceeds my expectations every time. I have no negatives. It’s wonderful.

We really liked the area that the hotel is in very relaxing, also easy access to both JR and Subway lines. The facilities are good and beds are comfortable - nice warm quilts and cotton sheets. Very lovely mama san, who helped with an extra mattress for my sore back. She is warm and friendly thank you ☺️

I think the mattresses need an update. Perhaps new futons will mean after layering with a foam mattress you won’t feel the floor underneath.

The location was just perfect for us. Easy commute from NARITA. Nippori station and Sendagi are within walking distance. Everything you need is easy to reach. It’s a friendly, quiet neighbourhood with nice local stores, coffee shops, bakery, restaurants, izakaya… just about everything is right around the corner. Our room was big with a well designed interior, AC and fridge working well, comfortable sheets, washing machine downstairs. Friendly and helpful owner. We loved it.

We really enjoyed our stay at this Ryokan. The staff (who we think were the owners) were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious enough and quiet and the futon were very comfortable. The location is also very close to both Sendagi subway (direct line to Harajuku) and Nippori station (easy to get to Narita airport and anywhere on the Yamanote line).

The only thing about this Ryokan Ididn't like was the shampoo and body wash. There was no conditioner available and the shampoo was low quality and not very good with someone with long hair (it didn't bother my partner). I would suggest just buying your own from the pharmacy or Lawson that are only a couple of minutes walk away.
