Ueno First City Hotel

The staff was exceptionally nice and it was great to have a coin laundry machine, as well as a vending machine in the basement. You can see the room is old, but it's very neat and clean. We were provided with all the necessary sanitary products and even more than necessary. The restroom was modern and well working. Very convenient location regarding public transportation, including train connection with the airport (10 minute walk) and 2 metro stations (2 minutes to Yushima, 5 minutes to Ueno Hirokoji). If you want to have some fun time, there's a lot of karaoke around and it's just a short walk from Akihabara.

The booking details stated the size of the room, but we were still surprised by how small it turned out to be. Once we put our luggage inside we struggled to move around. Maybe it would be sufficient for people who are on short business stays, but because we purchased a lot of souvenirs, it was a big inconvenience.

We liked the location as it is near local train stations and Ueno district. The train to/from the airport goes to Ueno. It is also near food areas and convenience stores. There is a Family Mart 2min walk away. It was walking distance to Akihabara.

The futon setup takes a little getting used to. But the space it offers makes up for the minor discomfort. The room (Rm 125) we stayed in also had draft coming in from the windows, likely needing additional insulation. And because it is winter, it can be felt in the room.

I like that our room was big. The bathroom was also huge and it has complete amenities. We are only 3, but I think the room can fit 3 more people.

Since it was our first time in Japan and coming from a tropical country, an 8°C temperature is already chilling. We expected that the room has a heater but we don't know how to operate it. We thought that they have a centralized system so we did not dare to ask. We were not able to sleep properly on our first night because of the cold room. I hope next time they will guide their guests on how to adjust the room's temperature.

Hotel provided everything that we could've needed in a room. The location was perfect for our group. Overall, had a good experience.

Only one coin laundry/dryer so if other people are using it within the hotel or your group, it will take a while for everyone to finish. Restrooms had a weird odor where we had to ventilate it the whole time.

The room was smaller but clean, (except under the bed which were plenty of dust). The bathroom was kept clean. The hotel is walking distance to Ueno Park and the train stations ( Skyliner and JR Station ). The staffs are friendly and helfpful.

I took a look under the bed in our room, there were plenty of dust and tissue papers. as I look to the dust under the bed, I think it was more than a month that the housekeeping did not clean it.

the family room for 4 with futons are spacious! There are 3 separated rooms for sink, toilet and bathrub with shower which are super convenient for 4 people to take turns in each room. Staff are friendly. Just a 5 minutes walk to JR Okachimachi station which is convenient if you use JR Tokyo Wide Pass.

The location is great, close to train stations, easy walking to Ueno park, Todai, Ameyogo Market, and 10 mins walk to Akihabara. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room is incredible and very clean. it has everything you need, also complimentart bath salt and other bath care stuff. But what I like the most is the bathtub which I could enjoy myself after walking all day. This stay really was worth the price I paid really.

close to train stations, option to have the room clean everyday, got shared microwave on the same room floor, price is really good!

middle age lady staffs during our check-in were a bit cold to us (compared to other hotels we've been in Japan) but I only saw them once, maybe it was a bad day.

Location is good. 2 min from Yushima station (Tokyo Metro), 8-10 min from Okachimachi (JR). Room was spacious. There was window but facing against the back wall of another building. Very clean. Can't rate the cafe/breakfast because it was closed during our stay.

I recommend this hotel.. It's very clean, nice to stay, staffs are very accomodating, clean rest room with complete amenities, a very excellent hotel. The location is very peaceful and the surroundings are clean. 101% perfect
