The location is exceptional. Various metro lines nearby. Ueno is a fun area to explore and lots to do nearby. If I come back to Tokyo I will stay in this area. Small rooms but that is normal for Tokyo budget hotel. No noise whatsoever, neither from neighbours or the street. We slept soundly. Fresh towels and amenities delivered everyday, however to a point where it’s a bit excessive - during our stay (2pax x 9nights) we were delivered 36 towels and 18 dressing gowns. (?!?!) The hotel let us keep luggage for a time after checkout so we could have breakfast.
Old, thick carpet in the room smelt bad and held a lot of dust and debris. There were lots of tiny flies in the room especially on the bed linen. They were NOT bed bugs, but something else. They were winged and did not bite. Luckily my partner and I aren’t too squeamish so was not enough to complain. We noticed them especially on the first day, and thereafter when the linens got replaced.

This was a comfortable facility to stay in other than some issues I already knew about. The bathroom and room was very compact but I was expecting that. Good AC, good lighting, a fridge for keeping konbini drinks or snacks.
The single pillow provided was quite thin. I would not have been able to sleep with just that. Although I did not ask staff about changing it in some way, I did use one of my travel bags stuffed with clothes as a makeshift second pillow. This is good enough for me, but maybe not for others. I was also unsure what to do with the bags of amenaties provided daily. I needed and used the towels but the rest of the items piled up in my room and were not always removed during the 3-day mandatory cleaning.

Location is excellent for those for those looking to do much around Akihabara like me. Close to multiple train stations including Akihabara station. The staff is very friendly and helpful, one of them was even kind enough to call the Pepper Parlor cafe to book me a table.
The only down side about this hotel to me was the breakfast, it wasn't clear what kind of breakfast it was, so we included it thinking it were a buffet, but it is only 2 options of breakfast, American and Japanese. American is only 2 pancakes, 3 mini sausages and a bit of scrambled eggs. Not worth the price in my opinion.

The location of the hotel is great, as it is within walking distance to many places of interest around Ueno and Akihabara, including the local markets, eateries, convenience stores, train stations, etc. The rooms were clean and comfy. Staff were helpful.
Rooms can be rather cramped, especially if you're travelling with larger suitcases. They also switch off the air-conditioning during certain hours, which is normal in most hotels in Japan. Unfortunately, in our room, it caused condensation and water was dripping from the aircon unit causing the bed to be soaking wet while we slept. Woke up in the middle of the night wondering why the bed was wet.

I had paid extra for breakfast, and it was great. They had scramble and pancakes with Maple syrup. I prefer to start the day off with a good breakfast before immersing into the city sights and the miles of walking. The location is walking distance from Akihabara and Don Quiote. They gave us the top floor which was fantastic. Can't beat the location. Front desk spoke good English and were quite helpful.
Room was small but was to be expected. The toilet sets were not warm, we got spoiled after staying at other hotels where all had bidets with warm seats.

The room had all the necessary amenities and a double bed, which for one person is great but might be small for two. The staff were very accompanying and helpful as well. Location is good if you know how to navigate Tokyo, as this is not the central part of Tokyo so you need to take the underground if you want to go to Shinjuku or Shibuya. I personally chose this area because it's not as loud and crowded.
Like most hotels in Tokyo, the size of the room was really small and I wish they could have had some shelves where to put things (ended up having to store things in the luggage). For one person, staying for a week, that kind of narrow, small room is okay but it does get to you after a while that you're not able to open your luggage because there's not enough space for that.

Location is perfect for visiting turistic places. Staff was very kind and accomodating. It's very comfortable and a great option for one person. They also have a (very tasty) gluten-free restaurant in the first floor of the hotel, maybe a good thing to know for some people!
The rooms are small, although they justify it by saying it's for energy-saving reasons (and this is coherent with other measures they take as a hotel, so good). Not the cleanest, found hairs in the bathtub and bed and a lightbulb didn't work. Had to switch rooms because the AC broke in the first one, but staff was great about it.

The APA Ueno Hirokoji is a quite nice location in the center of Tokyo: the Ueno Park, several museums and the Akihabara quarter are in a walking distance. There are also a plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. There are more subway stations nearby. The staff is nice, but the rooms are very tiny, like living in a camper. But if you want to sleep in a central place when you discover the city or make business appointments in Tokyo all day.
Breakfast is disappointing. There are two types of breakfast (Pho-soup and American pancakes), both are overpriced and poor quality. Orange juice is diluted with water and sometimes there are no choice after 9 o'clock because they run out of something. Waste of money. You'd better to go out to a nearby bakery or coffee.

Great hotel with very good location! So many public transportation surrounding. A lots of free cream/lotion/spa powder at the counter bar to pickup. Free ice cube from 1st floor machine. Staffs are very nice that we can ask everything Security is good. A walking distance to Ameyoko market in the morning & night The hotel is settled in between Ueno-hirogochi station and Suehirocho station, we can also walk from Ueno station (~1km.)
Very flat & hard pillows No laundry machine Not enough space for large luggage Have only 2 bottles of water on the first arrival, cannot ask for more on the other days.

We loved the location of the hotel and we loved the staff! It was super easy to find walking from Keisei Skyliner and has so many places to eat and convenience stores right nearby. It was also so close to Ameyoko market street which was fun wandering thru and had the best little takoyaki stand along so many other food options. The staff was super welcoming and the room, despite being small was very well planned out and there was storage under the bed for our suitcases. We travel light so we did not find luggage storage difficult . The bathroom was also small but well organized and the room was very clean overall. We would highly recommend this hotel and would choose it again.
The only thing was the step up into the bathroom. My daughter has mobility challenges and found the height of the step in to the bathroom higher than most. Despite that we really liked the room and the hotel.
