Grand Sapphire Hotel

I stayed in Room 4011? (4th floor, first room on the right). It has a city view (mainly the road and a view of the mountains on the horizon). Room is clean but a little small, but comfortable and homey. It has a restaurant on the ground floor named Azia Mama.

The staff in the restaurant where they serve their breakfast is not very accomodating. She actually frowned when she saw us coming, perhaps we are not speaking Russian or Kazakh? But regardless, you don’t need to frown when you see guests coming in. She didn’t even greet us or at least ask us for a coffee. We didn’t go on the next day and just opted breakfast in a nearby coffee shop. The selection of food is very few.

The location of the hotel was beautiful. Walkable distance to the 28 Panpilov Park & Zenkhov Cathedral. There are nice restaurants on same road as well as supermarkets. There was a Currency exchange kiosk just around the corner. Nearby to Green Bazaar, Panpilov Street, Arbat Shopping Street, Zhibek Zholy Street, Kok-Tobe Cable Car Station. The breakfast was also okay, although they are quite strict about closing time.

The bathroom was extremely small. It felt like a bathroom in a train. The WC and the washbasin were adjacent to each other and there was no space to stand for shaving/ brushing. The shower area was raised at least a feet above the bathroom floor (if not more) and the shower glass door was too narrow. I am 84 kg & 5' 11" and I had to squeeze in sideways. I checked the photos later and it seemed that the Comfort Double rooms had a better sized bathroom. The family room, they have compromised on the bathroom size to add that additional space/bed.

I am a vegetarian. I liked that they kept a lot of non veg options in the breakfast. Room service is available upon request. Easy access to places we visited in the city. Restaurants at walkable distance.

The staffs who did our check in and check out tried to take extra money in the name of tax when the amount we paid had the taxes in it. They said we have to pay additional tax when we are in Kazakh. Even though we showed the money we paid in booking.com had mentioned the taxes, they insisted we pay. Look out for that. During the room service, they didn't change any of the sheets just the refill of the toiletries was done.

Good location to easily approach the nearby famous places, Very kind services and cooperations of the staff, Very comfortable and large rooms.

I thought that the X-Mas day was holiday since it is a national holiday in our country, Korea so I was inadvertently late for breakfast on the day(25th Dec, 2023). Then, the restaurant staff showed me her angry feature, and I was so so so embarrassed and uncomfortable. I hope that the restaurant staff's service will be improved.

The breakfast buffet was not huge on selection, but each morning each of us (4) were able to find something that we liked and didn't leave hungry. The hotel is not overly fancy, but the people at the front desk were helpful always and although our room seemed a little dated, it was still nice and functioning properly. The location was great in my opinion. We were never that far from where we wanted to go. Lots of cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance. We had a two level family suite and it had plenty of room for the 4 of us. The upper floor was a lot of glass with great views, but with the glass the air conditioning had a hard time keeping the room cool in the middle of the day. This meant that the temp upstairs was about 29 C during mid-day, although outside it was 36 C. The good point is that people typically are not hanging out in their room in the middle of the day. The downstairs temp was whatever you set it for, in other words, no problem. I think that the value we received was absolutely great for the money we paid and we would stay there again.

Unfortunately, although there was tea to drink, there was not coffee at the breakfast buffet. Also in our room although there were teas and sugar, there was never coffee. If you are a coffee drinker, either bring your own or stay elsewhere. We stayed for a week and although we indicated on our door that we wished our room cleaned, two different days it was not cleaned. When we called the desk supplies anyhow were brought up to us.

The place is tidy, cozy, and well-organized. The staff is genial and the breakfast is wholesome and simple. The property is well-maintained. This place is centrally located to many destinations you would want to visit.

The bread and pastry were cold at breakfast. To maintain their temperature, the bread should be kept fresh and covered with napkins.

Great options available- scrambled eggs, bacon, porridge, fruits, juice and coffee - all the standard and good quality. Two times we needed breakfast earlier than it is offered, i e. before 8am. Reception arranged for us to prepare a sandwich, a bottle of botter, fruit and yogurt a night before.

Some lights were broken or not working in the room, but nothing too dramatic

Location. Reception staff very helpful. Value for money.

Breakfast is supposed to start at 8am on a Saturday. I had to leave the hotel by 08.30 but was told at 8am that it was not ready and to wait 15-20 mins. Normally this isnt a problem but because I had a schedule to keep this was Inconvenient. It should be ready and available when and as stated.

Greatest location, a lot of cafes and restaurants near, the very center just in 500m, parks. Not far from the biggest shopping mall in the city. Very polite and attentive reception. Clean rooms, although small.

Same bad breakfasts, hateful omelette, sleepy staff in the cafe in the morning, not very fast Wi-Fi internet.

The Grand Sapphire itself is very nice and comfortable hotel. Staff, who work in this hotel is very friendly and helpful. However, the poor impression I still have because of their partner Asia Mama Restaurant. The restaurant provides poor service during the breakfast. Twice they were late by 50 minutes. Also, after 11:00 pm we could hear loud music and visitors from outdoor space. It is not acceptable. If Asia Mama manages to improve its quality, then Grand Sapphire hotel will have outstanding feedback by their clients.
