+ hotel and room in a very modern and classy style + free beverage on the arrival in fridge, free tea and coffee +all amenities in the room (robes, slippers, hairdryer,adapter) +friendly and professional staff

- a shower in the room is a nice idea but after using it the bedroom was full of steam, also there was nowhere to hand towels (only one hanger in the toilet) -in case of bad weather breakfast was served in room however in room there was only one chair and pretty small desk, it wasn't so comfortable to eat by it

Nice room, modern look, very good breakfast (not much food, but good), easy to access, great location. The bathroom & dressing were hidden and the room looked great. 2 balconies included.

The widows from the room balcony were wobbling because of the wind and they created lots of noise. Couldn't sleep at all, we needed to make some sort of secure grip with an elastic. Also, the bathroom balcony door wasn't air tight so we had to cover the gap under the door. No heating in the bathroom + air coming in from outside = not so great

The location was faultless, bang in the middle of where it all happens, staff attentive, courteous and helpful. Hotel is spotless. Room was just right, comfy bed and gorgeous shower. Breakfast choice was better than what we anticipated and the evening free drinks and nibbles on the terrace was a lovely touch.

I suppose this only applies to those rooms which face out into the eating complex opposite, but the bathroom windows could do with having privacy blinds as when using it with the light on, those opposite having a drink get a free show ;)!

Clean , friendly , modern stylish , great location in centre with all bars and restaurants , indoor food market with great choice of tasty dishes across road ,interesting Maltese buffet style breakfast and a free little buffet including beer and soft drinks at 5.30 on lovely roof terrace . 10-15 mins walk to bus terminus . 10 mins to St Elmos bay where could swim in sea .

The hotel is nicely located in the heart of beautiful Valletta. Clean, completely renovated, comfortable, with lovely breakfast on the roof. The self check in is super easy. The breakfast staff were stellar, so kind! We hope to return next year!

HPM was right in the centre of Valletta where all the bars and restaurants are. Our room had a small balcony and looked out onto the street. Opposite is the Is-suqtal-belt food market, great place to eat. The room was small but comfortable not much storage if you travel with lots of luggage. Good size bathroom with great shower. Toiletries, iron & board and slippers were a nice touch if needed also other nice little touches. We found the breakfast great it had everything we needed. Enjoyed our stay.

Our room looked out onto a busy street, it wasn’t over noisy and we slept fine until the bar a couple of meters down the road had live bands on Fri, Sat & Sun it was as though the music was in the room with us, so loud, but saying that they stopped playing at 11pm. If it’s raining breakfast is in your room we found this not enjoyable.

excellent location - in centre of town and close to cafes, restaurants etc. clean helpful staff nice little extra touches like treats left in your room each day , complimentary drinks in fridge, complimentary drinks and nibbles each evening. Lovely view from roof terrace for breakfast and drinks and nibbles later ( 5.30 - 7.30pm)

the layout of our room. I disliked the heavy glass ( though opaque) door on the toilet - hard to close , lacks privacy and lights up room if you pay a nocturnal visit , and also prefer not to have shower cubicle in bedroom area. Although I did know when booking , I did miss an external window. service area for breakfast cramped and hard to get to food at times when busy . would return if had a different room / layout

Everything was great. All the staff, from the receptionists to the dining area attendants were very kind and helpful and made me feel very welcome at all times, especially Natasha and her husband. The room was modern, spacious, and clean. On the first day/evening, the staff attending the breakfast or evening snack described what each item, which was a traditional Maltese, was. This was a great opportunity to sample a wide variety of the local food and drink which I wouldn't have had a chance to try otherwise.

It would be good to have somewhere to hang towels as we're encouraged to hand them up if we want to reuse them but there is no hook near the shower. I was worried that I would arrive after hours (7pm) but they give you all the instructions on how to check-in in advance and let yourself in in case you arrive late. I arrived before then but it turns out it's all very straightforward and wouldn't have been a problem at all.

The unusual, 5th-floor open-air location (weather permitting, otherwise floor-by-floor service) for breakfast and the excellent selection provided - especially the drinks - was most pleasing; the 17:30 - 19:30 complementary 'Happy 2-Hours' (drinks & snacks) was also an enjoyable novelty. The staff/management - especially Natasha and her husband (sorry, cannot recall his name) - were highly informative as regards 'where to go & what to see' and went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible in many contexts; the reception and room staff also did a grand job, with our room being serviced brilliantly every day & left spotless in every regard.

Couldn't have picked a better hotel to stay at in Valletta. Perfect location and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Having breakfast on the rooftop terrace overlooking the city was perfect and the breakfast was amazing. Plenty of choices, especially some Maltese dishes that were out of this world. I had mentioned that I really was particularly fond of the lemon cookies at breakfast. As I was leaving, I was given a bag of them to bring home. That was so awesome. The room at the hotel was spacious and beautifully decorated and the bathroom was clean with a large shower and plenty of hot water. Every afternoon, a staff member would bring a few delicious biscuits or cake to the room for a snack. If no one was there, they would leave them in the room for when I returned. And in the evening, it was nice to sit up on the rooftop and have a beverage and some hors d'oeuvres and watch the sun set. Hopefully next time I visit Malta, my wife will be able to make it and we will definitely be staying at Pjazza Mercanti.
