Let’s first start with the staff ….. wow! 100% spot on, accurate and super friendly🙏🏻 Tom, the congierge (we think) was the star of our stay. So so sooo helpful and friendly. And also all other staff was always there to help. With a beautiful dinner in the Under Grain Restaurant (in the house), drinks on the roof top and street terras, high service room service ans housekeeping, we can say that we had the full experience of the hotel. We can totally recommend.

Only minus was the sofa in the room that was full of stains. We asked to cover it with a plaid, and it was out of sight, which was a good solution. Although we would suggest to change the sofa, a more practical one where stains are not so obvious and/or are more easy to clean.

Rooms a little small as I travelled with my adult daughter so had twin beds. This made for a small gap between bed and wall when passing for the bathroom but did not detract from the experience. There was a cockroach in the shower which staff removed. No shaving points in the bathroom is unusual in this type of hotel. I felt it strange that on arrival the receptionist tried to book us into AX StJohn rather than AX Rosselli. Maybe they needed to fill that as it was down the road. It was also strange to be asked for full payment at check in rather than check out as we had booked via booking.com who had our card authorisation anyway. It wasn’t explained.

The staff was incredibly friendly—everyone was extremely kind and always willing to help. A solid 10/10 in terms of service.

The only issue that should be addressed is the noise from a nearby bar, which plays very loud music. Unfortunately, the hotel's windows are not soundproof, so we experienced significant noise disturbances throughout our three-night stay, even on Sunday night when we needed to rest before our early morning flight. The music and conversations from the bar were clearly audible in our room.

The hotel is incredibly well located and we felt right in the thick of things. There are a number of nearby bars with happy hours,, but the rooms never felt noisy and it was great having nightlife on our doorstep. The hotel has a wonderful roof terrace with a small but pleasant swimming pool. There are a couple of food options on site, and the quality was excellent, even if slightly dearer than other nearby options. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and I would gladly book here again.

No complaints at all, but the quality does come at a price.

Service was impeccable, staff always had a positive attitude and response

Each room I learned is an individual design my first day I had a large room,, but the mirrors were in an odd location. My second stay five days later was only for one night. I was in a small room, no convenient place to put on make up, and the outside noises coming from side seating areas of restaurants on a Monday was quite alarming. I did call down and asked was there anything they could do? not much, but the gentleman on duty did make a call. Attempt. There must’ve been several other complaints from other hotels and this hotel because about half an hour later the musicthe music did stop.

Extremely comfortable room as was the bed. Breakfast was very good and with a wide choice. All the Staff from the Reception team to the Restaurant team and also the Room Maintenance team were excellent. All were friendly, enthusiastic and extremely helpful - they could not be faulted. The hotel is very centrally located so nothing is too far away.

The lighting in the rooms as a little too subdued and could have been better.

Location in Valetta was great. Breakfast was lovely. Did not have dinner here as there are many good restaurants nearby that we tried. Given an upgraded room but we changed from it as there was little or no storage for clothes and we do unpack - even for a few days! Staff sorted us out without any issue.

Photo of 'swimming' pool is deceiving - it's a plunge pool. We didn't get to use it but I'm sure it's nice on a very warm day.

location and cleanliness

the unprofessional Ian of the Night Shift reception employee who made an unforgivable mistake about our bill, since I was responsible of a delegation from the UN. and we discovered after we paid our bill, the next morning before our departure that he made another mistake and asked us for more money, despite that telling him many many times about mistakes in the amount, but he assured us NO!, plus frankly speaking and for quality and good hospitality matters, the Filipina deputy manager didn’t assume the mistake which they have to hold, she said only sorry, and I felt I have to “clean” their dirty mistake. it was unprofessional

Staff are wonderful, especially breakfast team under Paul's supervision. Reception staff also couldn't have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Location excellent, right in the middle of Valletta and handy for buses and boats out of town, as well as many restaurants and strolls around the harbour walls.

Pool very disappointing as it's tiny, not big enough to swim in and no space to sit around it; sunloungers are in another area. It's basically just a large bath! Probably OK for a quick dunk on a hot day. No more than 4 people allowed in it at once. We'd picked this hotel as we wanted a pool.

Its location in the heart of old Valletta, the fact it had a pool to cool down in, the roof top bar, the staff, the breakfast, level of service. All made for a wonderful stay.

Nothing I can think of apart from the shower which was a bit temperamental, and not very powerful but am guessing it is due to being in very old part of town maybe and age of sewers etc
