The property itself is gorgeous. The photos are great, but in person, it's really beautiful. It's very antique, rustic, and charming- like something you'd see in a storybook but with modern amenities. I was very pleased with the hot shower and heater in the room. The staff was so helpful with offering recommendations and helping me organize a shuttle at the end of my stay. They served me the best coffee and the most colorful fruit bowls in the mornings, which I enjoyed on the patio in the crisp mountain air. The location was perfect- I walked everywhere except when I went on tours outside of the city. Even then, the shuttles meet in central locations, so it was easy to walk there. I will definitely be back.

Was ill the evening I arrived and told the person at check in. He took me right to my room and asked if I needed anything. I asked for more water than the ones already provided and he brought me 3 more and an extra towel. I didn't feel like getting out the next morning so I called the hotel # and asked for 3 scrambled eggs plain and a couple more waters. 10 minutes later they were at my door exactly as ordered plus a hot tea I didn't think I wanted but found advantageous. A couple hours later I felt well enough to get dressed and find a pharmacy for electrolyte drinks and medicine. I asked the manager and he said it was close but he'd get me a cab. I surmise if I'd asked him to pick it for me he would have accommodated me. Felt well enough to take my 3pm scheduled tour and had an enjoyable afternoon touring the city. Only stayed 2 nights and wished I'd had the flexibility to extend my stay. I highly recommend this hotel for your stay in San Cristobal.

I experienced no deficiency in accomodations, staff, or service.

Thia has been te most wonderful location during our four week trip through Mexico. Perfect central location. Beautiful building with lots of attention to detail. And insanely friendly staff who was always very welcome to help. Family room with a little attic for the kids. Basic mexican breakfast, but something for everyone.

Hotel can’t do anything about it - but we had a church celebration that involved fireworks every morning from 6 am to 7 am (no kidding). Also its in the middle of town so bring some earplugs if you’re sensitive to streetnoise in the morning.

This hotel has an old-world charm. It is full of antiques like old record players, radios, etc. You feel like you've stepped into another era. My husband and I went to San Cristobal for a long weekend and we chose Casa de Ghandi for their great reviews. The feel of the place is like being in a cozy cabin. We used the old radio and even found a good jazz station. The beds are super comfortable and the staff is lovely. It's owned by a nice family, and the property has only 4 rooms, so there is very little noise. Great stay!

Such a beautiful place. You can tell that there’s a lot of love into making this place. It’s almost like a little museum with so many nice details. Mario and his family are the kindest people you can imagine, they even served an alcoholic drink at breakfast which really helped to start the day strong. Much love to this amazing place!

The whole city is quite noisy so be aware of that. But just bring some earplugs and you’re good to go. This place is totally worth it!

We absolutely loved this hotel, probably the best during our holiday. Very beautiful and old, with a vintage vibe, and a very friendly family that runs it. Our room was beautiful and spacious enough, and the bed was comfortable. Shower was excellent. The hotel is located in the centre (but not in the main touristy part) and close to many different lovely restaurants. Has its own private parking space.

This is really looking for details but it might be handy to have a shelf in the bathroom to put your products on

Absolutely lovely place, great price value and they have a private parking behind the gate. The establishment itself is very authentic and clean, they play calming music in the amazing patio which add too the relaxing vibe while being in the middle of the charming city. The staff (which is a family) really gives the place a soul, they are super friendly and helpful, come and have a genuine conversation with you and tell you about local customs and hotspots. The staff gives the place a soul!

Nothing it was perfect

In all my years traveling I have never encountered as good a service as we got at Hotel Casa de Gandhi. An example could be, that we told them about our perfume allergies in the last minute and they responded and executed and adjusted to it immediately. Another example is that one of us was food poisoned from a local restaurant and again they were a big help. All of the standard things like cleaning and bed standards were in the absolute top and it was the most charming of places. We can’t recommend this place enough.

There’s not one things to dislike about this place.

This place is fantastic!!! We arrived with the night bus in San Cristobal and were at the hotel already at 9 am. We asked if it was possible to check in early (because we felt dirty from the bus). Our room was not yet available so we got a free upgrade to a bigger room! And we were met with fresh coffee, sweets and Pox (the local alcohol). The room was exquisite, super clean and quiet. There was even heating (it gets quite cold in SC at night). We did not need it but it was very nice. Also, the staff helped us with ordering a taxi at 6 am even though I think that was outside of office hours. To sum up: best place I ever stayed at, friendliest staff EVER.

one small tip for the hotel: we accidentally locked ourselves out of the bathroom at night, perhaps keep a key to the bathroom in the hotel room?

This place was wonderful in every way. As a family-run business, everyone has an interest in making the guests feel welcome and it showed. It was terrific. So much attention to detail that created such a wonderful atmosphere and very comfortable experience. Breakfast was excellent. No complaints whatsoever.
