The property is in the historic centre and a short walk to many restaurants and tourist sights. It’s also very close to various bus and train lines. It has its own restaurant where we ate one night. Breakfast starts quite late (8:30am) but the staff where kind enough to provide us with some at 8am as we had to leave early. The staff were also kind enough to tell us where we could buy tours to Teotihuacán in Zócalo Square as the hostel does not run tours on their own. We were allowed to leave our storage for no extra charge.

Not a great location if you want quiet! It was very loud so do bring your ear plugs! Also, it could do with some cleaning.. and a bit more lighting in the rooms. We had a cockroach dying on our shower floor. 😅

The Staff were amazing. They have great recommendations and are super helpful. The location is perfect. It can be loud during the day and then gets quiet at night. Great torterías around the area and even across the street

The wifi was not good, which will be a challenge if you plan to work from here. Breakfast was not the best. Can be difficult to get a taxi anywhere in the center, including to the hostel sometimes

i paid for a private room which was big with good wifi, nice bathroom, bug comfy bed- its a bit noisy outside but i found putting the big ceiling fan on drowned that out! Free breakfast and coffee is always welcome and free water to refill your bottle. Staff were really helpful all the time and spoke great English so very handy for me! Great location, loved the roof bar and free drinks, liked the restaurant/ bar downstairs...just loved the place!

small fridge in private room maybe? just an idea, not a big issue more promotion downstairs of walks or tours you can go on as i stay in hostels partly to meet people so doing group trips out would really appeal to me

Big rooms, good and clean facilities. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location in downtown

The wifi was not really good, especially in our room. You do have a public space where you can work

Hostel regina was a wonderful place to begin my travels. I was in a female only dorm and was surprised and delighted to find that each bed was partitioned by a wall giving a huge amount of privacy and for an excellent price. The free breakfast was always lovely with a large selection of fruits and a special each day of something like omelette, tacos or pancakes. The staff were all lovely and very helpful and the bathrooms and rooms were all kept incredibly clean. Amazing hot showers with pressure better than my shower at home! I met lots of people at the hostel, facilitated by the free food that the hostel offers in the evening and the gorgeous roof terrace. While people complain on here about the noise at weekends it was never a problem for me as they close the bar at 12 and everyone is off the terrace by 1.

The WiFi was slightly problematic but I was so happy there I didn’t really need it. The only other thing to note is that at weekends the roof terrace is open to the general public making it quite hard to meet other travelers as it’s so busy. However, if you wait it out I think it would be virtually impossible not to meet people after a bit of time.

Wonderful, helpful, smiling and extremely polite staff. Really enjoyed the breakfast - pancakes or quesadillas were delicious. Great interior common spacd decoration. Room with private bathroom although simple was all we needed.

More hangers in thr room needed. MmThere needs to be clear curfew policy for noise - sometimes the bar stopped playing music at 10:30pm and the other day at 11:30pm. Also late check ins and drunk guests at night were super loud on the staircase. So I know it’s a hostel with a chill vibe but some clear message about the hour to remain silence would be aooreciated.

Perfect location, right above the street with no cars and many restaurants, right in the heart of the historic downtown. Cereal, fruits and small local snack for breakfast. Roof bar is a good place to meet fellow travelers. 3 times a week hostel offers free dinner and beer in the evening. Huge private room, clean shared bathroom

Very loud music from the streets on the weekends.

This hostel is gorgeous and immaculately clean. I love the murals and the festive decorations. The room I had (female 4-person dorm) is the biggest of any hostel I've stayed in, and all single beds - no bunks- with windows letting in fresh air (super important to me and not found in a lot of hostels!) plus a little fan for each bed. Breakfast was small but good, and it's great to have the cafe onsite too. Nice water pressure in the showers, which is not something you can always find in Mexico. It's located on a pedestrian street with a lot of loud bars, so it's loud in the evenings (both from street noise and the hostel's own rooftop bar) but I was pleasantly surprised that it quieted down around 10 on weeknights and midnight on weekends, which was fine for me.

I can't think of anything I really didn't like - I mean I would've been fine without the party atmosphere and the noisy bar, but like I said that didn't really bother me.

the stuff at this place just one of the best I have ever experienced in the hostels!!! they are so warmly friendly and helpful!!! separate shout out to their laundry team! they folded so nicely every clothes i had, it touched my heart, really:D they have nice restaurant at the first floor, which is super convenient. sheared bathrooms also were well organised and clean. I did really enjoy my stay there, highly recommend!

Regina street is very busy itself, and extremely loud!! it's impossible to sleep before midnight, and than around 8 am local restaurants and bars start their music again. So if you are looking for a quiet place that's not about this hostel. But other than that, it was great!!! also the fan in the room was super loud, definitely not for overnight using. but it wasn't problem for me as i stayed in the end of October and didn't need it at all .

Hostal Regina had a really great feel and atmosphere about it from the moment we arrived. The place is decorated so cool, it really got us excited for Dia de los Muertos. We booked here because of how close it was to the Zocalo where the Dia de los Muertos parade was going to be, it's right in Centro and I think perfect location if that's the area you want to stay. The staff were super friendly, the breakfasts & coffee were 10/10 too. We didn't try any other food other than the included breakfasts but the pizza's looked great, we seen a lot of people ordering and eating these. The bedroom and bathrooms were very clean. Our bedroom had a balcony which had a nice little view of the street from it. The rooftop area was also a great space.

I assumed because it was Dia de los Muertos and we were in a prime location in a great hostel, we would have met lots of other travellers, particularly because of the rooftop space and the description of the hostel on booking.com, but we didn't actually meet a single other traveller whilst here. The downstairs restaurant area is open to the public so at all times its hard to establish who are hostel guests and who are public guests. We also spent some time on the rooftop each night, particularly on Dia de los Muertos when the hostel were giving out free Margarita's but we were the only two there (from 8-9pm). I appreciate this has nothing to do with the service Hostal Regina provide and probably more based on luck of who happens to be there at the time.
