The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful!

The music from the hotel bar was too loud and could be heard in our room. The music was on from 08 am - 10:30 pm and made it difficult to relax in the room during the stay. Our room was only cleaned once during our 4 nights stay which is not really acceptable taking the price into consideration. There is sand everywhere in Puerto Escondido - and also in the room after a day without cleaning. we were also surprised to realize that there was a gap between the roof and the walls which allowed mosquitos and other insects to enter the room and gave the AC an hard time keeping the room at the desired temperature.

Well, this has to be one of the best places we’ve ever stayed. I say ‘place’ and not hotel, because really, it feels more like you’ve come to stay at your (very) cool friends house. Raiz had only just opened as we arrived. It popped up on booking.com the day before and we booked it nervously because, well the photos looked amazing but it had no reviews. Best decision we made this trip. This project has been a labour of love for the young team and you can feel every ounce of love and thought they have poured into it. When you stay, ask them the beautiful story of why it’s called Raiz (Roots). You can see from the photos how beautiful the space is, the rooms, the bar, the pool area, every tiny aesthetic thought about. What you can’t see is the atmosphere they have created. Filled to the brim with thoughtfulness and care everybody connecting and enjoying the space together. Helped along generously by the superb bar and the delicious concoctions that flow out of it. I can highly recommend the Brebaje, a mezcal cocktail with Oaxacan mint that is good for digestion, it’s basically medicine. In fact everything here, the food and the drink is all steeped in Oaxacan tradition. Whilst we were there the restaurant was yet to open in the evening (this was happening at the end of Jan). However, as we were on our honeymoon they treated us to a sneak peak at what they would be offering and organised us a candlelit 5 course tasting menu on the roof. WOW. We knew it would be good because the brunch and lunch menu was so delicious but WOW. Once they open for food this place will be buzzing. The extra level of care is what this team have got down to a ‘T’ the service is magnificent. They really couldn’t do more for you and it is why we doubled the length of our stay and are already planning on when we will go back. Thank you guys for the most memorable stay x

I cannot say enough positive about our entire experience. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. The entire property is beautiful with comfortable beds and bedding and a peaceful setting with strong WiFi. The team is over the top wonderful! You can feel their care in everything they do. We were able to enjoy a special price fix dinner which was AMAZING! Breakfasts were also FABULOUS! What a chef! This may be one of our most positive accommodation experiences ever. Stay here…you will be happy you did! Buen Viajes!

There are not enough rooms! 🤣😂. We wanted to extend our stay but for now there are only 10 rooms which seem to be always booked!

The staff were so friendly and really went the extra mile for us during our stay (one of the staff made a tea for my friend to help settle her stomach and gave us a lift to the beach as well as sharing lots of recommendations for our stay!). The room was lovely and big and the bed was fantastic. Amazing welcome cocktail and great area to chill out by the pool!

Very minor few points (didn’t impact the quality of our stay). The bathroom could use a bath mat and it would be nice to have a full length mirror in the room. There were a few times in the morning when we waiting quite a while (30 mins or so) to get a coffee

Wow, what a beautiful place. We booked this by chance and it has been our favourite and most special place we have stayed in Mexico. The team were so warm, welcoming and attentive, helping us with whatever we need. The space and design is amazing, the room was quiet and peaceful and the bed was SO comfortable. The cocktails were incredible, and the overall vibe was just perfect. They’ve managed to create the perfect balance of a boutique hotel with the friendly and chill vibes of a hostel. Perfect location too, so close to the beach and to la punta restaurants and bars. We cannot wait to come back! Thank you!

We wanted to stay longer!

Location was superb. It wasn’t far from the beach but still felt like it was its own oasis because it wasn’t on the main road. Coming back each evening felt glorious because it was quiet and peaceful and I was able to take a dip in their beautiful pool every evening. The space is big enough whereby you feel like you can have your own private space but it’s still intimate. The staff were kind enough to upgrade our rooms because we flew in earlier than expected and the welcome drink was DIVINE. In fact everything on their menu was delicious. The morning yoga on their roof was also fantastic. What was great to see where the small touches ie charging ports by each table downstairs which means they clearly understand the demographics of their customers whereby many of them are working remotely. And the amount of space in each room is just right. Aesthetics of this place was just fantastic and the staff were all incredibly helpful. I’d come back in a heartbeat.

The rooms could do with a little more sweeping or at least a mat at the entrance so that we can dust off any sand from downstairs. It would also be useful for the staff to run through all of the facilities that we’d get access to ie yoga, what time the kitchen + pool is open, that we’re able to charge our meals to our account + a reminder about our welcome drink, those types of things.

- hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly (speak English fluently & also LGBT friendly). Staff are locals and had great ideas for excursions and things to do in the area - hotel restaurant had genuine Oaxacan food and great quality (better than able to find in Punta Zicatela, lovely bartender and chefs put great attention and care into the menu -- amazing drink selection ;-D -- worth going to restaurant even if don't stay in the hotel! - very close to the beach, about 5 min direct walk; also close to main commercial drag on calle Alejandro Cárdenas Peralta; about 15 min walk to the surf/food/lounge area of the beach right at Punta Zicatela, but not difficult at all - clean rooms & beautiful hotel design and architecture, hotel still feels relaxed and quiet event when full

- not very big deal, but room itself was not so big and while private enough, still had to take care (e.g. shower windows facing right onto public deck, so just keep window closed)

amazing hotel, with such a nice vibe, it’s brand new and the staff are insane attentive. they did so much for me and it feels like a family and friends atmosphere. great location and very close to everything you need in Oaxaca and PE. would stay again :)

they def need full length mirrors for the ladies in the rooms and also a small fridge. for water and essentials as it’s so hot in Escondido would be nice to keep stuff cold. sometimes for a solo traveller a TV would be nice for nights you don’t want to go out :)

I stayed at Raiz as a solo traveler, and it was terrific; the facilities and rooms were immaculate, and the pool was perfect for relaxing and enjoying an extraordinary cocktail; My favorite was the Santa Anna. The hotel is very close to la Punta, with most of the restaurants, and bars but far enough for privacy; I enjoyed everything here, from the service to the food and the people! Definitely, a must if you are planning to explore PXM

it was absolutely beautiful, really well designed, fit into the nature surrounding it, extremely kind staff. truly one of my favourite hotel experiences. they had fresh mangoes and banana available to eat free it was incredible
