it is centrally located in Tangier. I got an upgrade when I arrived which was extremely welcomed

they labeled this as a 5 star hotel but they do indeed have the facilities for it but requires the high level service that is the epitome of being a 5 star hotel. The concierge is the worst. they are rarely helpful with friends of guests that are arriving. they are extra nosy with everything. also, the housekeeping in my floor has opened my door twice without knocking or introducing themselves.

Location and the vibe of the hotel. Overall, this hotel takes you back to the 1930s thru 1950s when Tangier was an international city. The proximity of the hotel to many interesting spots of the city allow you to explore by foot the city.

Terrace should be used for a cafe. Right now it is this missed opportunity with a gorgeous view of the city. Also, the music in the restaurant and garden is boring and repetitive.

This was a last minute booking, as we had not originally planned to visit Tangier. We chose Villa de France on the basis of online reviews, and especially its location. Our welcome by the young woman receptionist, and the young doorman was flawless, and we were very pleased to receive a room upgrade. Our room was airy and spacious, Matisse motifs in the decor and furnishings (reflecting a famous former resident) were much appreciated (my wife is an artist). The only disappointment was that the finishes to woodwork in the room were "tired" and could do with some future tlc. Staying two nights, we decided to dine inhouse on our first night. Service in the bar for pre-dinner drinks was a bit hit and miss, and explanation as to what the dining options were had to be sought rather than being proffered. The dining room was as one would expect for a hotel with this pedigree and reputation, and the service was attentive and professional without being effusive. The menu was not too extensive and there were chef's recommendations. We were both very pleased with our entrees, but saddened that both main courses lacked a certain amount of culinary flair, as well as being under-seasoned. Breakfasts on both mornings were well presented and varied.

Although we understand and respect the cultural attitudes towards animals in general, and cats in particular; we were disappointed that on both nights there was a wailing cat on our room's corridor, and at times outside our door.

Grand old hotel set in best location in Old city. Still has charm from its past. Lovely room and a wonderful pool.to cool down by after day in bustle if souk. Great breakfast. Wonderful to relax with so many views and beautiful calm areas.

Staff were very polite, but service on Terrace bar was painfully slow. Don't be put off, every staff member tried to please, but maybe a cocktail was too difficult . We did note that some decorations could be updated but far preffered the charm of this old and clean hotel over modern soulless ones.

Everything. So drinks are expensive but that is to be expected. Excellent breakfast. Did not eat in the restaurant because no one else did but the bar menu was very good and reasonably priced. Definately book this hotel again.

Despite sending 4 emails and phoning the hotel for conformation of a shuttle there wasnt one when we arrived at the airport. So dont bother. When you arrive go to the taxi rank outside the airport and grab a taxi for 15 euros. No problem. That is my only moan.

they don’t have an iron, so you need to take your clothes to somewhere else or give it to them and pay double price

The staff was super nice and forthcoming. The food at the restaurant and the breakfast was very good! The size of the room and the view were also very beautiful. The location is perfect, just at the entrance to the Medina. All in all, we were super satisfied with the stay and can recommend it.

They didn't give us enough towels so we had to ask for more, but they were quite fast and then gave us a lot of towels. It wasn't super clean, but I think the standards in Europe are just a little bit different.

The location was great and the property was elegant with an old world charm. The staff was fabulous and really helped us find things to do and how to handle a cancelled ferry! They were lovely and very responsive.

The shower had a broken hose, but upon being made aware of that, they immediately fixed it, so it turned out not to be a problem at all, just a minor inconvenience that lasted only a matter of minutes.
