The hotel was surprisingly quiet despite the location (it's a red light area :)). The room was relatively spacious and clean. Staff was responsive. Breakfast is not offered, but there are a few cafes and restaurants nearby.

The price is definitely too high for a hotel of this level. Note that the stairs to the second floor are very narrow and very steep, so it might be difficult to have larger luggage. There is no hook or shelf in the shower room to hang a towel or put a toothbrush, there is also a glass for water missing.

Location 10/10. Very clean. Classy little bar area. Beds were beautifully comfortable. Staff are absolutely amazing, they were very kind to us when we came back after a full day and night getting intoxicated.

Room was advertised as having a TV which wasn’t there. I like to have background noise whilst I fall asleep. It was a blessing in disguise though because it forced us to go out and enjoy our time in Amsterdam rather than sit and watch TV with a hangover.

No breakfast which was not a problem. Basic facilities, superb location. Management excellent. Not recommended if you have heaps of luggage as the stairs are a challenge. However basic accommodation in the liveliest part of town! Looked after downstairs in their lounge complete with coffee and beers even after we had checked out. This is a place to stay if you travel light and don't want to spend too much time in your room. Good wifi.

No tv, jug,tea facilities etc. But who cares when you can experience a bustling night life straight out the door.

Location can't be beat. What makes this place is the staff. Elaina, the lady who was working there when I arrived, was an instant connection as friends, and she will be the reason I return. If you know Amsterdam, the location is right in the middle of the heart of Red Light Dist. Expect steep stairs, but most hotels have very steep stairs that's normal in Holland. Nice hot water, WiFi needs a booster on the upper floors to extend the range of signal. Hotel is going to be updated, and it will be perfect then. Elaina is the best, and she knows everything about Amsterdam. Marc was awesome in the morning when I was leaving. Thank you all.

Location is central Amsterdam most easily reached by metro less than five minutes walk west from the Nieuwmarkt Metro stop. Hotel 83 is in the Red Light District, above an erotica store. All staff were friendly and happy to carry bags up and down the steep staircase (I don't think there's an elevator). Exterior doors locked for security but staff available 24 hours. My room was clean, mattress comfortable, washroom immaculate. Cupboards somewhat dated but so what. No view out my windows, but this was not important to me. TV and remote, large comfy chair in room. No deposit required. The room was basic but entirely adequate for the price. A beautiful (and I think old) white cat lounges on the main floor at the bar. She is unfazed by guests - probably has seen it all!

I took an afternoon nap and noise from hallway was noticeable. At night, though, no noise at all.

The taxi driver dropped me off saying 'this is the heart of the red light district'. Despite the traffic in front of the front door the hotel was Dutch clean, Dutch tidy, and Dutch functional. The staff were very helpful and the rooms were very quiet. The taxi driver told me it was a very old family-run hotel. It would have been easy to walk there from the central railway station if I had had more confidence (head to the steeple you see as you come out the front of Amsterdam Centraal, pass it and then it is a straight street, about a km all up). It is in the centre of the red light district, but the next parallel street is full of restaurants, with a supermarket and a bank. The stairs are steep (which seems a feature of Dutch hotels).

Breakfast is normally served late unless you ask beforehand ... but nothing really starts moving in the neighbourhood until after 10.

If you know amsterdam, you would know red light district. Hotel was in the middle of redlight district. There cant be a more central location than this one. we stayed in a shared bathroom option, but we still had a sink in the room and it was good.

The only thing i didnt like was the wifi. I had no connection in the room. there should be more wifi routers in multiple floors. there was only 2 (1 from reservation desk 1 for guests). This problem could easily fixed then it would be perfect.

Everything we expected, bachelor party with 18 of us. They had 6 bedroom "dorms", and they were great for our purposes. If we all had our own room, we would've been herding cats, as is, the shared room helped us get a start to our day. Beds were alright for European bedding (European bedding is awful compared to American hotels). Right in the Red Light district, just off a canal. It was a perfect hotel for a stag. Owner made me a tea with honey because she could tell I didn't have a voice from, ya know, drinking way too much. You can tell the building is OLD OLD, because the staircases are STEEP! Clearly made before the area had code compliance lol. Great trip!
