The location is great, and the hotel in general is very decent.

During our stay we met 3 people taking turns at the reception. Two of them were great, very kind and friendly. But there was one who was exactly the opposite, being very prejudice, spoke to us very rudely asking 'what were we on' and kept pushing with an outrage face, we were just smiling asking for the key to our room to go to sleep (Saturday night). On different occasions just giving us a mean looks. The fact that you MUST leave the key at the reception each time you leave the hotel would be totally fine if it weren't for this person. I won't give the hotel a bad rating only for this very bad experience with that man, but I certainly won't be staying there again.

I had a five star experience in hotel Galerij! Everything, from the professionalism of the staff, to my room which was facing the street, had a massive window and high to the ceiling which despite its few square meters allowed for a spacious and airy room sensation. This hotel is also smokers friendly since they have a big balcony where you can smoke - where the hospitable staff might just make you a free coffee as well. The hotel is very centrally located and even though it's fairly old, I found it to be charming.

The internet was at times a bit slow and there were construction materials laying around on the hallways of the hotel but it didn't bother me that much and with a old building you need to work on it more or less constantly.

It was clean, classic Dutch style building, good location with proximity to Dam Square, Anne Frank House etc.. The staff are the best thing about the property according to me. They are friendly and very helpful. Got me through difficult situations. Alparslan who works there become a good friend who in his time off guided me around the city. Another person called Amir provided really good information about the city and even helped me out when I was in a difficult situation. Thank you for hosting me and making my trip to Amsterdam the most memorable time I’ve had so far.

Nothing. Everything was prefect!

This hotel is perfect for a weekend with friends, the location is central and only 20 minutes' walk from Centraal Station. The receptionist looked after us throughout our stay, he was very friendly and we were able to leave our luggage in the hotel while we made a final tour of the city. We wanted side-by-side rooms with friends and our request was respected. We had everything we needed, sheets and towels were provided. I highly recommend it - just don't be afraid of the stairs!

Staying at Hotel Galerij is an interesting and recomendable experience. I will never forget it. The service is excellent and the guys at the reception are really helpful and friendly. The location is great. The center is within walking distance and the Tram passes just outside the door. The mattresses are comfortable and I was falling asleep to the sound of the leaves, moving in the wind, in the big tree in the backyard.

The stairs are just as steep as they say they are. But the staff are really helpful if you need assistance to get the luggage up and down.

Behind Dam square ,Galerij is ideally located for many of the city's major attractions ( Anne Frank house) ect. Rooms are very basic but clean and you get what you pay for in this wonderful city. The staff there were very friendly and helpful people always on hand 24/7. No breakfast available but there's a nice little traditional Dutch pancake shop below. All in all I'd recommend Hotel Galerij for a solo trip or a couple of nights.

The location was very good, very close to the Royal Palace and within walking distance to the sights. Though the room was a bit modest, after settling in I really enjoyed my privacy, I felt safe, my needs as a traveller were met, the staff was supportive, friendly and fully reliable. The facilities were shared, but they were constantly cleaned and supplied. I stayed there for a reasonable price. There was no loud noise during the night, the chimes of the churchbells nearby were calming.

The shortcomings are not in the control of the staff or owners. It is a historic building with narrow and steep stairs that cannot be altered. Tourists should go there with small suitcases and be fit enough to climb those stairs. The same is true for the thin and creaking floor. The simplicity of the room made my mind come up with some creative decorative ideas. My impressions will mostly be positive.

Great location, only five minutes by foot from the Royal Palace in the city center. Only 15 minutes by foot from the central station. Friendly staff, available 24 hours, always help with advice. Clean shared toilet and shared bathroom. Very good price to stay in the city center of Amsterdam! Because Amsterdam is very expensive city.

Single room was super small, only bed and mini sink inside. Very steep and long stairs, hot to climb in the summer. Old towels, better bring your own. Outside the hotel is the church and every 15 minutes you hear the bells ringing. Key must be left at the reception every time you leave to the city.

Really good location, staff are all really nice and friendly and very accommodating. The rooms were a good size and the bed were really comfortable. Can come and go as you please as it is staffed 24/7 at reception.

Not the cleanest.

The location is perfect but also the staff are all brilliant! Couldn't have been more friendly and helpful they went out their way to help me on more than one occasion. Thank u i will be back soon😎
