I couldn't have been more pleased with the location of Top of the City. So convenient to everything I wanted to do in the city - whether heading out to the museums (Rijksmseum, Moco, Van Gogh) or to the train station and deeper into old Amsterdam. I prefer to walk, so I didn't take advantage of the Tram which stops less than half a block from the apartment. On the nights that I was tired after a long day of air travel or walking Amsterdam or biking to Keukenhof, I was able to find interesting restaurants on a veritable restaurant row on the street behind Top of the City. Next door is a bakery selling warm stroopwafels, perfect before heading out or coming back from a long day. Shops to buy last minute souvenirs for family are just outside the apartment (including two or three cheese shops). The view each morning of the canal along the flower market was invigorating. I even learned to laugh at the spiral staircase that frightened me on my first day's stay (I remain grateful that the host's kind son took my suitcase from me without my asking and walked it upstairs to my apartment). The apartment was clean - the bathroom, the kitchen, the bedroom, the living area. I had total privacy. I feel that I made the right choice in staying at Top of the City.

The heavy comforter on the bed was too thick for the unexpected warm weather. A thinner blanket or sheet would have been preferable. The bed and pillows themselves are perfectly comfortable.

Rather than staying in a traditional hotel as I had for years that were really just a place to sleep and usually not a place that created any memories, I wanted the experience of staying in an authentic vintage residence. It was great! Although it had some beautiful modern comforts, it had an old world feel. I showed up after a long delayed overseas flight with too much luggage. The owners daughter was so very kind to take all my luggage up the flights of stairs. It was a bit of a shock to me to walk 5 flights of narrow stairs in a vintage Amsterdam home. I figured if many Dutch people of all ages do this every day & look in great shape, I felt determined to do this myself. I also had 2 Dutch friends stop by for a visit and the made the stair climb effortless. By the end of my visit, I had more stamina to walk & explore this beautiful country. On cool summer days, I loved that I could open the windows. On 1 warm night, I made use of the ac unit. It was also nice to walk outside to see many flower shops opening up for the day.. So pleasing to see the array of colors. I happen to use the app Citymapper from this great hotel location for planning walks, train, metro when exploring around.

I didn't get to thank the owners personally on my departure day. I also wish I had stayed a few more days.

Amazing place. Not a hotel with a lobby that is all 22nd century looks (for that I would have gone to the Hague), it is a 17th century building with modern facilities. It was great living, imagining, the Dutch people from 300 years ago going up and down the stairs. It was, to say the least, an amazing experience. The owners of the apartment are a world apart, we where robbed on the ICE train first class from Frankfurt to Amsterdam, (avoid this means of transport of you can), which resulted in our needing to go to The Hague to authenticate the police report. When I told the owner of the situation he personally took us to all the places we needed to go to resolve the mess. God bless them, we would have been stuck without them.

The amount of thieves in and especially in Amsterdam. Nothing is safe once your out of the building. Don't say you were not warned! The ICE train refuses to put sign for passengers to hold on to their belongings because it is apparently bad for business but robberies on the trains, as per the Conductor on board, are a daily occurrence.

Location is perfect, right in the heart of everything. The apartment was clean and cozy and the bed was amazingly comfortable. We loved sitting in the front window looking at the beautiful city and watching the people below. The trolly was minutes away and walking was easy and close to everything. Our host, Chiara, was incredibly nice and accommodating. She communicated before, during and after our stay. Chiara was outstanding. This was our last stop on our holiday and are so pleased with our experience. We will stay here again for sure.

We were told about the stairs prior to our arrival and booking. They are manageable but very steep. If you have heavy luggage it’s a bit of a work out. We managed our 4 large suitcases without too much of an issue

Location, location, location!! This beautiful apartment located in the very centre of Amsterdam opposite the flower market. All the main attractions are within walking distance, plenty of nice restaurants, supermarket and great shopping just around the corner. Lovely host that helped us with our luggage and also dropped us to the airport at the end of our stay. Beds were comfortable and apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

This property got very steep staircase, wasn’t a big issue for us as we had help with our luggage but might be an issue for people with mobility problems. Just be mindful of this when booking.

The owner who met us was very nice and accommodating. The place is very spacious and clean. The location is close to all restaurants and shops.

The stairs is more like a ladder because it was very steep and narrow. I’m not sure if that’s common in Amsterdam. The washer was not properly working and the internet was very slow. Also there isn’t any air conditioning but we came when the weather was tolerable.

Location was excellent, view was great. Host and support staff were helpful and friendly. Supermarket was located just around the corner.

Access to 4th floor apartment was only via narrow, winding stairs (we had been forewarned however). Host helped with heavy luggage. There was no microwave.

Our accommodation was very convenient to the city and the tram service was directly opposite and easy to use. The owners had kindly relocated us to an apartment below as they thought the size would suit us better as three adults and nearer to the ground floor. It was perfect. The lady who met us was friendly and gave us useful information. The property was clean, warm and comfortable and had all the amenities you'd need. The Albert Heijn supermarket is just around the corner for groceries or there is a small Aldi about 3-4 tram stops away. You're in reaching distance of the city centre with its fascinating museums, local parks and an abundance of eateries. Recommend the Rijkmuseum and Resistance Museum. We enjoyed our homely stay here.

Location, views, tram transport close, restaurants plentiful, varied and close, supermarket close, washing machine.

Stairs daunting more like a ladder most will get used to them but not suitable for some who have mobility limitations or maybe height phobias. Washing machine did not come with instructions so one had to work out how it worked particularly since it was of a kind that I had not seen before. Once it was worked out it worked well.

Location excellent. View of canal (Singel). Quirky traditional building. Helpful host/housekeeper allowed us early luggage drop on arrival and late luggage collection on departure. Thank you, it allowed us much more time to enjoy Amsterdam.

A little tired/worn. Dishwasher broken and coffee machine leaky. Stairs are really quite dramatically steep but part of the character.
