Loved our room! It was magnificent. One has to expect a smaller room in Amsterdam as the quarters are smaller, but the comforts were wonderful. Comfortable bed and bathroom. Loved the breakfasts; very full and the staff were terrific. Also, really enjoyed spending time in the library and looking through the numerous books with my spouse over drinks. The hotel location is great for accessing the city of Amsterdam. We will definitely return to the hotel on future visits.

The hotel should serve stroopwafels as a treat in the bedrooms.

The location is excellent. The room was quiet (we were not on the canal side). WIFI was great. The staff were a pleasure to deal with - at the front desk, the cleaners, in the bar/library- the best.

The A/C was welcome, since, even though it wasn't hot outside, it was very humid. The A/C worked, but only went down to 18C, which in reality it never actually got to. It was more like 70, which is okay, but we like sleeping a bit cooler than that. We couldn't just open the windows- though they did open, because it rained several days while we were there (in July). Also, it was nice to have bathrobes, but the bathrobes are fairly stiff and not particularly comfortable. These are small issues, though- the service at this hotel is really excellent and our room was wonderful.

Location is wonderful and the staff were so helpful in pointing out places to visit. Breakfast was excellent and the room comfortable. The hotel bar is a lovely place to unwind that served us gorgeous cocktails. This hotel is stylish with it's own character.

The only little niggle is that my family and I heard some low music in rooms 23 and 24 at night. We think this was coming from the Brasserie that serves evening meals. Just turning the sound down a little would help us drift off to sleep better. That said, The Ambassade is overall one of the quietest and tranquil hotels I have ever stayed in. The sound did not go on very late (I'm normally tucked in my 10 pm!) I didn't complain because it was of such short duration to contend with. I'm being picky here because it's the only thing that did not make the stay absolutely perfect. Would stay here again without a moment's hesitation.

Superb hotel, with professional staff and exquisite interior. Everything worked as expected or better. From check in you can sense that the hotel is high quality. You have the real flowers, art on the walls and concierge who manages the check in fluently. A portier carries our luggage to the room, which is spotless, functional and styled old fashioned luxury. Spectacular view was to the channel, worth the extra cost. Breakfast was incredible, with made to order omelettes and crepes. Fresh ingredients, from honey melons to fruit salad, and yoghurt to cava. Many cheeses, which I personally love. All in all deserves to be a five star hotel. I've stayed in numerous four star hotels in Amsterdam, and this one is head and shoulders above it's grade.

I never write public reviews, but here goes. If you want to taste, feel and absorb some traditional Dutch culture this is the hotel for you. Set along one of Amsterdams beautiful canals, the Ambassade is a true find. Quaint, subtle, elegant but with all modern amenities one would expect from a hotel in 2023. The service is second to none and that “ in this difficult global hospitality downturn with service lacking everywhere from hotels in the world “, is a true testament to the hotel and its team. I must say a special thanks to Lotte ( I hope it’s spelt correctly) at reception, who was a truly helpful young lady, who tried to assist in all my requests. Finally, to the Sebastian and Ahmed at the bar - even if you don’t stay here - ask Sebastian to make you a Basil Smash ( double shaken) a remarkable cocktail that must be tried to be appreciated. This little bar within the hotel is probably on par for service and standard as any bar in Europe today, they know service, customers and anticipate your needs ( this is what we need to get back to post covid ). Ambassade - Don’t change a thing. You will fly, fly and fly high.

Absolutely nothing.

Great location....perfect for walking everywhere between the central station and the Rijksmuseum. Breakfast was good. Staff was excellent, at reception, in the library bar and the bellman William. Rooms were generous size. Library bar provided a calm oasis for a rest after walking the crowded streets.

The layout of the hotel was a bit unorthodox. Also, we weren't too happy about climbing stairs for bedroom and bathroom. We actually banged our head a couple times on wooden beams in the attic. Not sure if the value was there for what we received.

Breakfast is really good. Everything is fresh and the staff is very kind and courteous.

The stairs to get to the upper rooms are quite small and tight. But not a huge issue.

Excellent location in a very walkable area. Breakfast was wonderful! The room with beamed ceilings and a view of the canal below was outstanding. We were very happy with the overall accommodations.

No complaints about the hotel, though Amsterdam needs to get the bicycle traffic under control. It is dangerous to walk in the city on sidewalks or legally crossing streets without the risk of being hit by a bicycle. There seems to be no respect for pedestrians, seniors and people with disabilities. My spouse uses a rollator and was also hit several times legally crossing a street at an intersection.

Beautiful hotel with a lot of "quirky " fun to it. Rooms were the usual European size although ours was tucked away, down a narrow spiral staircase to the door. The actual bedroom was a nice size and our bathroom was a stairway down to a wonderful size tub, shower. We could also use our own "secret exit " door to the main street rather than going all over to get to the lobby. Our friends had a completely different room but again it was all well looked after. Ideal location away from the busy streets and noise but also close enough to be able to walk to all the main attractions the city has to offer. The staff were 100% customer happiness. We had gone out for a walk and to find somewhere for dinner only to be told by several restaurants near by that we had to have reservations. We headed back to the hotel and with out hesitation we were taken straight to a table and staff were very helpful in explaining what items were etc on their menus. Breakfast was also amazing with plenty to choose from or if you wanted something cooked then that was an option as well with no extra charge. Very happy that we had found this hotel and really had a great time staying with them.

I loved it and was ok with the different floor levels and staircases but I wouldnt think this is ideal for those who may have some mobility issues due to the long hallways, spiral staircases to get to some areas of the hotel.

Located in the 9th street canals, this beautiful hotel is located within easy walking distance for sightseeing and restaurants. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel exceeded our expectations on every level, from the amazing breakfast to the coffee library and Michelin quality dining experience The hotel restaurant is excellent! Highly recommend staying here when visiting Amsterdam. Thank you so much to the staff for a most enjoyable stay!
