Our room was huge...and spotless. Possibly the cleanness hotel room we've ever stayed in. The king sized bed was unexpected and very comfortable. The bath had both a modern tub and large separate shower with a rain head and a normal head that you could hold if needed. The staff was always anxious to assist in any way, and the main restaurant was a pleasure... excellent food and service.

We were a bit dismayed when we pulled up to the hotel. The age of the building and vacant lot (under construction) immediately adjacent caused us pause. The main entrance requires a set of 9 steps that we didn't anticipate as one of us is handicapped. However, the desk staff noted our arrival and immediately helped with luggage. There is a luggage elevator around the corner, but we had no way of knowing that in advance.

The location seemed a little off the beaten path, but I ended up loving it, close to watertaxi plus tram. I enjoyed watching a cruise ship pull away from the pier.

I felt the lighting in the lobby could be a little brighter. Finding main entrance was a challenge. Be advised, There are a steps to climb because it's an historic building. The rooms are quite large. I felt the wall TV could be a bit bigger since it is on a huge wall. The lightbulbs in the lamps next to my bed did not match. This is a pet peeve of mine so it may not bother another.

Very comfortable no nonsense hotel with nice mix of historical elements and modern comfort.

The day before arrival we were contacted by the hotel and they offered an upgraded room for 25 EUR per night extra. This room had an outside facing window instead of the cheaper room which only has a window facing the inner courtyard. We did not see the cheaper room, but as the window was fairly small and overlooking a construction site, we doubt if this was worth the extra pay. The room was very however very comfortable and had all amenities as we expected.

Location is excellent. The rooms are a great size, bathrooms are a good size. Cleanliness, House Keeping exceptional. The restaurant, was fantastic, Food selection was good, but the food at the Basement (bar below,) was par excellent. Service and staff were very friendly, always there to help. A brilliant property, with amazing staff and also an amazing and old building looked after very well.

Location and Views best views in the city. Friendly people and great service. Historic photos and great nautical themes. Water taxis outside.

It was not senior friendly-steep steps outside to get to lobby and in rooms. The A/C heat should include Directions in English. We could never use it. The bathrooms were limited in space and no place in shower to hold items. I had to put soap and shampoo etc on the floor or balance them on a towel rack.

Best thing about this hotel is location, the building, design, and last but not the least are people. Never had so much good interactions with all people working in a hotel. At first, we booked just a room, and after recommendations from a friend we also reserved a table for dinner, and finally a table for breakfast. We also wanted to get a haircut for my son in barber shop, but we didn't have a reservations so we'll leave that for the next time :-)

Breakfast is excellent but it's should be a level up just because everything is exceptional so that too should be. This is just a hint, not a complaint ;-)

Location was great, within walking distance of cruise port. Water Taxi stop directly behind hotel provides easy access to city center and other attractions. Quirky old historical building, but the rooms are furnished with modern comfortable amenities. On-site restaurant served great food at reasonable prices, very popular with the locals. Consider booking at a rate that includes breakfast, fantastic offering.

I loved our room, 204. The view from our 'balcony' was the best. We could see the sunset by the Euromast. And then enjoy the people in front doing the same thing, families, couples, people reading and drinking leisurely.

It took us a bit to try to figure out how to use the metro from that spot. Maybe a car service to get to the metro. The room was warm to hot. It took all day to cool the room down even with the shades down all day. I wish there were deck chairs for hotel guests. The only way we could get 2 chairs was around 4

I loved the history! The room was large and heated with STEAM which made it exceptionally cozy because it was cool & rainy. Large windows that open (though it was too chilly for that) and look out onto river and businesses on the river. The bar and breakfast were both excellent. Once the cruise ships leave port, there's a spectacular view of the city and the Erasmus bridge. The area was quiet most of the time. Restaurants and supermarket within easy walking distance.

No instructions in the room how to turn on the heat. Hotel is located about 2 blocks from public transportation, both bus and tram, so when it's wet or cold, it could get uncomfortable. Not in center of city (which I knew but for some might be a drawback). In my room, which I liked, the toilet was located on one side of the room and down 2 stairs (yes, within the room). There was no wash basin in the toilet, so after using it, one had to walk across the room, down another 2 stairs into the shower/basin bathroom. There were lights on both sets of steps that were supposed to go on when it got dark, but the batteries were burned out so they did not light. I pulled out the dead batteries and left a note for housekeeping (in Dutch, thank you Google translate) and they replaced the batteries.

This hotel is perfect for people looking for historic character combined with modern facilities. The staff were very friendly. Breakfast was great, well worth the cost. I would recommend a water taxi ride. Ideal location for those picking up a cruise.

Not much not to like. The bathroom door needed some oil. Visitors should be aware of steps up to reception
