Wonderful hosts; great home baking; and a very reasonable price. Denise and Malcolm offer the sort of hospitality that is now largely missing from the "AirBnB" sector. I don't think we've ever stayed in holiday accommodation where we've been made to feel so genuinely welcome and cared for! We would happily stay again.

Not so much a dislike (or a deal breaker), but since I've been asked about what would make the stay even better: Future guests should note that access to the toilet and shower requires leaving the unit and taking a few steps outside (the bathroom is immaculate though!).

Wow! The birds! While enjoying the view I was amazed by the tui flitting around the lawn, the kereru in the cabbage tree and hearing nearby Kingfisher in the bush alongside the house. The garden is so tidy and relaxing to be in while looking out to the water. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming, but left us to ourselves. Breakfast was perfect - I love cereal and the home-made granola was a treat, with fresh fruit salad. A short walk down to the wharf to feel part of the neighborhood and we spotted a stingray cruising around the wharf two evenings in a row. What a treat. And the accommodation was very comfortable and had everything we needed.

Not really something that concerned us, but the bathroom was a short walk (5 steps) outdoors - all under cover and sheltered. Lights at night. It added to the relaxing holiday feel. But maybe something to check out if mobility is an issue.

Lovely couple,so friendly. Some love.y homely touches,homemade bred,homemade cakes on arrive. Breakfast is left in the apartment,which is great,no pressure to get up early,just have it when you choose. Bed really comfy,views are amazing. Denise very kindly let me use the washing machine and let me hang my clothes out to dry

Only that the bathroom is just outside,but nonetheless is beautiful aNd the shower is very powerful. They have done the best they can re bathroom,as not enough room inside to put an e suite.

the scones have to rate as our number 1 love here! The best either of us had ever tasted (and we’ve eaten a fair few)! bed comfortable room spotless Malcolm & Denise are lovely & Malcolm’s bible of the area is invaluable. bathroom super cosy with a little fan heater for chilly mornings, shower strong and hot. really spoilt with the fresh orange juice, fresh fruit and home made cereals. we didn’t use the bbq or microwave as the restaurants in town were very good (uma & pepper tree). outside area is private & overlooks the bay, great for a drink after a day out exploring. A car is a must here as it’s out of town, but then a car is needed really to explore the peninsula.

Our hosts were friendly and welcoming. The room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean and the bed was supremely comfortable. The view of the sea from our bed was sensational. The fridge was stocked with gorgeous fruit, fruit juice, yogurt, milk and jams - and there was even homemade granola. The birds and flowers in the garden were gorgeous - a little piece of Paradise!

Every detail is met. Homemade items for breakfast stocked in the kitchen and every day is a special baked treat. Even have robes and slippers! Hosts are great. Appreciated all the help in planning our tour of the area. So many beaches, so little time!

Bird Haven is a hidden gem! Quaint, cozy, and so many homey touches! The view from the room was absolutely gorgeous. Denise and Malcolm were so welcoming and provided great suggestions for things to do in the area. The breakfast provisions were excellent as well. I hope to be able to stay there again!

A lovely comfortable self contained unit with amazing sea views. Malcolm and Denise are such professional hosts but at the same time are so genuinely friendly and helpful. We loved cooking on the gas BBQ and eating on the patio with the perfect sea view.

a well presented B&B, clean , amenities were excellent and our hosts were so helpful and friendly. Although not in town, the scenery was wonderful and an easy few minutes drive to a cute lovely town. A lot of meal choices Well located to see the wonderful sites of the Coramandel town and area.
