Stopforths Motel

Wonderful stay at Stopforths Motel!!! Rooms are relatively modern and clean, well equipped, and spacious enough for our family of 3. Option for connected rooms with our extended family. Service is 5-star. Sonia is amazing, from providing recommendations at check-in and preparing the perfect breakfast. Really appreciate the staff for working hard over the holiday season. We considered booking a seemingly older accommodation that’s nearer to town/beach but so glad we stayed with Stopforths instead.

Lovely, find everything you need, everything for cooking facilities, even a dishwasher with powder , and an extractor hood ; very good location, very quiet , no noise, even if not far from city center which is walkable. Warm welcoming. Very confortable, Extremely clean, very good bed, large room lot of space. Nice bathroom with good quality and nice shower.

This is a family run motel with very friendly and informative owners. It looks like you are pulling into someone's home, but the motel is hidden behind. The room was large and lovely with a full kitchen, and even had a jacuzzi. The beds were super comfortable. The town of Hokatika is a seaside gem with beach walks and colorful rocks. The town is small enough to walk about, but large enough to have all the services available and interesting shops.

Stunning room. Check-in with owners Sonja and Phil was welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, modern, impressively furnished, clean, neat, tidy and well resourced with lovely bathroom accessories and well stocked coffee/teas etc. The beds were super comfortable and great shower pressure. We couldn't fault anything and highly recommend Stopforths Motel to stay if you're in or around Hokitika.

Really lovely modern and spotlessly clean unit. Excellent service on arrival even though it was late in the evening, particularly appreciated the ready offer of being helped upstairs with our luggage. And the cold serve of beer and wine in the fridge was such a nice touch. Nice toiletries and a good selection of hot drinks on the counter. Loved the unit, very thoughtful presentation with everything you need including a dishwasher. All the things you need like bedside tables and a nice little dining table and chairs. Nice big TV positioned for viewing from the bed. The bath was great too. Also, very close easy walking distance to town (including a supermarket) and the beach and a nice fish and chip shop just a couple of minutes walk away. And so much to do in the Hokitika area, you could stay for a week and still have things to do. Would definitely recommend and will stay again. Thank you!

There is no outdoor area at this motel (as advertised) but there is a nice big park opposite with very nice picnic table seating and play equipment, and a little table and chairs outside the unit, and the town and beach are just a few minutes walk away too.

Family run hotel with very friendly hosts. Kitchen utensils are very complete, you can cook some simple food. The shower is powerful and hot. The room was clean and tidy. The furniture in the room is carefully selected and of good quality. My son and I are from Shanghai. We have traveled many places. This hotel is a hotel that we think is very high-quality. Hope to stay a few more nights next time.

A spotlessly clean and new room with a very comfortable bed and an excellent bathroom. Everything you would want in a room. A great host who went out of her way to make us feel welcome.

The external presentation from the street could improve with better signage as we drove straight past.

Loved this stop. Made to feel very welcome and excellent advice at check in for where to eat and go including pub, Thia and Glow worms, all within and easy walk. All very calm and relaxing, including a fabulous hot tub bath. Room super comfortable and very clean. When we checked out staff were singing as they worked. A gem 💎

The location is great as it is not far from the beach and city center. The staff was also very friendly as she recommended some restaurants in town and sights around Hokitika. Breakfast was simple but nice. The host will cook and then bring it to your room.

The room was fresh and airy, spotlessly clean, bed was very comfortable and the property is in a quiet area so slept very well. Sonya was very friendly, welcoming and gave us pointers about things to see in the area and where to eat etc.
