We were in Rotorua unfortunately for my mum's funeral. We needed 4 rooms for my siblings and their partners and kids and myself and kids and for my dad. They were very accommodating in trying to have us all as close as possible to each other. They found out we were there for my mum's funeral and they went above and beyond to help us out with anything we needed or to make it as comfortable and easy as possible for our stay there. Helped us with printing, getting us a breakfast table, opening the bar earlier, helping us out with the kids and sending us flowers and a lovely note to our room! Amazing service, thankyou so much Sudima! It meant so much.

We visited Rotorua four times in 2023 and we stayed at Sudima every time. It’s in a great location, close to everything and easy to find on Maps.

Not much. We would have like our usual room, as we have two young children. During our last stay, they had us in a room with a glass sliding door that lead to the carpark. Not ideal with young kids, but we made it work. If it was a real issue, we would have told staff and I’m sure they would accomodation. However, it was a short stay and not worth the hassle of moving.

Staff were amazingly friendly, and ready to help. We got a free room upgrade on arrival - thank you. The gent in charge of breakfast allowed me to grab a free croissant from the buffet, even though I had a very delicious À la carte order. Nothing was too much problem for the very friendly and attentive staff.

We had a fan from an air extract/feed ducted system create some white noise during our sleep, which didn't worry us too much once we got used to it. A fire alarm went off in an adjacent building which was unfortunate - but not an issue caused by Sudima.

Location was good, close to the city and the Polynesian Spa. Comfortable beds if you like soft but not too soft, and the usual basic amenities were available like tea/coffee. Car park was a very short walk away from the building, but not directly outside your doorstep/within the complex if that's what you're looking for. Would like to see the bathroom get an adjustable height shower head, as the fixed height one is just a little low to wash your hair without stooping if you're six feet tall - but it's perfectly usable otherwise. Checking in and checking out was easy. The staff seemed friendly and we didn't need to call on them for anything. We opted not to have our room serviced for a short stay of three days so didn't need new towels etc, but did find the room pristine and clean upon arrival.

Very nice hotel at honest price. We were very happy. Large room. Strong air con. Good wifi. Everything clean and good repair. Great breakfast buffet with cappuccino machines. Excellent location on the lake. Guest laundry is all free washer, dryer, and soap. Great opportunity to catch up with dirty clothes. Rotorua is an amazing area with lots to see. We had 5 nights here and could have spent a week or more without running out of activities.

Safe in room did not work. Swimming pool is chilly, but even worse and very inconveniently they do not have towels at the pool. You must go to reception and ask for one.

Room itself was fine - clean & comfortable. Given the high price of accommodation in Rotorua, I thought this was reasonable value for money and the location is good

We went into reception to ask about a room and were told that it was fully sold out. I mentioned that it was still available on booking.com and she said that would update as they had just sold the last room. I went outside, booked on booking,com (even better it had dropped in price!), went back in 2 minutes later and were given keys to my room.

Beds were firm and comfortable. Everything was very clean.

Staff were overwhelmed with the number of people checking in on the day we arrived. Took nearly half an hour before I was served. When I was served, I was told they had to move rooms around because they were obviously behind on cleaning them. In the end, we were given a room right at the very back of the hotel, on the second floor with no elevator. Normally I wouldn’t be bothered by that, but we had an 18 month old with us and trekking up and down stairs with him and our luggage was challenging. They clearly didn’t think about that before assigning our room. Our room also didn’t have enough towels and I also had to ring reception to remind them to bring the cot we requested.

I’m surprised this property doesn’t have a higher rating. yes, some parts are a little dated but they are working on some renos, and I’m sure once they’re done the price will be much higher. staff were friendly, front desk, housekeeping and maintenance even the contractors working around were all very friendly. maybe that’s just New Zealanders in general. we made good use of the heated pool and laundry facilities. one day the pool was being cleaned so we popped across the road to use the Polynesian Spa, which was pretty affordable and a great spot. Close to all restaurants and shops. I would recommend this place to anyone! Some folks commented on the renovations in their reviews, but it seems like they were working on certain sections that were not rented out to guests and were well out of the way and didn’t cause any disturbances.

I was in Room 112 - it was comfortable, neat and tidy. I ordered room service which was affordable and delicious. I loved that the laundry was free, however, I wish it was open longer.

laundry hours - we were there during peak holiday period so there were a lot of guests and we were always waiting for a machine, so having it open earlier and longer would have helped. There was no rubbish bin in the room, just a small eco friendly one that didn't suite our needs. We were there for 6 days, so I had rubbish and I needed a small bin and bags.

I had a lake view, which was amazing. I liked that the room was modern and had been renovated to a high standard. I was impressed with the comfortable beds and that there was an Amazon Alexa in the room. The room service menu was quite small, but the meal was excellent.

The TV had no signal. I could have asked the staff to fix the problem, but chose to watch something on my own laptop instead. I was also hoping for a bath in the bathroom, but it was only a shower. I also felt like the rooms were quite noisy and that you could hear the other quests coming and going, banging doors etc..
