Location is exceptional, one block from the Information Centre and from the bus stops to go out to Redwoods and Te Puia etc. Not at all noisy which was surprising. Most of the people staying there seemed to be seasonal workers from Germany. The private double room with shared bathroom that we booked was comfortable, clean and the bed was awesome! The kitchen was maybe a little small for the number of people constantly in there but it was maintained clean and well stocked with utensils&pots etc. The free pasta and coffee was helpful for the budget conscious.

More common room space, the couches were taken up by more people than there was space and the outside area with bbq was not clean nor appealing to spend time there.

The location was good. Rather central. Dorm was clean. It was what I expected of a hostel: low cost, a place to sleep. I was surprised that it didn't get too loud at night (might have been because it was a weekday?) Facilities were small but clean (few cubicles, few sinks)

We were told there was no parking but parking available nearby (5 minutes walk). But that parking is actually only free from 5:00 pm to 9:00 am. We had to rush out in the morning. Bunk beds were very squeaky, when one of the occupants moved, the one above or below woke up. Consider a small light source by the bunks.

The staff was super friendly and willing to help us any time. We felt really comfortable and everything was very well organized. I love that they explained how the hostel works when we arrived. And the kitchen and toilets always super clean and tidy.

The room we were in was really hot during the day and the windows were small to let the fresh air come in properly. However, it wasnt a big problem for us. We solved it with the two fans provided in the room. And we really enjoyed our stay there. We highly recommend this place.

the staff here was super nice and accommodating! helped whenever they could with any request big or small. they seemed to also do their best to keep everything as clean and nice looking as possible despite it being an older building, you don’t find that with every hostel in NZ! I stayed here 4 nights and would stay again. Super close to the water and to some nice parks.

I imagine it gets quite hot during the peak summer months, it was hot in mild weather in the rooms and most europeans don’t like the sound of fans so the rooms got stuffy sometimes.

Great location near the city center and the bus station. Good atmosphere for people of all ages. Friendly staff and good service. Ok facilities to cook and I liked the complimentary rice and hot drinks.

Little noisy, all sounds can be heard from the corridors, doors noisy and so on. Sometimes not so clean in the kitchen and bathrooms because all people are not tidy and cleaning took time. No chair in the room.

The staff was helpful, happy, and hardworking. And the people staying there were all kind, considerate, and quiet. The kitchen had everything, even an air fryer!!

I believe the owner of this hostel is a traveler who has spent time in his own hostel. The lockers in the room were a joke, very small and rusty inside. There wasn’t even a shelf near the bed. Everything was on the floor.

So close to the bus stop and the lake side! Kitchen and bathrooms were always clean. Appreciated having an en suite bathroom as well as others.

Curtains could be heavier so the room is darker. Kitchen is very narrow (but there isn't much you can do about that!) Please put up more hooks or rails so people can get their gear off the ground or dry wet things.

Fantastic location, barely 100m from the i-site and intercity bus stop. The staff were so friendly and incredibly accommodating. Free rice and pasta!

Not the cleanest but did the job! Beds are also not very comfy and quite noisy, but again, for the price, they do the job! Hostel didn't feel very sociable but this is not necessarily a con.

Great location, 50 m from the Intercity bus stop. The most clean hostel’s kitchen I have ever seen. Toilets were always clean and available. There is not elevator but the girl at the reception helped me bringing upstairs my very heavy suitcase. Pasta, rice, salt, coffee and tea, free to use.

No proper indoor dining room.
