Everything really. We went for the first time last year and decided to do it annually. I couldn't stop talking about it to my friends and three other couples tagged along this time. They were all blown away. Every single staff member was friendly, accommodating and nothing you asked was a problem. From the moment you step inside your room, the beautiful smell and warm feeling was like a warm hug! The food was top notch and the presentation was second to none. I felt like I was on an episode of MKR.

Location for Mount Tatanaki brilliant. Really huge and comfortable bed, spa bath a nice touch. Access to walks up and around the mountain absolutely superb. Breakfast options were really good value. Staff very friendly.

Bit pushy to get you to book meals. Worst thing was they closed at 9pm which wasn't obvious and they could be quite assertive about ushering you out. Which means you are back in your cabin with no option for a drink.

The onsite restaurant was fabulous and the staff there were extremely kind. The convenience of parking outside was great for unloading/loading the car (in the rain). The rooms had big windows and comfortable beds.

The carpet in our room was a bit stained but our friend’s room was fine. The bathroom didn’t have hooks or a good flat surface to hold toiletries.

The room was beautiful, clean and spacious. The bed was super comfortable and the location was quiet. The bathroom was sparkling clean and had lost of hot water and super water pressure. Great for soothing tired muscles after a day of hiking. The hosts were awesome and gave me great recommendations for hikes. The staff were very friendly and super helpful. The housekeeping staff delayed their work so that I could do a load of laundry before checking out - so appreciative to have clean clothes! I had dinner and breakfast in the wonderful restaurant, both were fabulous - do not miss out on having a meal here! The location inside the park meant that a number of hikes were accessible within a short drive or right outside the hotel - super convenient. The views from the room were gorgeous and the ability to take a quick drive at sunrise up to the mountain was something I will not forget. One night was not long enough!

We had an excellent meal for 2, of rack of lamb and our request for it to be cooked to a specific doneness, was met and we gave our compliments to the chef. The wine recommendation was excellent. An oasis of comfort and lovely food up a mountain!

Disappointed that the views of Mount Taranaki were limited to the outside when facing the motel and in the back terrace area. The greenery surrounding the other areas of the motel obscured any other views.

When arriving room windows were opened so it was very cold, suggested to heat up the room when arriving. Clothes dryer in the room would have been better as we stayed two nights but they've given us new towels. Room heater works very slow so it takes longer to warm up the room

Location perfect for undertaking trail walks and, if you're lucky, a beautiful view of Mt Teranaki behind the lodge. Lovely spacious room in beautiful natural environment.

Unless you have all your own food, eating at the Restaurant is quite expensive but the meals were good. Didn't realise they don't open Monday or Tuesday so, staying Sunday night, there was no breakfast Monday morning. The rooms had huge floor to ceiling sliding doors but the coverings were roller blinds so if you wanted to close the blinds while you were out, you have to navigate a big roller blind as you came back. Very awkward - don't know why they don't have block out curtains instead.

Enjoyed a night stay at this hotel. A lovely setting in the grounds of the National Park. Found the room just a little on the compact side but comfortable. Enjoyed a meal in the restaurant, found all the staff were very friendly and good service given by everyone.

Had trouble finding the hotel. Our Sat Nav sent us down the wrong road and then just terminated saying we had arrived at our destination. Phoned the hotel who gave us the correct directions to the hotel.

Location is amazing and the view is stunning. Staff are friendly and really accommodating. Food was exceptional and well worth waiting all day for. After riding on a motorbike all day and arriving around 6pm, it was so relieving to walk into a warm room that was so nice and clean. Thankyou so much to the team for welcoming us and creating such a relaxing environment that we didn't want to leave. Highly recommended to everyone.

Having to leave and go back to reality.

The food at both dinner and breakfast was very good. Peter, the manager, was very attentive.

Unfortunately there was no hot water available in Room 7 when we arrived. Peter dealt with the issue and it was resolved later in the evening. Peter handled the situation very professionally and we appreciated his gesture. We were disappointed to be located in the ‘annex’ and would have preferred to have been in the main building.
