I love this place and have stayed every year (the last 4 years). Location is in the heart of the town by the lake front, lots of food venues within easy walk and great view of the mountains from the 3rd floor rooms (ask as it not from all the rooms). The rooms are clean with tea, coffee, linen supplied (although most rooms are on the small size we had a bigger than usual room, which I'll ask for next year). Kitchen facilities are nice and big with a lovely seating area overlooking the lake

STAIRS (hope you're fit because you have to lug your suitcases up 2 flights). We travel by car so make sure we only have a small suitcase each

We had 2 walk up 3 flights of steep stairs, to get to our room, bit tricky with luggage. Did not realise this is a back packers, very noisy. When we arrived there was no way to get into reception area, finally reached a young guy on the phone, who let us in, was told no booking for us, then found it after I asked him to double check. We had pre paid, was told no payment received had to show him my visa payment via Internet banking . This is 1st time this has occurred with booking.com. very loud music until 1am. No remote for TV, very hot stuffy room

Haven't stayed in hostel for a long time, initially, I was bit worried about the facilities and perhaps noisy in the night from other younger guests. But it was far better than I thought, (not sure if it was because of winter season). 1) Location, few mins walk from Intercity bus stop; 2) I booked a single room with private bathroom. Room is small but very clean bed, with a nice bathroom. Facing the road but not noisy at all; 3) the staff (Wendy) is very friendly, she helped me with luggage and provided lots local information. She let me feel warm and welcoming. I'd like to stay there again.

Not lift from 2nd to 3rd floor during the time I stayed, was bit hard for me as I had knee issues, but the staff was very helpful, she helped me to take luggage to my room.

Super nice location, just in the street with plenty of shops and bars and restaurants. Just one street from the lake also! The stuff are very nice. The room is big enough to have your space and the bathroom is perfect. They leave little details like shower gel & shampoo, coffee and the. All perfect!

The internet didnt work properly, we had plenty of signal but didnt work. The beds made a lot of noise while you sleep, the fact that we were 3 in the room made it a bit unconfortable. But we enjoyed our stay. Check well the check in times!!! We almost not made it on time!😓

We’ve booked private room for 2 people. We had huge bathroom of the size of our room. Bathroom was clean, nice design. We had window view of the lake! The hostel is really close to lake. it was nice to have tea bags, coffee even hot chocolate included.

there is only one hairdryer for the hostel and it’s not located in public bathroom or common area. you have to ask for it at the reception which was business hours were 9am - 5pm. Once someone borrow hairdryer you have to wait until he returns it without knowing when. I would suggest buying at least 2 more hairdryers or at least putting that one in common area so it would returned soon after using it. Toilets in the corridor were not clean kitchen utensils should be updated

The room was really clean and well presented. It was right in the middle of town so close to everything and a good price. I also had a beautiful view of the lake from my balcony.

Friday and Saturday night I expected it would be a little noisy but it was not too bad. There was just one random Tuesday night it was really noisy. Otherwise a great place to stay for 9 days.

I like the location coz it is near to every restaurant and shops. Very accessible public parking. The room is clean. Linens feels good and clean. Toiletries and in-room electric kettle with coffee and hot choco are prefect. I feel secured with the electronic key card door lock system.

The hotel is also near or should i say next to a club and pub which has a live band. The live band is so freaking loud. Good thing the live band lasts until 12 midnight 😁.

The staff were extremely kind. Have never felt so welcome upon arrival in my life. The room was very clean, the bathroom was lovely and the facilities were very good. Had everything we could ever need for a short stay. Great value for money.

The only issue with this accommodation was the neighbour noise. It's located close to bars that stay open very late, and I was woken up in early hours by a group of very loud partiers that were shouting and screaming on the street. I had all the windows shut, but this didn't help. This, of course, is not the fault of the property. The location is good for everything in Taupo, from activities to walks to food, and if you're able to join in the party, then it's the perfect accommodation, but if you're a tired traveller in need of good sleep and still adjusting from jetlag, it isn't ideal 😅 I would still recommend though!!

We had a nice view of the lake and the room was comfortable and quiet. Much better room and value than Haka Lodge, where we stayed last time we came to Taupo.

It could do with a bit of maintenance work - I had to use a lot of force to close the bathroom window, for example. Be aware that there’s no elevator. We were on the third floor and not bothered by this but it could be a problem if you’re not very mobile.

Nice place. Great location. From the window of my room I can see the park by the lake. It is very clean. The sheet the bathroom and toilet are super clean. The soup and shampoo there using had quite a unique smell.

No elevator. No elevator. No elevator. If you are booking a dom bed, that's fine. They are on the floor 1 where has a lift to the ground floor. And, that's it. However, if you are on the upper floor, It could be really painful. I have to drag my suitcase to the 3rd floor. The stairs are really steep and narrow.
