I loved the curtains for each bed, a plug and a personal light for reading. Never had that before in a hostel, it's the best. The location is not far from the intercity bus stop and the city in general. Laundry is 3$ so cheaper than usual for 50mins, same for the dryer. The common areas are very cozy.

The kitchen gets so gross after people cooking in there, but obviously not the fault of the hostel. The beds were a bit hard..

Conveniently located in Taupo close to Huka Falls and Aratiatia Dam. Good jumping off point for Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Room was big enough for 4 people and luggage. Very small bathroom. Hot, but small shower. Nice that towels and soap were provided. Bedroom and bathroom were clean. Bed, linens, and pillows were comfortable. Good WiFi. Huge kitchen with all the appliances and supplies required to cook a full meal. Surprisingly clean for the amount of use by guests. The staff is so friendly and full of helpful advice.

Before I came into this backpackers, I had a bad experience in a backpackers in Auckland. Some guests were very noisy even after the midnight and the kitchen was always wet with some flies flying around. I couldn't get electricity around my bed which was top of the bunkbed. I was so happy with this accomodation. So calm all nights. I finally slept in peace every day. The lounge, kitchen, bathrooms were all clean. Two fridges that include freezer(I bought a few frozen products during my stay and used the micro wave oven). The self-loudry(washmachine/driyer $4 each) was very helpful.

The closest outlet to my bed somewhat didn't work unfortunately. That's all.

Really enjoyed my stay here, hostel was very social able. Decent number of showers & bathrooms located on each floor. Parking is available if you need it. They have a TV room downstairs & balcony seating area located upstairs. Property was kept clean throughout my stay. Kitchen was quite small, but did the job. Great views of the lake & sunrise/sunset. Only a 2 minute walk to the centre of Taupo and is quiet at night. Wifi was fast.

Great central location, 10 minute walk to the waterfront. I rented a one person room with en-suite bathroom and it was perfect. Clean facilities, nice outdoor space, parking, bikes for rent and kitchen/laundry available

Signs were posted for quiet hours at 10 but walls are very thin (you can hear convos next door) and a group was loud out in the walkway around 1am. The rooms are quite small! Totally fine for one person but no room to hang out inside

It is handy to everything. It is basic backpackers' accommodation but had a TV and ample power points. Bit overpriced for what it offers. Was very noisy till after midnight. The guy in reception is a gem. Lovely manner helpful and profession service that made you feel at home.

Parking for the number of rooms is plainly inadequate. The noise till after midnight. Bed was rather short. Used my sleeping bag and own pillow. Lots of laundry bags stacked near the stairs.

Really like the privacy of curtains on the bunk beds and how sturdy they were. Also the convenience of a plug in each bunk for charging devices safely. lockable cupboards for possessions were good. The hostel had a welcoming and friendly vibe and good for socialising but not too loud late in the night too, so a great balance as a solo traveller. Facilities clean and tidy, cleaned well every morning.

The kitchen was rather small for the amount of guests. So cooking in the evening could be quite stressful and the kitchen at peak times wasn’t overly clean due to high use. laundry facilities were good, however very difficult to get use of due to such limited times and always being busy with guests.

We booked the apartment as we were staying for a week. The apartment was spacious, comfortable and had a fully equipped kitchen. The staff had the heater on for us on arrival which was a nice touch coming from the cold. Fresh towels were provided without needing to ask. It is an ideal location within walking distance to the town and has parking outside.

Some of the cups could have been a bit cleaner and the soundproofing between rooms isn't amazing. But it did keep to the policy of quiet after half 10.

This was my first hostel experience, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Haka Lodge Taupo. The facilities were clean, the bedroom was a good size and I liked the privacy curtain that came with each bunk bed. I also liked that they had on-site parking! The location is perfect, just a short walk into town.

Nothing I can think of! Perhaps as it's now summer time the lack of air con, but we did have 2 fans in our room which was greatly appreciated!

We had a queen studio room with private bathroom and kitchenette. It was spotlessly clean and there was parking right by the door. It was great to have use of the communal facilities to cook complete meals. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was outstanding and the kitchenette had a microwave plus a kettle. Easy walk to the lake and to the shops.

It would have been great if there was a toaster in the room. We had to go upstairs to share the 2 slice toaster in the communal kitchen. Some extra hooks for clothes and towels would be awesome.
