The staff were fantastic, very welcoming & engaging! They were also extremely helpful. In particular, Case the Bar Manager & Max the Reception Manager! The food was fresh & delicious. The King bed was superior quality and extremely comfortable. Rooms well appointed, location & views spectacular. We will definitely return!

The actual threadbare carpet in Unit 4 and the deterioration of the outside wooden balcony, with a shoddy repair. which is a trip hazard. Both of these issues have nothing to do with the exceptional customer service that all the staff provided us. I would strongly recommend to the company that owns Hotel Hawea, that these repairs & refurbishments receive immediate attention. I feel that guests may not return due to these issues.

The view was really incredible and the room was pretty comfortable. The food in the hotel restaurant was quite good. Nice bar, with good atmosphere. A short walk up the road to another little cafe and store was convenient and the food there was also very good. Access to trails and the beach was very close by and they had bikes we could use for free. Very nice. Staff was great.

The room was smaller than expected and there was a strange citrus/floral smell that took a bit of getting used to. We were told there is no room service, which is indicated on the description, but it's a short walk across the lot to get something from the restaurant. This hotel is on a hill right on a "busy" road with a blind curve, so, though it kind of appears that you can just walk down to the lake, you can't. You have several blocks to get to a beach to enjoy the lake.

The views and the split level accommodation as well as having the restaurant on site. The most delicious rib eye steak!

No air con. We had two fans in our accommodation, one for upstairs and one for downstairs but one of them didn’t work. One of the restaurant staff members kindly looked for another one for us but there were no spares. One of the cleaners found us one for the second night from a different room - thank you. Also only 3 chairs for sitting on the balcony when there was 4 of us. Nothing major, we would stay again if in the area.

The view from the room was exceptional! There was an uninterupted view of the lake which was stunning. The staff were very friendly and polite (especailly the young man on reception). This makes a big difference to the feel of the place. There was a free voucher for a drink at the resturant which was good. The location is great for access to lake front and also ample off street parking. There was good heating in the room, including an electric blanket on the bed. Lake Hāwea is such a beautiful spot that doesn't have the touristy feel of Wānaka. I would absolutely stay here again and book the lake front unit again.

The room was comfortable but is starting to need some money spent on it to keep it looking fresh: the carpet is worn and the desk/balcony area needs restaining.

The Hawea hotel surprised us in terms of the view from the room. It's a quaint little hotel in a sleepy town with gorgeous view that cannot be described in words or captured on a camera. It overlooks the Hawea lake with a mountain backdrop. The restaurant is also pretty amazing with good food options and a view that makes eating there a pleasure in itself. Will highly recommended it.

With the view and rooms it offers I wouldnt have noticed anything else that would bother me

We were given a room overlooking the lake and surrounding mountains. It was stunning. The room was quite spacious with all the trimmings. The bed was very comfortable. Our hosts were really helpful and courteous. The restaurant menu was great and reasonably priced with a good wine list. Staff were exceptional. We will return again given the opportunity.

Nothing really and they are trying hard to update some of the older areas.

There was a separate bar with a pool table, which was free to use the night we arrived. They put up the All Blacks match live on the big screens early the next morning, while we had breakfast. Dinner in the restaurant next door on Saturday night was excellent.

The room we were in was getting a bit tired, but we understood the rooms in that block were the last ones in line to be renovated and that should be completed by now. Look forward to checking them out again next time we stay!

Beautiful view over the lake; with snowcapped mountains behind. The room was very well appointed, clean and comfortable. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise, with a quite varied menu and good selection of wines. The food was excellent, and the service was very efficient. The hotel was unable to offer breakfast however were happy to give us information regarding the local cafe which had a breakfast service.

The external balcony was in need of a little maintenance/refurbishment.

Excellent spot right across the road from the lake, superb views from both levels. Great to have a seperate mezzanine level with two beds for the kids, note there are no doors separating the areas so it’s kind of open plan, but that suited us fine. Our meal at the restaurant was great too, they happily catered for our son with severe food allergies.

Would have been good to have a toaster in the room to be able to do our own breakfast in the morning. But otherwise the room was perfect.

Great view from the room. the restaurant manager was really helpful. plenty of parking.

hotel looked understaffed as I had to walk up to restaurant for room service. but restaurant manager was very helpful. the Coffee machine was broken. being at a remote location and being a hotel, it was not nice to see specially after returning late from day trips. the bathroom door needs repair as it looked old n dated, the privacy lock didn’t work and door didn’t close properly. the rooms need a little more white light as it gets really dark and the single light is not enough
