location, breakfast, laundry service

everything was fine, except for an incident. most guests of the hotel are mid aged white couples. dinning room staff racially profiled me and assumed that i was an intruder. no apologies.

From the warm welcome at the front desk, to the quick response to any request, the staff at this hotel went out of their way to be pleasant, helpful and responsive. The accommodations were clean, comfortable and very functional. The breakfast was outstanding and the restaurant staff, like elsewhere, were terrific.

Rooms were lacking any dressers or drawers/ shelves in the closets for storing clothes during extended stays. Similarly, there were was no shelves/ drawers in the bathroom for toiletries. Finally, like most other hotels in Oslo, there was no A/C but windows opened and fans were provided upon request.

The trams passing through the front of the hotel and nearby streets had been suspended. We wish there had been some notice posted on the hotel site or at the front desk. We had counted on using the transit stops nearby to get to places quickly and easily in the city and had bought the city pass for it. But we only learned about the suspension after we inquired about it.

The breakfast was a veritable feast with so much choice, from breakfast healthy shot drinks, fresh smoothies, juice and a huge selection of hot and cold options to choose from. The staff at every point were so friendly, chatty and a pleasure to deal with. The location was excellent with a tram stop practically right outside the hotel which was a bonus when travelling with bags to/from Central Station. I hadn't realised that there was a gym but this is a bonus for any accommodation to offer. If coming to Oslo again then I would definitely look to book this hotel again. The hotel also offered an excellent lounge facility where you could go and relax, enjoy a tea/coffee and still/sparkling water on tap. This was a welcome additional facility to be able to refill a water bottle or have a relaxing sit down in a lovely environment as opposed to sitting solely in your hotel room.

This is not the fault of the hotel, so I feel bad mentioning it, but if you do not like noise, then you would definitely need to request a room that does not front onto the street with the two bars outside the hotel. The bars don't close until late night (think 3.30 am) and every night of our 4-night stay we were woken by the merriment at the hostelries. As I would like to reiterate this is not the hotels' fault, but if you are noise sensitive and I am not particularly, so it was pretty loud every night that I was woken and the windows were fully shut and of good quality, then so as not to have your stay in this fab location marred by the noise, I would ensure you ask for a room not fronting the street with the pubs on them!

Everything was excellent. We arrived in the morning and the hotel was able to get us into a room well before the check-in time of 3 pm. The room was super - clean, attractive, comfortable, everything that was needed. We faced the street (we asked for that, even though we had the option of a room facing the back) and there was some noise from the Jazz Club across the way until 2 am (Oslo Jazz Festival was on)- but this did not bother us too much. The staff were super friendly, effusively helpful in the breakfast room. The hotel is very conveniently located - we could walk everywhere in the city. When we left we took the Fyltoget train to the airport from the National Theater train stop, a 10-min walk from the hotel).

Nothing - everything was good. I would stay here again without hesitation.

We had a wonderful stay here. Staff were.super friendly and professional!. Our room was comfortable and quiet with a nice bathroom and shower. We asked for suggestions for dining and the staff recommended 2 great places where we had delicious dinners. The breakfast buffet was superb both in terms of variety and quality of food served. Easily the best breakfast we"ve ever had. Breakfast staff were especially nice. We will stay here again! I definitely recommend this hotel. We also loved the lounge on the 8th floor where you can relax and enjoy complimentary coffee.

Rooms were not very big but had everything we needed.

Clean room and renovated bathroom. Windows can be opened so you get fresh air in the room. Very helpfull and friendly staff. Felt safe as a solo traveler. Good breakfast with gluten free and lactose free options. Good location, ca 10 min walking to main train station and close to tram and bus stops. Lounge room on the 8th floor with good quality coffee and water cooler to refill your water bottles.

The ventilation system could not be turned off, felt cold some days. My room was facing the front street. Nice view but it can get noisy from the pubs that are close to the hotel. I did not mind but if you are a light sleeper ask for a room in the back of the hotel.

The staff at the reception were very kind, helpful, etc. We were travelling as family with 9 persons, 3 of them are over 75 years old and they had very often special request, which was wounderful handled by the staff. The breakfast was outstanding. The freshness and the variety of food was remarkable. The staff was as well very responsive. The location was good it was close to the city centre. Bars, restaurant and a supermarket are close by. It could get noisy in the night if you have a room faced to the streets with the bars. But it does not bother us at all.

Thon Rosenkrantz Hotel Oslo is a class act. Marie who greeted us at the front desk our first day was great throughout the visit! Victoria spoke with us on our third afternoon there and was super helpful, and went far beyond what must be in her job description. Their breakfast was awarded Oslo's best and we must agree. Hotel is centrally located and everything in central Oslo is an easy walk. We flew in and took the Bussair to the hotel which dropped us off a block away. Took the local train back to the airport and it was great. We loved the class act hotel and Oslo!!

It was a fantastic place!!

Positive: Pleasant, happy and helpful staff. Luxury breakfast with lots of variety, worth the money. The location is optimal. Clean and modern hotel. Nice view towards the street. Full of restaurants and shops nearby. Umbrella and iron in the rooms. Good sound insulation. Functional bathroom with good drainage. Check traffic in and out of the hotel. Quiet hotel with higher class customers.

Negative: Uncomfortable pillows. Poor TV channels. The air conditioning was there but could not be controlled from the room. The car park could be cheaper than 550 NOK/day because it is almost inaccessible and they have to pick up and drop off by staff. Exhaust smell all over Oslo, unclean air compared to Sweden. You may need earplugs if you are sensitive to noise from the restaurants.
