The food was amazing. We had breakfast each morning, freshly cooked, a la carte menu, not buffet style. We also had dinner one night. Good choice of cuisines and especially seafood dishes. Our room was clean and comfortable, with tea & coffee making facilities plenty of clothes hangers and a good size shower room. The French windows directly onto the shared balcony was a lovely touch and we could enjoy beautiful views from there over the marina and out to th water.

The bed could be more comfortable, neither of us slept perfectly and my husband woke up sore each morning. There was no hairdryer in the room, we had to ask for one & it took quite awhile for one to be found in another room! They didn't have gluten-free bread available on the first morning, even though I'd requested gluten-free options when booking, and some of the staff didn't seem to know the difference between a gluten intolerance and being vegan!

I am a cleaner and my ocd got the better of me , I think the staff are always so busy that things get overlooked and rushed, when we arrived we sat at a very sticky messy table so we moved, tin our Room it was dusty and a tad tired in areas and the carpet felt a tad dirty, if they have a cleaning team I would sack them, but I get the feeling the owners do it themselves and because of how busy they are I feel things get rushed and overlooked, but I can’t stress enough the bed and bedding was spotless and a good amount of tea coffee ect in the rooms.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. They were also very friendly to our dog and made him feel welcome as well as us. The breakfast choice was good and our breakfasts were great.

Our room was perfect for what we needed but there was no temperature control which made the room a bit warm for us. The TV had a fault and the the shower water drained away so slowly we had to take a quick shower to stow the water over flowing. We reported this to the staff who were apologetic and said the issues would be dealt with urgently.

I recently stayed at The Victory with friends and family in multiple rooms the night before my wedding in Mersea. The staff blew us away with how friendly and supportive they were! They went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay and I am so grateful to them for how kind and helpful they all were! Amazing rooms, in a great location, everything you need for a quiet peaceful stay. Breakfast was amazing and there is not a single thing I could fault. Thank you everyone from The Victory for making up a part of my wedding and being one less thing to worry about!

Huge suite with separate room for the kids which was great. Awesome play area outside too. Free parking. The food was delicious, massive portions. We had dinner there which was delicious. Breakfast was piping hot and huge. Quick service and all the staff couldn’t do more for you. They recommended other places to go around the island and we had a great time.

Bed squeaky and strange noise from boiler cupboard throughout but it didn’t effect our stay, only a minor annoyance.

Staff all staff polite professional! Nothing was to much trouble. Attentive and nice to see staff happy and enthusiastic in their job ! Breakfast 3 days running was 10/10 and quick . Everywhere spotless ! View can’t beat and everywhere clean .rooms decorated nice n bed lined white bright n beds really comfortable. Paid a lot more per night in other hotels for lot more money and they don’t come near to the victory !

There is nothing I didn’t like

Beautifully presented room and en-suite leading onto shared pebbled courtyard. Fab location behind sea/riverfront pub. Room lovely and clean. Breakfast taken outside was very high quality and as good as we have had in any B&B.

I think the shared courtyard can be used by guests with dogs and unfortunately one had paid a visit and left a deposit pretty much outside our door! Appreciate this cannot be helped but generally the courtyard was a bit shabby and unloved and deserves a bit more care and attention to bring it in line with the quality of the room. We were in a downstairs room and there was a fair bit of noise from the upstairs occupants as I don’t think there’s any carpet upstairs, and when they were repeatedly climbing the staircase.

We stayed in the family suite for 1 night to attend a wedding nearby, it was a great layout with good sized double on ground floor which opened onto a shared courtyard area with tables. The ground floor also had a shower room with a good shower with plenty of hot water. Upstairs was a small twin room which would be great for children. The courtyard is next to the pub’s play area which would be very convenient. Breakfast was included and was very tasty and generous, we also had a lunch there which was also very good. All staff we met were really helpful and welcoming and accommodated us arriving a bit earlier than check in as we needed to attend the wedding. The location is also great overlooking the water with boats nearby, definitely worth staying for longer if in the area. I thought it was great value given the standard of accommodation and location.

We had a brilliant stay at The Victory. We went with our dog and the staff were great with her! They were so friendly and accommodating, and we felt so welcome straight away. The rooms were lovely, clean, and spacious, and the location was great for walks along the beach! We would recommend this place to anyone and are definitely going to be coming back!

Great location. Clean and comfortable rooms at the back of the property so we were seperate from the main building which made our stay quiet. Great breakfast with good variety on offer.

The pub itself was empty and had no atmosphere and closed at 9.30pm. The shower in our room didn't drain and so overflowed onto the floor, such a shame because the shower itself was fabulous.
