Great hotel

A new phone power bank and USD $500 cash went missing from the room. We take responsibility, however, as there are clear warnings around the hotel that valuables should be kept in the safe provided.

In my list, this hotel is among the best 3 hotels I have ever been to. I am a traveller and has been in many hotels all over the world but I have no doubt that the Commodore is one of the best

Probably the breakfast team staff, some of them are very good but I think some of them need to loosen a bit and be accessible and be fun to be around. I am.not sure whether those that were moody (2 ) had bad mornings or it was just me. But they must know that they are the face of the hotel

The location is very good and very safe. You have to walk a little bit to V&A waterfront like 5-10 minutes. Breakfast is superb, they also have steak for hot plate The hotel staff is very nice and friendly. They help me to find the van I waited for local tour and very friendly with my daughter. The family room is spacious enough and they already additional extra little bed for my daughter and she's really like it I recommend this hotel as it's good value for the price and would like to stay again if I come back.

No Supermarket nearby. You have to walk to V&A waterfront to buy it, but it's not too far. The delayed of hotel staff to reply email.

Thank you for allowing a very early check in, it really was appreciated by tired travellers, The restaurant was great, both for breakfast and evening dining. The bar area was busy and had a good atmosphere. The room size was good. The location was good, but it did take some time to find our bearings. It would be better if the hotel provided more information on this.

Noisy Aircon Overall service fell below expectation. For example I asked for additional tea/milk as Partner was unwell and asked for the room not to be serviced. For some reason this simple request was not supplied. We also had to chase getting our laundry returned to our room. Hand soap was not provided on day 1. We had to ask for seat covers for the pool area, so overall the service lacked what we would expect in a hotel of this nature.

The location was perfect. The hotel was clean and our room (mini suite) was well appointed, comfortable.

Although the internet is ‘advertised’ as unlimited access, when we checked in with reception it seems they cap it! I didn’t use it much as we were on excursions most of the time so I was perplexed how I kept running out of data. You have to go to reception and ask them for more data. I don’t understand why they cap it. Although the hotel is clean, staff friendly etc. it does feel that everything is done on a tight budget. I appreciate this is business, however as a customer I don’t want to feel this especially as we paid £650 for a 3 nights stay!

Very good strategic location for visiting Cape Town. Waterfront is 5 minutes walk and it is safe here to walk back at night to the hotel. We had the executive room at the 6th floor with a magnificent view at Table Mountain and the marina. Rooms are very clean and the bed are fine. Staff is very friendly and works hard to give you a good stay. The bar can be a bit busy in the evening, but you will always find a nice spot to sit and chat with each other and drink some wine or beer. The breakfast is very good. There is an egg station, fruit, bread, yoghurt. Because we had a late flight, we could use the changing room and shower in the gym. This was very clean and comfortable.

The only thing that needs a quick update is the airconditioning in the rooms. It is very noisy and you will not be able to sleep with the airco on unless you use earplugs. (:) Other option is to open the balcony door, but with some wind this is not possible.

I have stayed at the Commodore 8 or 9 times so I know it will always be a great place to be based in Cape Town. It is the best value for money hotel in the V&A Waterfront - maybe not as plush as some others but much better value for money. Lovely breakfasts.

Given I have stayed here so many times I was a little surprised by the consistency of great customer service in the lounge and breakfast room. It was so dependent on who served us - either a 10 or there were a few who were not really engaged and service was slow - I would rate these people 4 out of 10 which was a bit of a shame.

Location is fantastic for the Waterfront and all the wonderful things there, just a short and very safe walk. Room was a good size with all of expected facilities. Parking under the hotel is both safe and good vale for the area. As I was only there for one night I did not use the restaurant but the bar service was speedy and friendly. No load shedding problems, except socket outlets do not work when generator is running.

Staff were very loud in the corridor in the morning and all doors seem to slam hard when closed, I dont know if this is the doors or the operators ! Noise from generators can also be a bit distracting and a slight smell of diesel fumes in the room.

Breakfast was a wonderful plus. The selection was beyond expectations. So many choices! The staff was so accommodating . My husband had serious mobility problems.. your facility made everything so accessible .

The pool area should have higher tables and or chairs for older or disabled guests who have difficulties rising from low seating like the usual loungers. Also, it would be nice to order drinks from bar and charge to the room.. I was informed I had to have made arrangements with the front desk??

I liked it somehow. It isn’t very modern, but its age gives it some special charm. Location is great - five minutes walking to the waterfront. Parking, breakfast, staff kindness - everything you need for a good stay. It even had plenty of toiletries and bathrobes, which isn’t that common for a four-star. I enjoyed the bath and really strong water pressure in the shower.

A bit of noice from some infrastructural equipment outside. And when windy, the walls were literally shaking.
