The Hawthorn is a beautiful gem. We loved the way they incorporated modern and old decor. it is very tastefully done. The gardens are beautiful and well kept. Although the hotel is in a neighbourhood, it felt like you're far away from everything. I would love to stay there again. We also loved the restaurant on site.

There was nothing we didn't like.

We loved the stylish interior - all the way from reception, to the bar, through communal areas and to our cosy studio unit. The bedroom and lounge are conveniently separate. The kitchenette is just perfect with a small fridge and tea/coffee making facilities, and everything you need if you prefer to have room service in your studio. The view from the veranda/passage along the front doors is pleasantly green. There are beautiful trees and plenty of birdlife. But what we loved most as exhausted travellers, was the fact that we did not have to drive to a restaurant. We dined at the hotel's restaurant, and were happy with the menu - we eat free-range meat or vegetarian cuisine only.

Everything was so lovely, just one strange inconvenience. The studio bedroom's ceiling lights and both bedside lamps were on a single light switch at the door. You have to get out of bed to switch bed lamps off; there is no option for one guest to read in bed, and another to sleep, as both bed lamps have to be either on or off. We stayed for one night; more nights and this would have been very annoying.

Great interior design interplay between new and old with lovely travel theme touches throughout. Lux touches of bubbly on arrival, and others on turn down service. Great breakfast, comfortable room and luxury sanitary products.

Would be great if breakfast can start at 6:30 to avoid rushing if you're on the 08:40 flight out. There is a beautiful fire place in the restaurant and it would have been great if it was lit for breakfast on the cold morning I was there.

Impressed by the look of the hotel on the outside and especially on the inside, the gardens and the peacocks. The staff was very helpful. I really tried to find something wrong but exceeded my expectation.

When we came back late the gate was closed and no number on the gate for reception to open. Did have the number on my mail, could help if there is a number or intercom working

This was a lovely hotel, beautifully renovated with friendly very helpful staff. Our original room was lovely, but over looked the car park. The staff were very helpful finding us a room with a better outlook, which turned out to be a cheaper and overlooked the pool. The restaurant had a good menu and the food was tasty and well cooked

Modern, clean, well-appointed rooms and common areas. Friendly, helpful staff. Quiet location.

No shower door, water splashes everywhere. Open bathroom, no privacy when using toilet as it is visible through the glass doors, some frosting is necesary on the lower 2 panels to obscure. Auto-sensor lights in bathroom can wake your partner up if you go to the toilet in the middle of the night because there is only glass separating the room from the bathroom. Sensor also doesn't pick you up when in the shower, so light turned off and I was left showering in the dark. Cheaper standard rooms seem to be better if this is an issue for you, bathroom is separated by a wall.

The main building is rather stunning, with beautiful gardens and a great swimming pool to match. The dining area was first class with a beautiful view of the gardens. There is a wonderful reading room and a very fancy bar area too. Upon arrival we enjoyed the hotel and grounds so much, we simply stayed there till we left the next morning. Absolute gem of a boutique hotel. highly recommended!

The thought of leaving one’s home to rest somewhere new and unknown is daunting for some of us. Being welcomed to a home-away-from-home is seldomly realistic, unless of course you arrive at Hawthorn. We were welcomed, showed around and made very comfortable from the moment we arrived The owners attention to making a living space that is homely, tranquil and removed from the hustle and bustle is spot-on. During our short stay, we ventured out once only but to realise we actually wanted to be back at the hotel sooner than later. We much rather enjoyed our “couple” time there than venturing around. There are rooms and spaces for every need, wining, afternoon tea, sun room, lounge and pause areas. If you want a rest and a pause, in a beautiful setting, the Hawthorn is my place to reset.

Being a brand new hotel, small things like menu for the B&B allows choice of one breakfast item, but walk-ins have a selection of other breakfast item. We opted paying for the very interesting and tasteful breakfasts on both mornings. Hopefully as bookings go up the menu will be adjusted. Hook in the shower for face clothes will be nice.

Decor, gardens and food was amazing not to mention the lovely staff !! Certainly a place to stay when you’re in George it’s an absolute delight !

Beds or mattresses were very firm / hard and not so comfortable. Some rooms don’t have bathroom doors which is a No !

We express our gratitude to the staff of the hotel. I would like to note that everyone is very friendly and polite, so an atmosphere of good rest and good mood is created. Excellent hotel. Everything is clean, comfortable and tastefully done. Nice design, new furniture, snow-white fluffy towels. The staff is polite and friendly. There were no complaints about cleaning. They are such hard workers - they clean and wash something all day long. It's so nice to return to clean rooms. The hotel administrators are very polite - it's always a pleasure to contact them for any request. We really liked this hotel. Comfort and cleanliness. I want to write separately about the owners. They are amazing people! They were interested in what our problems were, showed attention and care, around the clock. Very nice people! They do a lot to make your stay special. Therefore, I first of all liked the caring attitude towards each client. This is from the moment of the meeting - compliments in the room, tea / coffee / water. I liked the location of the hotel - not far from the center by taxi / car and inexpensive. Beautiful. Grace. Nice restaurant, delicious food (dined several times). Breakfast is excellent. We had a hearty breakfast. Thank you very much for the cleanliness, comfort and pleasant communication, and warm attitude.♥️
