It’s a beautiful property in the heart of Prince Alfred that is well maintained and centrally located.

Our room backed onto the staff area and that could get a bit noisy at times with staff speaking to each other out back. The rest was really awesome.

The breakfast service is fantastic, with so many options and delicious coffee. The gin bar is a fantastic dinner spot as well. We stayed in a garden cottage for 2 nights, and the adjoining rondawels were lovely. The staff are all very helpful. The hotel has a spa that my daughter used for a treatment, and they are very welcoming and professional. There are so many lovely little spaces in the hotel including a deli, reading room, ladies bar, pool area, spa, coffee shop and curio shop.

The evening meal in the dining room was disappointing. We have stayed there before and eaten at the hotel. My husband ordered the chicken Alfredo pasta dish. It was dry, basically a bowl of pasta with chicken strips on top. My husband kept quiet so as not to spoil our evening. Burger at lunch was also undercooked. The last time we visited we really enjoyed the dinner and had really looked forward to eating at the hotel again. R25 for a bottle of sparkling water is also very expensive. We would stay at the hotel again, but consider other options for dinner.

Very spacious room with the balcony overlooking the Main Street of Prince Albert. The bathroom also well equipped and spacious. Safe parking space and a beautiful swimming pool. The dinner was great and a good selection of wines are on the menu. Breakfast offered all what we wanted.

One should know that this exclusive room is on the first floor. As a consequence one has to accept steep stairs. As that is mentioned on the website it should be not a problem. As we always travel with light luggage we could enjoy all the plus points of this location

First the good stuff, the staff are excellent, very friendly and polite wonderful. The pool area is very nice and comfortable.

I had the luxury room which was very dark with very little natural light. The terrace was not really comfortable to sit in. The room was made up, but the coffee was not replenished the next day and the towels were not fully replenished. They also did not replenish the bathroom shower and shampoo. I also did not have the mosquito mats replenished so had to buy my own.

Charming hotel! The staff are absolutely exceptional - nothing too much trouble for them! Delicious food - we had dinner and breakfast. The Gin Bar was great, Coffee Shop and a gift shop selling beautiful jewellery, toys, cheeses, olives & oils, etc most locally produced. Bought quite a selection as gifts. Secure parking at the back of the hotel overnight. Fireplaces burning and we spent time reading in the ladies bar in front of fire. So relaxing! Thanks to all the staff that made our stay so enjoyable. We will be back soon!

This is just such a charming old school hotel. Not a chain, where the unique character of the establishment is fantastic. Recently under new ownership / management, the facilities have been upgraded and the whole experience just gets better and better. We have stayed at the Swartberg Hotel many times and it just gets better and better.

Nothing not to like. The bar area is also super with a great atmosphere where one can just enjoy the old school charm of a well put together hotel.

The ambiance and history of the old building and all the nookies and crannies available in the hotel. The swimming pool area was wonderful in the evening of arrival with the wind to keep us cool. Although the small restaurant was fully booked the Hotel staff were wonderful to provide advice on alternative areas where we could enjoy the same hotel's restaurant food which was delicious! The fishing dish was devine for which we thank all the staff in the hotel. Very very friendly and welcoming all of them which was a treasure in itself. Soo Well Done to all of you.

Amazing little Karoo town. Everything was exceptional and we had a great stay and experience in Prince Albert. The breakfast was excellent and it really is great value for money.

There was a mix up with my booking, but the hotel staff arranged accomodation at the nearby guesthouse in no time at all. This was a bit unprofessional, but at least the hotel staff sorted it out without any issues or problems.

This is a little gem in the middle of the Karoo. I can not fault the Swartberg Hotel with anything. Service on arrival was amazing, friendly and reception so helpful. Our room was clean and spacious. We are cat lovers, and the Hotel cats a treat to have around the room area. The supper at the Gin bar was tops, the gin even better. Well done team, and keep doing what you doing. It's perfect. The best overnight stayed we have ever experienced in SA.
