The location is perfect, just a few steps away from Plaza del Ayuntamiento, and very close to a ton of shops, restaurants, cafés, museums and other places of interest, as well as buses and metro for transportation. Although the hotel floor and reception area were in heavy relifting during my stay, I didn't experience any discomfort because of the work. The breakfast was as copious as it was good, and a special mention to the kindness and efficiency of the staff who helped me manage the theft of my wallet (beware of pickpockets at the grand market nearby!). The corner room was quiet, spacious and well-equipped. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I had no problem sleeping like a baby.

It's really to complain about something: the wifi speed in the hotel was really not that great.

Excellent location, near the main square and all the places of interest that we wanted to visit. The reception staff was very helpful, especially Luca. The room was relatively spacious for a triple. Very good mattresses, linens and towels. Easy to use safe.

There was very little room to sit comfortably at the desk when I had to work. The two main aspects that could be improved have to do with the cleaning staff and the room temperature. While the maids were really helpful, we noticed that they did not appear to hover or at least sweep the bedroom floor. As for the room, the only way to cool this centrally heated room down was by opening both the outer and the inner set of windows, which is not an a viable solution in a central location near bars and restaurants (the noise levels and the smell of food were a bother ONLY when we had the windows open). Aside from these issues, we had a great time and will probably return to this hotel if visiting Valencia again.

The location was excellent for exploring the city to see all the main parts and links to the metro. The staff were very helpful with all questions and very friendly. The breakfast had a range of options with wonderful freshly squeezed Valencia oranges.

The room I stayed in was small and the bathroom facilities were simple. For a 4 star hotel ,at the price per night, I would expect tea and coffee making facilities in the room as a basic. It was clean but quality of linen and towels could be better.

I have never stayed at a hotel with cleaner rooms than Catalonia Excelsior. We had a spacious corner room with soft and fluffy beds. The shower was amazing. Air conditioning in the room was simple to understand and worked really well. Staff were welcoming and friendly. It has 2 elevators which are extremely handy when carrying luggage. Breakfast was multi-national. There were multiple types of milk, hot breakfast foods, a variety of juices, a cold counter with cold meats and fruits, a customisable granola section and a multi-lingual coffee machine. It was well worth the price and we didn't have to worry about our morning meal. We had dinner in the in-hotel restaurant one night. It was spectacular with an incredible menu.

We had to pay upon arrival, which makes sense due to exchange rates I guess, but we would have preferred to pay before arrival for peace of mind.

The location is great, right in the city centre, walking distance to the central market, main shopping area, ceramic museum, etc. Breakfast is perfect and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are spacious and modern. The bed is big and comfy. There is coffee machine in the room and water supplies. The shower is great.

I did the booking via Booking.com and have in my profile set as preferred room 'non-smoking'. We arrived at 1am and the hotel gave us a room in the 5th floor that is for smoking rooms. We did not realise and felt immediately that it was a bad odour from the toilet, however we went to sleep as it was late and were tired from the trip. The odour was not only from the toilet but also from smoking. The next day we asked for a non-smoking room and the staff was able to provide another room in the second floor which was perfect; no bad odours. They were really helpful. My lesson learned is that I will write from now on, in every booking, that I don’t want smoking rooms to make sure I don’t have this issue again.

The staff was great and very helpful. I was just generally happy that it was so safe and comfortable also for my cat. And the location is incredible. Should I return to Valencia, I’d definitely stay there again and will recommend the hotel to friends and family.

A water bottle broke in my bedroom as it had slipped out of my hand. Although the staff came up to the room immediately to clean it, it wasn’t done well at all at night and also the next day. I didn’t want to complain as it was late, but it was unsafe and felt irresponsible and inattentive. Especially with a pet ( as they lick their paws and play with any object - Kitty played with pieces under the bed until I realised) I have still seen glass in the room when I left. Make sure to do a proper clean in room 106 under the bed and around the curtains. I bet there’s still glass.

Stayed for a few days in a very hot July - greeted by friendly staff on the front desk with a swift check in. The room was average sized, no overly small but not huge either. Nice big double bed, comfortable pillows, very good TV though sadly lacking connections to the wi-fi to allow you to cast your device - shame. The window looked out onto a back alleyway but it was interesting to watch the people come and go and get an idea of the temperature from here. The bathroom was a decent sized with a nice shower. Shampoo and shower gel available on the wall - nice. Only think missing in the room really was an iron/ironing board though to be fair I never asked at reception if they had one. Location wise it's perfect - you are a few steps away from a host of bars and restaurants. The main square and the big market are under 5 minutes stroll away. Valencia is relatively small and from this hotel you can reach most things. Special mention to the excellent, ice cold air conditioning !

Please allow the TV to cast devices - this would be a huge plus. The adjoining restaurant is a very expensive for what it is - 18 euro for a breakfast. No thanks!

Conveniently located off the main square, with easy access to the historic part of the city. The room was very comfortable, clean and well appointed. The bathroom was excellent with a good range of complimentary toiletries and thoughtful extras. From the moment we arrived we were made welcome by the friendly and helpful reception staff who took time to tell us about the notable places to visit during our stay and provided some very good recommendations. The hotel restaurant was also exceptional, delicious food and excellent service.

The hotel is ideally situated as a base for exploring Valencia's old town and its attractions with its numerous bars and restaurants. Staff were polite, helpful and efficient. We were on an early flight so arrived in the city well before the 3pm check - in time. Our bags were stored and when we did finally check - in they were already in the room.

The hotel was being refurbished during our stay. Our room was on the 5th floor. The decor and fittings were a bit "tired" though the room itself was a good size, comfortable and clean. I expect this will be addressed when the refurb is complete. Breakfast choices were extensive but at busy times the restaurant room is not really big enough. We had to queue for 20 minutes on our last day to get a table.

As a solo traveller i found the location to be great. Felt safe. Surrounded by wonderful and easy to reach places, really good placement close to the old town. Also, the room was great, clean, great size for a single person, grateful that they gave me a double bed. the hotel itself is really nice and the breakfast (though very expensive) was very good

On the first day of my arrival, I cannot say that the lady at reception was the friendliest :) but overall the staff was courteous and nice. They had construction on the hallway where I was staying and it was intense for a few long hours (fair enough, during the day but still). it would have been a good idea to warn me ahead of time so that I can plan my day outside of the room.
