The hostel is right in the middle of the old town (Gamla Stan) within walking distance of all the sights. Although the reception is only open for part of the day, the staff are very welcoming and happy to share tips, and they made sure that checking in outside of office hours was very smooth and easy. Also, they were happy for me to leave some luggage at the hostel when I left Stockholm for a few days. It is definitely not a party hostel and can get pretty quiet in the evening, but it is social enough for my liking. Kitchen is clean and has everything you need.

There are not that many showers (although I never had to wait for one), and there are only sinks in the toilets (and very tiny ones at the showers, so there it not really a logical place to shave or brush your teeth.

Here is the clearly best hostel in Stockholm! Location is best of the best. You don’t need to use transportation cause everywhere is in walking distance. Middle of the stylish cafes/restaurants,supermarket, touristic attractions… All reception staff is really friendly. They always smile and doing their best to make your stay unforgettable! I stayed in 16 beds dormitory and room was really large. I could watch the stunning backyard view from my bed. They also let you use luggage storage for free. Kitchen and toilets are clean like your home. I’ll recommend this place everyone who planning to come Stockholm!

The location is perfect, the staff is super friendly and helpful! I strongly recommend this one to live when come to Stockholm, will definetly book this again when I visit next time!!

Great location, near all touristic areas + welcoming staff. If you look a quiet place to rest, this hostel will be perfect.

Microwave and the stove top/cooker didn’t work so I wasn’t able to reheat my dish + you have to pay extra if you want sheets and a towel.

Friendly and helpful staff, clean room, well-equipped kitchen, and the best location. My favourite part was the common area where I met a lot of amazing people!:) I would choose Castanea again

We loved our room... the building is full of character and the rooms are sympathetic to this. Our room was light and airy and really warm. Beds were comfy and good amount of shelving/storage. The staff were really friendly. The cafe attached was great for breakfast.

We were unlucky to have a group next door to us who were quite noisy until late/through the night. There isn't anybody on reception 24hrs so this went unnoticed. The kitchen area was quite messy and we didn't use it for this reason.

We are muslim family with small children. The location is fantastic. Very near to cafe, souvenirs shops and 5min walk to metro. Do not worry about sharing toilet or shower room. It is very clean and privacy. Not a problem at all. The kitchen also well equipped. The staff also vey helpful. You can store your luggage after check out and they let you use the toilet/ shower room and even the common area when you pick the luggage. Very thoughtful since we travelling with children.

The position is awesome, the hostel is in the heart of the old city, the kitchen is very nice and cleen and with everything you need for the dinner and the breakfast, the common sale is cozy with many games and puzzle. I appreciate so much the book with the tips for restaurant and places to visit. My stay was very pleasant and i thing i would come back. I miss Stockholm already, we see soon. (visit in January in double room)

Everything ok

The Hostel is conveniently located in a charming building in the Old Town with all its wonderful attractions. The single bedroom had a peaceful outlook, the bed was very comfortable and all the general facilities (showers, toilets, kitchen & lounge room) were kept clean. It was very easy to connect with other tourists, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I look forward to returning again.

no complaints but black-out drapes in the bedroom would make it even better.

Superb location in the heart of Gamla Stan - 3 minute walk to the main plaza Stortorget. You can have the whole plaza (and Gamla Stan!) to yourself in the early morning or late night; 8 min walk to Gamla Stan Subway Station. The hostel has two common spaces with lots of tables and seating. Nice kitchen with stove, frig. Friendly, helpful staff as well. Bathrooms are soooo clean!! My roomies were great, too; fun and considerate. Definitely one of my favorite places I stayed at during my one month traveling in Scandinavia. (p.s. The other one is Giljanes Hostel in the Faroe Islands!).
