Beautiful hotel set up from the lake side (1.5km walk to lake) Old School Italian Excellence. Helpful friendly staff. Wonderful restaurant overlooking the lake. Very clean. 5 star luxury

We booked a junior suite which was lovely overlooking the garden. The only negative was we were given a disabled access room. Which was okay but the shower was very small with a shower curtain, long handled tap and chair, this made the cubicle very small indeed. The curtain was no good and the floor ended up wet through. This is a minor inconvenience but none the less, when being issued with a disabled access room you should be informed

The view from the hotel's main garden terrace is stunning and the food and drink options were excellent, including their Michelin-starred restaurant. The breakfast was good, with very high quality products, including freshly squeezed orange juice and delicious bread. The view from the breakfast terrace was wonderful. The hotel had two lovely outdoor pools, neither of which seemed to get too crowded and there were additional facilities including a relatively well-stocked gym at their sister hotel 100m away.

Our bathroom was a little dated and it was difficult to have a shower without spraying water into the bathroom as the shower curtain and screen were inadequate. For the quality of the hotel and the bedrooms, the bathrooms were a bit disappointing and they would benefit from some investment. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful but they did occasionally seem a bit overloaded - possibly because it was a busy week but not yet high season.

breakfast is so, so. it’s okay, make no mistake. but for the 5 stars hotel it is in every other aspect it could improve both in terms of food options and staff attentiveness. one does not feel entirely welcome at reception, it’s like staff is always busy with admin and guests are a nuisance. quite disappointing. they will tell you there’s a walking path down to Lugano when there really isn’t. driving is the only option. management should be more present in a place like this. the place is small and a bit of a personal touch could make a world of a difference.

Villa Principe Leopoldo is all that, and then some! I expected a beautiful room and excellent service, but the view and sense of serenity were added value. It is much prettier and more vibrant, (yet relaxing) than the youtube videos. This is not a staid old hotel. On arrival, it feels like you have arrived at a beautiful, extremely well kept country home. The staff was professional yet friendly and in particular Aurora and Federico, went out of their way to make us feel welcome. There is a delicious breakfast buffet served daily and eating on the terrace was delightful. After two years of travel restrictions, we were extra happy to be there and couldn't have chosen a better place to celebrate my birthday. The cafe menu seemed a little too expensive, but we ate at their Michelin starred restaurant for my birthday and it was one of the best meals we've ever eaten. We hope to return.

A beautiful hotel nested on the fill surrounded by the beautiful lake of Lugano. Paradise like views. Amazing helpful staff. All rooms are spacious; suites. Everything is clean. Parking provided. Would love to come back!

Breakfast can be better; croissants and viennoiseries not very good.

Beautiful lakeside setting. Excellent breakfast provided for our dietary needs. Doorman, lady in charge of breakfasts and a couple of female reception staff were very good and helpful.

Dated - Needs a total refurb. Some male reception staff were unhelpful and lacked enthusiasm at best. Location too far from town and hotel shuttle runs too infrequently. No gym in the hotel only at the 3-star sister hotel which is poor.

Excellent relaxing location with elegant facilities. I had a nice spacious room with a balcony and lake view. Nice pools, easy access to the lake, good breakfast.

I had dinner at the nicest restaurant, which has an excellent location overlooking the lake. Food and service were good but not as expected for a 1 Michelin star.

Staff at front desk not “ fully awake” / on top of things One key per room is not very efficient Bit far from center but they have a great outside pool which others do not

The food was excellent quality and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The Villa is very nice located and I liked the entrance hall and the garden. We had the Suite with Lake View which was okay. We enjoyed the Piano Player at the Bar and the huge variety of different Champaigns.

Some details in the room are already a little bit old, so they will have to start small renovations. But the hotel definitely has its charme.
